Tammy Tate was born and raised in Hollywood, Florida but has lived most of her adult life in Texas. Her passion to write began in high school. It follows her everywhere she goes...creating a world where anything is possible. She's been married to the same wonderful man for over thirty years. Her secret to a long marriage? It's easy when you marry your best friend. In her world, Friday night is still date night.

Before she became a full-time author, she was an Executive Secretary, a Computer Consultant/Technician, and a Communications Officer (Police Dispatcher). She doesn't mind a challenge which has allowed her to race a late-model in a women's powder puff race, run barrels and poles in a play-day rodeo and drive an 18-wheeler. Somewhere in between, she and her husband raised three wonderful children. When she's not breathing life into her characters or jotting down ideas for a new book, she and her husband are exploring country roads on their Honda Gold Wing.

Since she believes reading is the next best thing to writing, she enjoys romance, fantasy, science fiction and thrillers. In December of 2013, she signed her first book contract with a traditional publisher. Her books have made Amazon's Best Seller list.

This is a paranormal fantasy and as expected the protagonists have magical powers that allow them to keep the evil forces at bay.

This is fast paced, action filled supernatural love-angle story. It has well balanced of plot complexity, magic and fun loving characters.

“BWFF: Best wolf friends forever”

It has just right amount of humor and that is quite entertaining.

I quite enjoyed it.

MY REVIEW: 3.5*

Sydney lives on a ranch and is half human and half shifter. Her father is human, her mother a wolf shifter who had died in a car accident some years before. As the time approaches for the first ever transformation into her wolf form, Sydney goes off to her Aunt Susan at Bayou Fontaine. Here she will learn what she needs to know about the process and also what to expect after, if she survives that is. On arrival she meets Kyle, she already is aware of him from recurring dreams she has had about him, he has had similar dreams, yet this is the first time that have met. It is obvious from this first meeting that they have a bond, but as with most things, their path to happiness will not be a smooth one.

This book is set at a good pace, with some well described characters. Even though it appears to have quite a simple story line, there are enough twists to keep the pages turning. It is a reasonably quick read and quite enjoyable. There are some sexual references in this book, but nothing overly detailed.

This is a book suited for readers of Paranormal Fantasy, Romantic Fantasy and those who like escapism.

Thank you Tammy Tate for sending me a copy of this e-book via Readers House.

My review is my honest and unbiased opinion.

Well, WOW! This book just blew me away. I could not put it down. So why did it take me 2 days to read it? Because I didn't want to miss a single word. There is so much emotion, dialogue and action you have to pay attention and she makes you want to pay attention. You don't want to miss a single moment in this book.
Sydney has turned 21 and it's time. Born from a full shifter mother and a human father, Sydney lost her beloved Mother in a car accident. At 21 it is time for her first shift, a precarious event at best into her wolf. She can feel the pull. Her reluctance to leave her father on the ranch she grew up on and go to Louisiana to her mother's sisters has her on edge. Susan her Aunt, still misses her sister and isn't happy that she left the pack and married a full human. On the way to the dock into the Bayou Sydney witnesses first hand the transformation and fury of her Aunt. But here is lovely Sydney, who has been dreaming about a boy every night in her dreams, a boy she doesn't know but knows he is the one for her. She knows about imprinting. When she arrives her Aunt is very harsh with her. She goes through a period of training in the days leading up to the full moon and she also meets the boy Kyle who she knows in her dreams. He's been dreaming about her too. The community is back up in the bayou, self sufficient and active. Susan tries to keep them apart having already made an arranged marriage for Kyle with a female from another pack from Georgia. Here we meet Emily who is just beyond evil. Beau is Kyle's best friend and Sydney quickly makes friends with a few of the females there too.
As much as Susan has prepared Sydney for the night, it isn't an easy task even for a full shifter, much less one who is half human. Sydney's experience is very difficult, it's Kyle that intervenes and gets her through the night. To say she is a changed woman is an understatement. Susan and her husband Adam are council members and certainly her heart softens towards Sydney. Kyle refuses to marry Emily and is determined to be with Sydney, Susan knowing already about the imprinting.
It's after the transformation that the book really takes off like a rocket and the story has many twist and turns. New characters appear, most with bad intentions. Secrets are brought to light and there is much to be solved. The beauty in this book lies in the love between Kyle and Sydney. I'm going to stop here because you have to read the book... it's a must read, to fully appreciate the whole storyline.
There are so many layers to this book, it's like peeling an onion, one layer at a time and watching the story unfold.
This book was so well written, the flow and energy of the book is perfection. Tammy is an artist with words, she paints a beautiful portrait with words into the most incredible story I've read in a long time. The book is perfection. Read the book! It's a fantastic journey she takes you on.
It deserves far more than 10 stars.

WoW!! I love a good “werewolves and vampires living in the human world” story. Don’t misinterpret my statement. This story comes with a twist… and then a turn… and then another twist… Surprises were coming at me all the way to the end of the last chapter!

I cannot believe how many difficulties, snags, and hitches this couple had to overcome!! These problems appeared to go away after quick fixes. I was starting to worry. I began wondering what kind of book would present the hero or heroine with trouble, and then “bam”, a couple paragraphs later problem solved. Just keep reading!! Trust me!!!

Sydney, half human courtesy of her dad and half shifter courtesy of her mom, is sent to New Orleans to experience her first shift with her Aunt Susan. First shifts can be difficult, and especially dangerous for a half breed.

Somehow, Sydney survives her first wolfy experience and training truly begins. My favorite part was learning about the clothing problem. How does one shift back to human and not be naked? Sydney’s new friend Lisa tries to teach her this and more.

All Sydney wants is to learn how to master her new shifting skills and be with her mate. However, people bent on coming between the couple appear left and right. Revenge seems to be the commonality. This girl wants revenge because he didn’t love her like she loves him. That girl wants revenge because she’s being denied what she believes is hers. He wants revenge because she was using him to get back at the other guy. It’s just all craziness!!

I really can’t wait for the next book. I need to know what happens to the pair hiding in plain sight amidst this other clan. Will they be found out? Why are they even there? With all this coming and going, will Bayou Fontaine remain hidden? So many questions… Loving it!

My favorite shifter book by far! I couldn't put it down and I hated that it ended. Never have I read a shifter book quite like it. The author did astounding work and kept me on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to see what's in store for Kyle and Sydney next.

This was a nice easy read for me and flowed beautifully. I enjoyed getting to know all the characters and I felt that everything was tied up very nicely. It's refreshing to read a shifter by an author who actually puts the effort into it.

Omg I've been on the edge of my seat, 282 pages of everything you can think of is in it Adventure, Survival, Fear, Jealousy, Betrayal, Suspense, Mystery, Action Packed, Loyalty, Hate, Lust, Love. Like I said Omg this deliciously phenomenal book is so intense at times. Definitely recommend this Must Read Book.
Sydney constantly seemed to have the same dream over and over again, for very long time in fact she drew him from memory. Never going anywhere and being home schooled who knew who he was. Losing her mother devastated not only her father but her being 10 years old and father kept everything up. Now she had to leave the ranch in Oklahoma to go to New Orleans, where on the outskirts is the Bayou where some land was claimed by the Pack. No one would go to the swamp that was all around them. Going there for 6 months to live with her aunt (her mother's sister) because she was a wolf shifter,  changing at twenty, her dad being human didn't know what to do that's why he was sending her to Susan to help her with the change on the full moon,  then training afterwards. Then like everything else in life things change especially when she finds the man of her dreams. But getting that wolf shifter proved to be quite an ordeal, will she survive? We'll see live through the change?
Kyle Fontaine is a Wolf Shifter living in the Bayou for many of years. He has drempt about her for so long he just knew she was coming.  Seeing her in person was going to be the most   extraordinary feelings that has ever happened to him, now he'll know her name finally. But the council has a different plan for him, they want him to mate another girl from another pack, it was already arranged she was on her way she'll be here tomorrow, no he wasn't going to go to her he knew that the girl coming here today was his mate. Little did he know that the she-wolf from the other pack was going to do everything in her power to make him come to her, make his life miserable until he mated her. When that didn't work she started plans. Will she succeed?

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

After watching the book trailer I jumped at the chance to read this book! Paranormal is one of my top, favorite genres and Tammy Tate's sizzling hot romance did not disappoint! I actually read Homecoming in one sitting, it was that good.

A little about the book, Sydney is half human/half werewolf and her story opens as she is leaving Oklahoma and contemplating the strange man she keeps dreaming about. She later finds out that man is named Kyle and thus, their turbulent affair begins. They'll have a lot to overcome too.

The characters are all very well rounded and dimensional. I particularly like Beau who has a quirky sense of humor. The romance between Kyle and Sydney was passionate, dynamic and sweet. Sydney was strong and independent without pushing Kyle away. Kyle was protective and fierce without overshadowing his partner. They were a power couple who brought out the best in each other.

The scenery was described in detail which makes you feel as though you are actually in the bayou. There's also lots of action that will set your pulse racing and keep you on the edge of your seat!

My only real complaint about this book is that there seems to be a lot of plot lines, and while that isn't necessarily a bad thing, this gave off a sort of "roller coaster" affect. You could feel the tension building for the scene and then it would just sort of fizzle out which left me feeling a little disappointed. Towards the middle of the book you began to see how the plots tie in with each other though, and it drives the story forward.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I fully intend on reading the sequel. If I'm being honest, that will probably be read in one sitting too!

This review is from: The Homecoming (Bayou Shifters) (Volume 1) (Paperback)
In the Homecoming, Bayou Shifters One, Tammy Tate has created a credible, interesting wolf world isolated in the bayou country, where half-shifter Sidney is sent by her father to train for her first wolf transformation, which is always the hardest and sometimes even a fatal event. The twists and turns keep you guessing as Sidney's path is thwarted with danger and evil intentions. But Kyle, a forbidden love she cannot resist, give her strength and purpose in this novel where their family members are true beasts. Outstanding plot! I highly recommend.

Werewolfs and vampires...

Kindle unlimited
Sydney is coming of age, that means her first change... So her father sends her to her mother's family in the boyou... Kyle has been dreaming of this beautiful woman for awhile... Now that she is here he has to meet her... And no one is keeping them apart...
This is a cute story... Think the twist was way off base... But then again not a vampire fan... Doesn't feel like it was part of the story... I will read book 2... Maybe it will go into more detail on the vampires... I recommend this book to 16 and over...

Not what I expected. But that is in the most positive way. Paranormal stories are normally not my thing but this one surprised me. Well written short story with a nice storyline and plot. I like that the characters and how they develop. A humourous, passionate and emotional read with twists. Enjoyable and recommendable.

Sydney & Kyle have a complicated love story, so many hurdles they have to climb and dangerous, conniving enemies to face over and over. But their bond is strong and in the end, love wins out. A reader will be intrigued by this shifter world, fascinated by its inhabitants, enthralled by the passion, jealousy, scheming, confrontations and sheer excitement of it all. An amazing and entertaining storyline. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Five stars.

This was a really fun read. There was loads of tension from the start (will Sydney, the main character, survive her first shift into a wolf? Will Kyle and Sydney realise their love? Will the she-wolf Emily succeed in claiming Kyle for her own?) The creative "wolf world" was well thought-out, with clear rules of shifting. I also enjoyed the touches of humor.

I AM A BIG FAN OF PARANORMAL AND ENJOY HAVING ROMANCE AND ACTION INVOLVED IN THE STORIES. SO I WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO READING THE HOMECOMING BY THE AWESOME TAMMY TATE. SHE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE FAVORITE AUTHORS AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED IN HER STORIES. AS IS THE CASE WITH THE HOMECOMING. THE HOMECOMING WAS A WONDERFUL READ FILLED WITH SO MUCH ACTION, ROMANCE AND PARANORMAL. THERE WAS SOMETHING CONSTANTLY HAPPENING TO TEST SYDNEY AND KYLE. THERE WERE SO MANY CHALLENGES.

I REALLY ENJOYED STEPPING INTO TAMMY TALE OF THE WOLF WORLD. WE ARE INTRODUCED TO SYDNEY WHO IS HALF HUMAN, HALF WOLF WHO IS ABOUT READY TO GO THROUGH HER FIRST TRANSFORMATION. HER FATHER KNOWS HE IS UNABLE TO HELP SYDNEY DURING THE CHANGE SO HE SENDS SYDNEY TO LIVE WITH HER MOTHER'S CLAN. SYDNEY MEETS KYLE WHO SHE HAS BEEN DREAMING ABOUT AND THEY FALL IN LOVE. WILL THE CLAN KEEP THEM FROM BEING TOGETHER? WILL THEY BE ABLE TO OVERCOME ALL THE OBSTACLES TO FINALLY BE TOGETHER?

I REALLY ENJOYED THE HOMECOMING. I LOVED SYDNEY AND KYLE AND FELT THE INSTANT CHEMISTRY BETWEEN THEM. IT WAS NICE WATCHING THEM GETTING TO KNOW ONE ANOTHER AND FALLING IN LOVE AS SYDNEY WAS GOING THROUGH HER TRANSFORMATION. I REALLY ENJOYED ALL THE CHARACTERS THEY EACH PLAYED A ROLE IN THE STORY. I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES. I LOVE TAMMY'S WRITING. IF YOU LOVE PARANORMAL ROMANCE WITH LOTS OF ACTION, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU THE HOMECOMING OR ANY OF TAMMY'S BOOKS. SHE WILL NOT DISAPPOINT YOU.

Sydney has fallen in love. But she has fallen in love with a man she has only ever seen in her dreams.

The Homecoming (Bayou Shifters Book 1) by Tammy Tate is a sit on the edge of the seat, what on earth is going to happen next, rollercoaster of a romance. I adore the characterisation of Sydney and as for Kyle...

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I can't wait for the next book in this series.

I'm not an aficionado of shifter romances, but I decided to step outside my usual box and read this, based on the stellar reviews this book has gotten. And while I didn't enjoy it QUITE as much as others who no doubt frequent this genre did, I found it a thoroughly pleasurable read. It certainly took a few twists and turns that I wasn't expecting (and none of which I will reveal to you here, nyah).

Sydney was an excellent heroine, both badass and vulnerable (my favorite kind of MC), and Kyle, though less interesting, was a very good complement. The story itself, despite its unpredictability, was blissfully uncomplicated, and this allowed me to finish the story quicker than I expected.

I look forward to reading more of this author's work!

While I can’t say that I loved this book, I’m sure there are people out there who would. I just couldn’t get past my issues to fully immerse myself into the story.

I thought the premise of this story was great. It had a unique twist to the werewolf story. Not only could the characters shift into werewolves, but they had a second personality inside their head; their werewolf side that they could actually converse with. I loved the idea but I don’t think it was executed well. It was confusing at the beginning because it wasn’t fully explained and it took me a couple rereads to understand that the wolf in the character’s head actually had a voice of its own. This took me a while to get used to.

Another issue I couldn’t seem to get past was that the book didn’t flow. It was choppy and confusing at times. It would jump from scene to scene without any lead-ins making it hard to follow. By the middle I was able to follow much better just because I knew this was the author’s writing style so by then I was used to it.

To go along with a choppy plot, there were too many plot lines. It’s much easier to follow when there’s only one or two plot points but this just jumped from plot line to plot line. In this 280 page book there were about 4 different bad guys and each had their own story line. The book just seemed way too fast paced. Having one or two villains would have been sufficient, but having 4 just seemed overkill in my opinion.

My greatest issue with this book was the insta-love. If there’s insta-love I’m already guaranteed to not like the book. This is just one thing I can’t get over in books which is why I avoid contemporary and romance books for the most part. I like to read a believable story, not one where they are kissing and saying they love each other in the very first conversation they ever have and getting married a week later. I just can’t.

This book seemed to be borderline erotica. It’s genre is said to be a paranormal romance, so when I came across the various sex scenes I was taken aback at how graphic they were. I do not read erotica and I did not enjoy the sex scenes one bit. I wish that there was erotica added to the genre on Goodreads that way I could have avoided reading this book or at least had some sort of warning before going into it.

One more thing I’d like to mention is that I spotted a few grammatical errors. While I can oversee them while reading an ARC, I have an issue with them being in a published book.

I can’t say I would recommend this book only because I think the writing style is better suited for younger readers but the sex aspect of this book would be for more mature readers. I’m just kind of lost when it comes to placing this book for a recommendation.

Thank you to the author for sending me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Be Still My Heart
Growing up isn’t a cakewalk for anyone. We all face challenges, but Sydney, the heroine of Homecoming, really has it rough. She’s the offspring of a regular old human rancher dad and a wolf/shifter mother, who died years earlier in a car crash. When the story begins, Sydney is a normal girl who is approaching her 21st birthday, the exact day when she’ll be able to drink legally and gain the ability to shift.
Shifting sounds exciting. It brings the ability to morph into a strong, beautiful, close-to -immortal creature. But, if you can remember the sometimes-fierce aches that accompanied your childhood growing pains, you better believe that a first shift isn’t for sissies. In fact, it’s sometimes fatal, which is why Sydney’s father agrees to send Sydney to stay with her Aunt, her mother’s sister who lives in an isolated bayou in Louisiana with her extended shifter clan. Father and aunt are estranged, but they both want Sydney to be safe on her big night.
Her Aunt welcomes Sydney to her home and sets her up with a mentor as well as a job in a boutique. Without giving away too much, Sydney survives her first shift, but her worries are far from over. Before the shift, she meets Kyle who she recognizes as the man she fell in love with in a dream six months earlier. It turns out that Kyle dreampt about her and that their dreams represented imprinting or coming together. Unfortunately, their clan had other plans for Kyle and fights to keep them apart, as did the woman/were who wanted Kyle for herself.
Dealing with the “other woman” is just the first of the many obstacles that Sydney and Kyle must hurdle before they can live happily and safely together.
This book is erotic, funny, and suspenseful. I learned that were-women have it all over us mere mortals. They have better hair, clearer skin, bodies that don’t age, and stronger libidos. They are the whole package.

I liked that this felt different then other shifter books I've read, and I enjoyed all the characters, and the setting was interesting. The romance was adorable, and I loved that they dreamed about each other before meeting! I always love that type of thing. This book has a lot happening, there's a few times that some craziness happens, and I'm thinking oh ok that's the climax of this book, but nope, there's a few of those, so that added to the suspense of this story, which I found entertaining. Sydney has to leave her home to go live with an aunt she's never met because she needs to learn how to survive her first change as a werewolf. Her Aunt lives in a secluded compound full of other werewolves, and isn't exactly the nicest lady. When Sydney gets there, she meets Kyle, and these two have an instant connection, but some outside forces aren't too happy about them being together, so these two have quite a road ahead of them to be together. Sydney and Kyle are sweet and I loved their connection, and I loved that they continued to fight for each other even when things were looking really bleak. Love werewolves, love the Bayou, and loved how entertaining this book is; it kept me reading! The ending did feel a little rushed to me, so I would've liked to see that unfold more, but overall, this book was an enjoyable read!

They imprinted through dreams 6 months before her 21 Birthday, now she has to leave her loving father and their ranch to head to the bayou her her mom’s sister lives with her alpha mate and their pack os shifters, just for a safe place and help for Sydney when she has her first transformation or her death. Her aunt has layers and humans are a sore spot for her due to her sister and her death. When Auntie learns about the imprinting, the drawing and who the guy Sydney is bonding with will cause more trouble. Heck trouble will be following Sydney right and left in this book from the first day in the bayou to the last page. She protects who she love and will fight to the death to protect them and even she’ll have to bit her tounge when things are out of her hands with a local girl in her aunts pack and what that girl will do at the end to do right by someone. Nonstop action, love, traveling from the bayou to Canada to uncovering things and deal with other forces and people.

This book was like a guilty pleasure hallmark/Netflix Christmas movie. The writing style wasn't for me and a lot of parts were underdeveloped and too cliche, but I couldn't put it down. I wouldn't recommend this to everyone, but I don't regret reading it. It has a lot of twilight vibes and I didn't love twilight, but some characters are more enjoyable and a nice comic relief. The dialogue wasn't for me, but a fun read.

I feel like many of the occurrences could have been longer chapters with more development, it felt too fast paced and because of that I didn't connect to things. There were a few moments when I wanted to cringe out of awkwardness or slap my forehead and say "duh" to the characters. It was an interesting story that I just didn't completely connect with.

Tammy Tate brings you into an exciting and thrilling world the moment you dive into, “The Homecoming.” From start to finish, this book had me captivated by the shifter’s world and the jam-packed passion, adventure, and love—both between lovers and true friends—that exists within. From the beginning, I was drawn to the courageous and spunky character of Sydney, and the unceasing passion that personifies her and Kyles relationship. Their story had me in their corner the whole way through, and the stirring twists in the storyline also had me devouring page after page to find out what would happen next!

This is my first book by this author. This book to me was like a roller coaster. As soon as one obstacle was over there was another issue to handle. It has twists and turns that are unexpected and not like most paranormal books. I say this because (without giving spoilers) certain aspects that is traditionally characteristics of wolves and vampires aren’t present in this book. The book ends with just enough questions and suspicions as to what would might happen that I will be reading book two.

Recommended for those who like unusual paranormal with adult situations.

Tammy Tate really knows how to set a mood and get the reader involved in the time and place of her novels. This fascinating tale of a woman who is half human and half wolf draws the reader into the strange world of shifters living deep in the Louisiana Bayou. I don't usually read this type of novel, but I found Sydney's world captivating and really enjoyed the read.

Tammy Tate's "The Homecoming" is the first tale in the series. This is Sydney's coming of age story. Sexy and sweet and gritty all rolled in one! I liked the imprinting and other mythology with the shifting. A lot of action. Many twists and turns keep you reading. I haven't read this author before, but I will definitely check her out again.

My first time reading this author and it did boot disappoint. The Homecomings by is the first in a series of wolf shifters. It follows Sydney, who is imprinted. While not a genre I typically read, I enjoyed the twists and turns and originality to the genre. I rarely read multiple books in a series, but I’ll be sure to give the second of Bayou Shifters a chance.
