When Harrison, a charming, handsome veterinarian surgeon proposes to Zoe, a promising medical student, on Christmas Day, she’s over the moon and in love. Less than two days later, she wonders if she’s made a mistake.
Zoe had been ignoring God, but when her heart is stirred and her faith is rekindled, she’s faced with an impossible decision.
An unplanned trip to Zoe’s family in drought-stricken rural Queensland provides more challenges when she discovers her parents may lose their family property within a matter of weeks.
There was a time when Harrison refused to speak to his parents, but all that has changed, and all he wants now is a family of his own. Losing Zoe to Spencer Coleman, the dashing Royal Flying Doctor Pilot who flies off with Zoe and her Grandma on an emergency flight to the city, is his worst nightmare.
Zoe and Harrison’s journey to the altar is not certain. She’s made two promises - which one can she keep? Or can she keep both?
With compelling characters and surprising plot twists, this tender-hearted love story demonstrates God’s amazing promise of love when everything seems lost.
“Promises of Love” is a stand-alone novel, but to gain maximum enjoyment, it’s suggested you read “True Love at Christmas”, the prequel to this story, first. “True Love at Christmas is free on Amazon.

She lives on Queensland's beautiful Sunshine Coast, Australia, and writes Christian fiction that encourages a deeper faith in a world that seems to have lost its way. Most of her stories include an element of romance, but the main love story in each of her books is always God's amazing, unconditional love for His wayward children.
Juliette and her husband enjoy spending time with their five adult children and eleven grandchildren, When not writing, Juliette and her husband I love exploring the wonderful world we live in.

Juliette continues to write stories that deal with real life issues and struggles that everyone can relate to. Promises of Love deals in part with the issue of Christians marrying non-Christians and the struggle when the person who is not a follower of Jesus is a "good" person. It is also a story that deals very slightly with the death of a loved one who is a believer. The overall theme that I noticed running throughout Promises of Love is the faithfulness of God. Hardships come and regardless of the outcome, Christians can rely on God's faithfulness. I would recommend Promises of Love to anyone wanting an easy read story for the day. I look forward to Juliette continuing to bring us more stories about the people that we have grown to love in her books. I did received a complimentary copy of the book but I am choosing to review it voluntarily.
This was a Christian storyline about Zoe and Harrison. Harrison proposes and Zoe accepts. As they travel to Zoe’s parent’s to tell them the news, they are met with issues that have plagued her parents. Zoe is also having second thoughts about marrying Harrison because they are unequally yolked. Such a great story and it shows that God answers prayers in his time.
I received Promises of Love as a complimentary copy though I voluntarily reviewed it. Zoe struggles with her decision to continue in her engagement to Harrison since he was not a believer. I wouldn't recommend dating an unsaved man, but it is known to happen that they come to know the Lord before their marriage. Juliette Duncan is good at portraying our human struggles in our faith and seeking God in those struggles which therefore strengthen our faith.
4 stars I have purchased the 10 book Australian based clean boxset titled The True Love and Precious Love Series Boxset: A Christian Romance by Juliette Duncan and this review was given freely. The 10 part saga of the Williams family touches on many serious topics that challenge ones faith and health but also provides a picture of the growth, love and comfort that can be found when walking with God. Vivid descriptions are interwoven between heartfelt prayers, family drama and portions of scripture. Includes the titles Tender Love,Tested Love,Tormented Love,Triumphant Love, Forever Cherished,Forever Faithful,Forever His,Unchained,True Love at Christmas,Promises of Love, and A Time to Treasure: Prologue
**Promises of Love: An emotion packed continuation of True Love at Christmas laced heavily with the theme of loss but ends happily. Promises of Love finds the newly engaged Zoe Taylor and Harrison Smith spending Christmas day with Zoe's extended family and her financially struggling parents, Harrison hoping for a short engagement while Zoe is torn trying to figure out how to make everyone happy while dealing with doubts concerning her relationship with the no-Christian Harrison, her grandmother's sudden illness and with the sudden return of her high school boyfriend Spencer.
Promises of Love, written by Juliette Duncan, is a continuation of the characters in the True Love Series. This story we learn more about Harrison and Zoe with sneak peeks with Tessa, Ben and Jayden and some of the other characters that we've come to love. This story was one that showed a couple just getting engaged and the struggles that life brings with it. I liked how Duncan showed the redeeming qualities of Harrison who we've known has some issues with faith and relationships before this book. One of the quotes from the book that summed it all up was Zoe speaking..."I'm starting to understand that it's not so much what happens to us that's important, it's how we handle it." Zoe had issues she needed to clear up involving her relationship with God, Harrison, and Spencer. There was a lot of passion shown between the characters, but all of it was done tastefully and a very clean read. I was given this book by the author. All thoughts and comments are my own.
Zoe and Harrison meet and fall in love before she finds out if he made God 1st in his life. Her grandmother was a mentor to her so after going to college Zoe has left her path and finds love but had forgotten her grandmother's words. Events occur that cause her to question if she followed her heart and whether she should leave Harrison before she hurts him. So many events happen as she now strives to see is he can change his life to make a place for God!! Despite tragedies, God is working behind the scenes to answer prayers of grandma, parents and friends. Read to see amazing story of redemption played out!
This is a sweet, clean romance story with a very strong Christian content, a few twists in the plot which keeps one guessing, well-written content and developed characters. The blurb on the book gives a full and honest description of the story.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a romance story. If you are in your senior years, it will bring back memories of your youth; if you are a late teen or young adult, it will help you to see your own romance relationship in a different perspective.
I have read quite a few books by Juliette Duncan prior to this story. I appreciate her stand for Christian values in romantic relationships. However it seemed at first that Zoe Taylor might succumb to less than God’s best. Harrison wasn’t even sure he believed in God. He realized that a lot of people were praying for him. He didn’t really like that! Many things began to go wrong. Zoe and Harrison were both tested. Would Zoe trust God fully? Would Harrison learn to trust Zoe? It’s up to you to find out!
I got this book free on Amazon and am voluntarily giving my review. I have quickly become a fan of Juliette Duncan. Her characters are well developed and the story lines keep my interest. I really appreciate these clean Christian stories that deal with so many of the problems we face in our Christian walk. Promises of Love almost made me cry with sympathy for the characters. I highly recommend this book.
The story had lots of sadness even though it ended happily. The Bible verses were well selected. Just over done. I also did not feel comfortable with the way Harrison was so jealous. It made him sound like a person who wanted to control Zoe. That kind of personality can be dangerous in a relationship. Because of the ending I recognize the author was not trying to do that, but it ruined the story for me.
As I read this beautiful story of faith and devotion, I was reminded of my own some 54 years ago. He's gone now, but then another beautiful man came into my life filling me with joy and such a wonderful sense of God's reminder that He truly knew what was His Promise Of Love. Thank you for such a magnificent reminded of God's forever reminder of He truly reminder of what is best for each one of His children.
Easy inspirational read. I had read other books in this series so knew the characters and was great to reconnect. Always appreciate the Bible quotes that are in the books one character returns to her faith and one find God. Loved the fact that two people who started out as leery of each other become friends.Easy read
Wonderful book! Wonderful author! I really enjoyed and feasted on the Words of life shared through the faith of the characters and the importance of accepting the path we are given in life as a journey in which to honor God and give him the praise He deserves no matter what we have to endure. Beautiful description of true love and trust in the Lord to direct our paths.
Oh what a great nook. Loved all the scriptures throughout the book and loved reading about Zoe and Harrison and their love for each other. This was an amazing book on love and life and how we as Christians should live our lives as well as help others as well. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
I enjoyed seeing Harrison get his own book. There were great characters, some rough times, and a lot of teachable moments. I’m super excited to head over to the Precious Love series for more of the True Love series characters!
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Fantastic Contemporary Christian fiction book in the series
This was a fantastic Contemporary Christian fiction book in the series. The stories are consistent with past and new characters; all of which continue to tug on the heartstrings! I laughed and cried... both sad and joyful. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
I enjoyed this story, Ms Juliette has introduced a great cast of characters in her story of the trails of a man and women as they move though romance, jealousy and faith. Well written .
An awesome, heartwarming story about a couples romantic journey and one wanting God in the relationship and upcoming marriage and the other one not interested. Love how the Lord worked in everyone and showed them what his true love does
I really found that I was kept on The edge of my seat with the turn of events. This was a lovely book and I love how God was woven into the story. I really enjoyed how Spencer and Harrison were able to become friends.
This is a very interesting book. The ups and downs of Zoe and Harrison's relationship was interesting. I am so glad they did not leave God out of their lives. It was so important to Zoe and she did not give up on Harrison. Good reading material.
This was a sweet romance but didn’t wow me. The most captivating part was the fire. I’m glad she got to use her skills to save her dad. The ending was rushed and seemed too perfect.
A contemporary Christian romance of a young couple trying to find their way through the ups and downs of life. He's jealous of her of childhood boyfriend and she's afraid God is not in his heart. Good story.
Another great read by Juliette Duncan. She has a way of drawing you into the story as if you are there experiencing it all. This book was no exception to her phenomenal Christian writing. She uses scripture to apply to the situation on her plot. It had twists I didn't see coming. When I was reading I'd tell myself jist one more chapter and find myself at the end of the book quickly. A definite must read.
Quick and easy read with a Christian theme. A young couple struggles to align their faith before marriage. Hardships and family loss provide roadblocks along the way
This story has characters from a previous series, and is an inspirational, clean romance. Ms.Duncan has a wonderful way of dealing with the struggles in real life depicted in her stories. This one deals with Zoe and Harrison falling in love before she finds out he is not a Christian. Zoe really struggles with her faith and seeking God to strengthen it and guide her in a decision to marry him, let Harrison find the Lord, or break the engagement. Highly recommend this story.
