DNF at 40%

It took me a moment to figure out why this book isn't working for me. It isn't just the unrealistic life portrayed on the farm. (If you have foals and horses and rehab to do then you do not have time to lie in bed with a hunk of man.) It wasn't just the tropes that were excessively prevalent in this book. (Best friend encouraging her to get some dick, hot guy with tattoos, a motorcycle, and a constant boner.) It also wasn't the tragic beginning that was suspiciously close to Up!

It was the fact that this book tackles emotional healing with sex.

I am not saying sex isn't therapeutic because it can be. HOWEVER, there is no dick magical enough or a lover passionate enough to heal your well deserved emotional wounds. Also, a woman does not need a man to be happy. This woman does not love herself and I can tell from 40% that this guy will fall in love with her and then she will magically realize how much she is ready for love again.

Le gag.

You heal on your own time. If you aren't ready, then you aren't ready. Everybody kept saying how much she needed a man in her life but I just find that really shallow and disheartening. This woman lost so much and her family and solitary friend are concerned about her sex life instead of mental health.

AND ANOTHER THING!

Bruh. Honey child. Sweetheart.

"She didn't know how beautiful she was," enforces some bullshit patriarchy nonsense where a woman is not allowed to be aware of her physical attractiveness and not allowed to take pride in her appearance. Let me tell you, if I look hot, then I know I look hot. If I look like a mess, I know that too. I don't need a man to tell me that.

Clearly my opinion is in the minority. I found Amy weak and insipid, Brock stalkerish and boorish and his family and friends cruel. Most of the story was him pawing Amy, she loving it and endless rounds of sex with too little story in between.

Just not my cuppa.

If you want a sweet and romantic story, then this book is for you! Amy loses the life of her life in a barn fire, and I can't even begin to explain how devastated she is. But, with support from her parents and grandmother, she finds her way back. When going out to meet one of her employees for a drink, an attractive man sits down next to her. Brock was one gorgeous male. He owns his own construction company so his body is one of ripples of muscles and power. And, OMG, he rides a motorcycle too!! When he meets Amy, he's totally taken by her. She's strong, compassionate, and beautiful. He has been searching for that one person for thirty years that will take his breath away, and she seems to have done that immediately. Amy seems to be taken with Brock also. After two years of running her therapy horse farm, she might have just meet a man that could give her a second chance at finding love. As they get to know each other, it isn't without some pretty exasperating hurdles. She's still mourning the loss of her former husband, and he has to deal with a mother that thinks Amy is not good enough for him. So, when Brock meets with an untimely accident, the two are faced with some big decisions about their relationship. It all seems pretty bleak until an unexpected surprise has the two reaching for each other with compassion and understanding. You will not be disappointed with this beautiful romance from author, Betty Shreffler!

And, how about that cover?? Gorgeous!!!

I received an early copy, I don't want to use the magical words to keep a certain company from possibly rejecting my review.. haha

Anywho, this book was the first time I'd ever heard the name Betty Shreffler.. I've never spoke to her, heard of her, or read any of her books until this one. ( explaining this so no one thinks my review is biased) and I do not read many cowboy books... hey we all have what we like.. haha but this book, holy cowboy!!!

When I read the blurb to this book, I was auto hooked. I wanted and needed it asap...

When tragedy strikes what would you do? Well for Amy she started her own business focused on her passion for horses, she now heals and trains them. After shutting her late husbands business down, she starts her own horse therapy ranch... two years after tragedy struck her grams begins to pressure her about dating, she wants nothing to do with it, that is until she's stood up by her employee for a dinner date and in walks Brock, sexy, built cowboy, ( me personally I'd take Brock for a ride any day) they introduce themselves and one thing leads to another.... but does tragedy strike again? Can Amy even handle anything else happening? This book will make you moan, cry and awe... it is full of so many emotions, heck as much as I want to ride Brock, there was a point I wanted to throats punch him >:( he made a very stupid choice... so anywho you'll read about tragedy, second chances and a love so desperate and hot that it pours off the pages.. I couldn't put this book down, I haven't had time to sleep.. not many books can grip me the way this one did.. Betty may have been a new to me author, but I'll be reading whatever she writes from now on :) happy reading :)

Fire on the Farm by Betty Shreffler a fancy four-star read. This is a second chance Cowboy romance, I haven’t always liked Cowboy books but have really started to enjoy them and this one was lovely and a very good example of the genre. This is the first Betty Shreffler book I have ever read, but I am sure I will read many, many more as she has a great talent for writing people you start to really care about, and want to reach within the pages and shake and hug at different intervals.
Amy Flanders is a young woman whose life was perfect, perfect husband and farm life until she is faced with unimaginable tragedy. Her husband is taken from her in the blink of an eye, this turns Amy into a sad woman overnight someone who doesn’t seem to be able to get out the other side, not without a little help at least. This story is written in an amazing fashion, Amy’s grief is real, you can feel it in the pit of your stomach as she succumbs to the grief. When Amy starts to come out the other side and you see her start her journey to put herself back together, getting her life back on track, your heart soars as you see her start a new journey.
Brock Baisden saves Amy one night when her work friend doesn’t turn up for dinner at the bar, they have a few drinks and some dinner, they shoot some pool and it starts something in both of them that neither expected. But sometimes the unexpected can lead to the perfect storm, neither of the were looking for anything but sometimes fate has a path for you that you don’t expect.
Will Amy get the happily ever after that she deserves after such tragedy and will Brock finally realise that just because his heart was broken doesn’t mean it can’t be put back together again, he isn’t humpty dumpty so he deserves the chance surely.

Amy Flanders was forced into a life of independence when she lost the man she loved in a terrible accident. Now days, her happy place is her work, which is dedicated to the care and training horses. Things take a left turn, when in a moment of serious loneliness, she finds herself in the arms of Brock Baisdin, who has woken up a part of her that she though was dead. Brock is a picky man who runs his own business, so he has very limited time for women. However, he's not stopped looking for love. When he saves Amy from a cancelled date, he's instantly attracted to her, but can he tear down her walls of fear? I rarely read book about cowboys for whatever reason, but I couldn't get enough of Fire on the Farm. Plus, this is my first time reading this author, and boy, I was blown away, and fell hard for a picky cowboy. Her talented writing style hooked me instantly, and I found myself addicted, and now I need more! The angst levels are high, and my eyes threatened to leak once or twice, as I was transported into this story, while the romance was poignantly sweet. All dramatic emotions were front and center, and now I feel the urge to find myself a cowboy. Congratulations Ms. Shreffler, you have made a girl who runs from cowboys, straight to wondering what have I been missing out on! Cannot wait to read more by her, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

It's been a long time since I've sobbed this much over a book. My eyes are sore. So many emotions and the grief! I can't... I felt every single ounce of Amy's heartbreak after losing her husband, Darrell. It hurt to breathe because I lost him too. I felt the guilt she felt at finding Brock attractive, two years later... I soon got over her guilt when that delectable specimen put his hands all over Amy! Phew!! H.O.T.

Amy was getting on with her life after the loss of her husband. She started her own business and lived a day at a time. Brock had been burnt by his previous relationship but saw everything he wants in the first look at Amy. These two were made for each other. Sparks fly and it gets pretty full on very quickly. I love all the characters but I did get far too angry with Brock's irritating, interfering mother! That woman needs a good slap!

I just loved every single word of this story. Superb writing and fabulous emotions. I'm checking out more of Betty Sheffler's books!
This is a MUST READ!

What a book! To be honest looking at the cover and title, I didn't expect much but wow was I blown away.

From the beginning chapter is had me gripped, the love and connection between Amy and her husband is something we all dream about, when he is killed in a tragic accident she thinks her life is over and she no longer wants to go on without him. Finding a passion for helping horses the have been in accidents she starts to live again. A chance meeting with a stranger in a bar Brock changes her whole life and she has to decide if she can love again and go through the hurt of maybe loosing someone else she love so much. The handsome, rugged Brock is about to give her no choice and knows from the first time he set eyes on Amy that he is in love and she is his life.

The book took me on a roller coaster, I started with a huge smile on my face to becoming a ugly, sobbing mess. It just goes to show don't judge a book by it's cover!

This is, hands down, my favorite Betty Shreffler book YET! She grabbed me right from the beginning and kept holding on until the very last page. Amy's incredible loss breaks your heart, but her journey with new beau, Brock, completely glues it back together piece by piece. Their love story is real, heartfelt, beautiful, and sexy.
If there was ever a man I wish were real, it would be Brock Baisden. He is a delicious character from top to tail. Sweet, sexy, swarthy, and seductive. He knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go after it. - even when he's pushed away.
The one and only thing I DIDN'T like about the story, is that Betty hasn't written one for ranch hand, Jared, yet!!! Get on it, woman!! ;P
I digress ;) This was definitely a 5 star read that I would suggest to anyone you loves a sweet second chance romance.

Ms. Shreffler did such a wonderful job writing Fire On The Farm! This story was full of so many emotions that were beautifully incorporated, without being rushed, and was truly a great read. The first part of the story was sad and heartbreaking with everything that Amy had gone through and I was so engrossed with the story that I couldn't put it down without finishing it. I'm not one for giving spoilers, but I do recommend that you read this book because I believe you'll enjoy it as much as I did. I will definitely be reading more by Betty Shreffler ❤. I voluntarily read this story for an honest review.

I tried really hard to get into this. I loved another book by this author and hoped to recapture that magic. I also love horses. Sadly even horses couldn't save this one. Part of my problem was I just couldn't connect with the writing though I couldn't really put the why into words. Something about the tone maybe. And the multiple mid chapter pov shifts didn't help. I was willing to keep trying though. I even only rolled my eyes a little at her reminding us about her baby envy at least twice a chapter. But the meeting of the heroine and her subsequent actions til I quit really didn't make much sense. The final nail in the coffin though was the hero. He makes a point of thinking he likes that she is independent and stuff but every thought he has and words he say to her are sexual. I don't necessarily mind a start like this to a romance but it came on way too strong for me. Dnf

REVIEW
New to me author.
Amy and Darrell worked together, and then one day it all changed. True love found it's way into their hearts and soul. Darrell moved his young bride, and they started up his working farm that he had always dreamed of.

Amys life is about to take a turn, and it's not one this young woman is prepared for. Loss needles it's way in, and it's taken hold of her. Her family is there but not for long. What will she do? How can she go on?

Enter one man by the name of Brock who has taken a shine to Amy, however, is he strong enough to help her mend?

Wow, a tear jerker for sure, very well written however it does have some grammar issues such as missing words.
If you enjoy second chance romances, then pick it up.

A page turning love story that will pull at all of your heart strings. Amy and Brock's love story reaches out, and captures you heart and soul. Once you start down their journey your heart will never be the same. Betty Shreffler pulls you into an epic love story that makes you feel that Amy and Brock will walk through your door just any time, and ask you to pull up a chair and have a beer. Once you read the first line you will not be able to put it down. If you enjoy a story that takes you from the lowest point in the life of the heroine, and then brings you back to the highest point then you need this story in your library.

I am honored to read this Arc by Betty Sheffer, I have loved all her books especially a cretin book coming out in May! (Castle of Kings). You will need tissue for his book as its very emotionally driven. To have the love of your life ripped away from you in a tragic accident, you have no time to prepare, say good bye, make piece with it, is rough and Amy doesn't handle it well. sinking into depression she is pulled out by family, and her horses. the duty to them and the farm draw her out of her depression. years pass and you really aren't sure she is fully recovered. When she is asked out for drinks by a employee a night out seems like it's needed, and when the employee chickens out and stands her up, Brock walks in and takes her breath away. He is everything she didn't know she was missing, or needed in her life. He gives her an option, a look forward to a future with someone and not alone. Brock is an amazing man, growing up with out a father, and several sisters he has become a stand up man, for the women in his life. He to has know what heart ache feels like, and has overcome with some protective barriers. He is hard working, self driven man. He senses Amy's desire and her fear, and tries to help her overcome them, every step of the way he is right there by her side. it isn't until the unthinkable happens that he can't see through the self doubt and allows her to turn away from him. grab a box of tissue... your gonna need it. But, it's a soul cleansing cry.... making this reader yearn for her own cowboy to cuddle.

So I really wanted to enjoy this book so I completed it and I'm actually not happy that I finished it at all. By the end, I ended up hating Amy and Brock and that's never a good thing!
Amy is weak and annoying!!! She cries constantly and while I get that she lost her husband, she obviously hadn't moved. The problem with the is that Brock comes out of no where and they have fallen in love within 2 months yet she can't get over her insecurities and allows Brock's family to push them apart.
Brock, was kind of ok to start but then it seemed to go down hill, he was beyond intense and says he'll go slow but never does. He's constantly pawing (author's own word) at Amy and it's actually a little uncomfortable. He says he loves her but when she stumbles and isn't sure about them he leaves and hooks up with another woman and she ends up kissing a side character (which you saw coming).
Brock's friends and family were disgusting, his mum is terrible and that made it even worse!
What blows my mind is he comes back and everything is just all right again, I don't know why this was acceptable at all.
So, so disappointed because I wanted a goof cowboy romance and just didn't get it.
This is my honest and unbiased review.

Fire On The Farm by Betty Shreffler is a stand-alone romance novel.
A second chance cowboy romance.
Meet Amy Flanders, she lost the love of her life in a tragic accident. She lives only for her work- to care for and train horses.
Till she meet Brock Baisdin.
Brock Baisdin owns a contracting company and doesn´t do relationships. Till he meet Amy.
He sees her and is smitten.
But cam Amy overcome the wounds of her past and her fear to lose another man?

Fire On The Farm is an incredible and very emotional read. A heartwrenchingly, beautiful lovestory. I loved every page of this book. I loved the characters and I loved the writing. I was teary eyed most of the time. I could feel the characters emotions in the words and it gutted me.
I love, love , love Fire On The Farm and Highly recommend this book!
I wish I could give more than 5 Stars.
Thank you Betty Shreffler !

It's a book funk, I tell you, a book funk!

Okay, so I read this book in its entirety. I did this because I just cannot leave a book unfinished. Plus, I just can't review a book I didn't finish.

So, here we are.

This book just isn't for me. The characters didn't work for me and the story, which had so much potential, just didn't come together for me. I'm not sure why. Like I said, the potential was there.

I almost quit. But I pushed through. The last 10% of this book was the most exciting, in my opinion. If the whole book had been like this, I would have enjoyed it much more.

But you may like the story, so don't let my review steer you away. Sometimes what works for one doesn't work for others. That may be the case here.

Fire on the Farm is a lovely novel by Betty Shreffler. This book broke my heart and then mended it, all within the pages of this sweet story.

The story starts with Amy Flanders finding love in the arms of her friend Darrell. They are soon married and build a comfortable, happy life. Amy is so in love and looking forward to all that life has to offer. Darrell building up his farm business, as well as her equine training business and planning a family with the man she loved- and who adored her in return. Life seemed to be perfect.
Then in the blink of an eye her perfect world comes crashing down around her when her beloved husband is killed in a horrific farm accident. This tragedy completely shatters Amy’s heart and leaves her a shell of her former self; she has trouble getting through her days, she can’t eat, loses weight and refuses to see anyone. Her grief is so intense that she doesn’t think she will ever be able to get over it and she sinks further into a depression.

“Have you ever been trapped in quicksand? Feeling like you’re sinking into a terrifying abyss and there is no one to save you? Neither have I, but it’s the best description I can come up with for what it feels like to suffer from depression. That’s how you feel when depression hits you- like you’re mentally and emotionally sinking into a black hole from which there is no return. No one can save you. No one’s cheery smiles, cupcakes, lasagne, or casserole dishes can pull you back from the darkness that consumes you. You lose your sense of self, your self-value, you begin questioning every decision you ever made in your life and how it’s got you to this point- feeling as though you have no reason to go on.”

But with support from her loving family, Amy slowly begins to take an interest in life once more. She misses her husband like crazy, every minute of every day- but she finds her feet and a strength and independence she didn’t know she was capable of.
Her horses have a lot to do with her healing process and because of this, Amy decides to start a new business, turning her farm into a horse ranch where she provides boarding, training, as well as horse therapy. This gives Amy a new purpose in life and she throws herself into this new venture, giving every ounce of her energy into making it a success.
The story jumps forward two years and Amy still misses her husband, but the pain isn’t as raw as it once was. Her ranch is a successful venture and has gained an enviable reputation in the equine community. But, her family worry about her, as she keeps herself so busy, that she has no time for a social life, let alone dating.
When one of the ranch hands asks her out for a drink, Amy surprisingly accepts his invitation. She arrives at the bar only to receive a message to say that her colleague won’t be able to make it. Amy is now on her own, in a bar for the first time since her husband died. She is still trying to decide what to do when an incredibly gorgeous man enters the bar. Amy notices him right away and can’t help a flutter of excitement that surges through her body. Her obvious interest doesn’t go unnoticed as the hunky man takes the seat next to her at the bar.

“Yeah, it had been too long since I’d seen an attractive male. No, not attractive, this man was carved from some kind of toned, golden-skinned statue and magically given life. There were no words for how gorgeous he was. As sparks went off like the Fourth of July from my hips down, I turned to my beer and swallowed with great enthusiasm.”

Brock Baisdin is a building contractor who owns a successful construction company. He is a great guy; he has a wonderful, close-knit family and really great friends. But, Brock was burned by a woman who he though truly loved him at the time and ever since he has become wary when it comes to women. He isn’t against love; he’s just not looking for it at the present time.
As soon as he enters the establishment, he notices the beautiful woman sitting alone at the bar. There is something about her that draws him to her, something about her eyes that has him intrigued, and so he decides to find out more about her. When he discovers that she has been stood up, he offers to keep her company while they have a meal. Amy agrees, happy to be rescued from her awkward situation.

“Only a few minute in and I was already dying to know more about her. Relief filled me when she let me join her for dinner. Even her attempt to flirt was cute. As was her smile. It seemed she wasn’t used to wearing a smile, and beneath those shy eyes, I sensed something more.
A bit of pride filled me when she ordered a burger and fries. She was my kind of girl already. I watched her nervously take the beer I ordered for her. Her attraction to me was apparent, and the sweet way she avoided staring at me too long made my mind fill with thoughts I tried hard to suppress. Her breasts clung to her tank top as the beer bottle met those full, pink lips. It was all over for me then. I had never wanted to be a beer bottle so badly in my life. She licked those perfectly plump lips, and my groin ached.”

They enjoy a little flirting, a delicious meal, a few drinks, an affable game of pool, and some friendly banter. Their attraction is undeniable, but Amy finds it difficult having these intense feelings for the first time since her husband died two years ago- she feels a lot of guilt too, almost like she is betraying the memory of him.
As they spend more time together, the connection they have develops and blossoms into a lot more. But all this is threatened when a unexpected situation occurs. This has Amy reliving painful memories that she’s certain she can’t endure for a second time. What does the future hold for these two? Or will it be over all too soon, leaving Amy alone with her pain once more?

Wow. What a great story!
Firstly there was a completely heartbreaking start to the story. I was already shattered and I was only a few chapters in. Watching as Amy’s life and happiness crumbled around her was gut wrenching; immersed in Amy’s grief with her was heart breaking and entirely tangible: then as she transitions from her grief into taking small steps to re-building a life for herself, was so inspiring to see; then watching her blossom when she meets Brock was just wonderful. Ms. Shreffler wrote this story so well; she had me reading every word with bated breath. I needed to know what would happen and I couldn’t put it down.
The story is told from a duel POV and has a good pace and smooth flow. It was a little slow to get going in the beginning, as the author laid out the foundations to the story- but after a few chapters the story gained momentum and took off.
I will definitely be diving into some more of Ms. Shreffler’s books.
A great read!

Thank you Ms. Shreffler!

I received this book from the author as an ARC and this review is left freely and is my honest opinion. Fire on the Farm is a moving story about love, loss and allowing one's self to accept love again. Amy is a horse therapist and a young widow. She worked hard to form a life for herself after her young husband's tragic accident. She is existing but not living until she meets Brock. He's a few years older than her and has his own construction business that keeps him busy. He thought that his days were fine until he met Amy and realized that he wanted so much more out of life. He knows that she is terrified to move forward and accept love again. He knows that she has a lot of history and baggage that she hasn't worked through but feels that she is worth all the challenges that come with this relationship. Brock has some baggage of his own but doesn't realize how much until it's too late. Or is it? This story is very heartfelt so make sure that you have plenty of Kleenex on hand. This was the first book that I have ever read by Betty Shreffler but based on how much I enjoyed it, it will not be the last.

Amy Flanders is forced into leading a life of independence, after losing the man she loved in a terrible unexpected accident. Her only sort of comfort, and stopping her from getting deeper into depression is dedicating herself to the care and training of horses. Until one night of her co-workers no show leads her to meet Brock Baisdin, a man who fulfils her deepest desires and reignites a flame that longed had burnt out!

Having picky tastes and running his own business, Brock has little time for women, but that doesn’t really stop him for looking for love. Being lucky enough to save Amy from her cancelled date, Brock is instantly drawn to the shy, and beautiful women that is Amy. Be he knows she hides secrets behind her lust filled baby blues, but they are secrets he wants to discover with her.

With an undeniable question that pulls them into each other arms. For Amy, Brock could be the man to bring the love she needs back into her life, but can she overcome the wounds of her past and face her biggest fear, the risk of another shattered heart!

Fire on the Farm is a stand-alone novel by Betty Shreffler, and my first book from this author, and won’t be my last.

For one thing that’s state the obvious! The cover of this book is hot and really hits the spot. It really gives you an idea how our main character is if you can’t picture him. But with the brilliant Betty Shreffler giving us a brilliant description of Brock’s hotness his personality makes him even better!

This book was amazing read that I was unable to put down and had me hooked from the first page. The two characters in this book were captivating to read and loved everything about them. I’ve been happy, sad, angry and frustrated all while reading this book. There were things in this book that I didn’t expect to happen, that shocked me. I know it took a lot for Amy to open up to Brock but you could tell she had feelings for him, where you just wanted to tell them to stop fighting it and get to it.

I loved the chemistry that these two characters had, yes, they developed a connection really quickly, and it developed into something quicker than either of them thought but they were real. Their relationship was real, their connection was real, their trust was real, and I think that is what both of them needed at that point in their life. They quickly broke down each other walls, that they had built up and slowly help piece each other back together. I love reading their developing connection, I liked how Brock never forced or pushed Amy to get over her past, he let her take her time and let her figure out her emotions and feeling in her own time, even though you could see how deeply she felt for him. I also liked how without even realising it, how much they were helping repair each other from the inside. Amy may have still had reservations about opening herself up to love again, but she also knew she couldn’t live her life alone anymore. The connection they also shared within their sexy scenes also shows the trust they had in each other, and how much Amy was willing to give towards Brock. This book had me smiling on numerous occasions throughout the book with seeing their connection blossom and change. These two are defiantly an incredible couple as they each balance each other out, heal each other and have an undeniable connection inside and out.

This book also has some great secondary characters that I’d love to read their story such as Amy’s best friend Heather. After a brief introduction and a little backstory, I’d love to read her own story with the events leading up to her visiting Amy on her ranch and after.

Another great thing with this book, is that its written with Dual POV’S. I love reading the book this way as it really helps you connect with the characters and get their thoughts and feeling from them rather than someone else.

Amy had the perfect life until the devastation that rocked her life. But to help herself get over the trauma, she thrusts herself into helping others especially horses. But with this she becomes and stronger person herself, and no expects to live her life alone with the horses, but that changes the moment Brock comes into her life. She slowly opens up and makes the biggest change of all the characters in this book, she may still have some battles with her heart of it being shattered again and losing another love, but she is also aware she can no longer go on without love. She shows every emotion with eyes and it’s what draws Brock in even more. I loved reading about her journey of finally letting her walls down and allowing someone to love and connect with her.

Brock, is everything any women would want, but he wants no one but Amy, she is everything he has ever been looking for. He knows she has suffered loss like no other, but he wants nothing more than to love her and take her pain away that he knows she holds in her heart. He sees she is strong, compassionate, loving and beautiful and he wants nothing more than to help her heal further. He has got to be the best man for her, he is protective, caring, passionate, isn’t afraid to love and never forces her to forget he past. He doesn’t resent her for still loving her husband, he understands everything she faces but all he is hopeful for is she feels just the same for him as he does her.

These two have an incredible connection and love that helps heal each other in ways they didn’t expect. I loved reading their journey together even with the trials and tribulations they have along the way!
You will enjoy it too! Do not miss this book about second chances, love and a beautiful connection between two incredible people.

Amy is a young woman who lost her husband in a farm accident. Two years later she meets a hot cowboy named Brock. Brock is immediately attracted to Amy and they hit it off. Amy and Brock begin dating and slowly falling in love. Brock is patient, kind, loving and sexy. Amy is broken but strong, and compassionate. This romance was soo emotional and so good! This was my first book by Betty Shreffler and I recommend this book to all the romance junkies out there. I gave it a 4.5 stars.

I cried over this one! It just one killed me. How do you deal with the loss of someone? Amy's story pulled me in from page one. I knew from the beginning this was going to be tough. It was but oh so worth it. She was lucky enough enough to find two wonderful men who loved her, but is she strong enough to take that second chance? Will she be able to let Brock into her heart after all the grief she felt and tears she shed? The ups and downs kept me on edge to the end. The sexy scenes were amazing too but it was the well-written emotionally packed story that kept me hooked. I'd read anything Betty Shreffler writes, this was perfect. Thanks for the wonderful escape! Just loved it.

Amy Flanders has suffered a tremendous loss, her husband died in an accident on their farm.  Amy has made something of what was her farm; turned it into a horse therapy center.  She has had no time to date but really hasn't wanted to either.  When she meets Brick Baisden at a bar in town, sparks fly and she steps way out of her comfort zone with him *wink, wink*.  She doesn't plan on seeing him again but Brock has a different idea and he is determined to change her mind and win her over.  Brock has been burned before as well, by a woman who he thought loved him so opening his heart is hard on him too.

I haven't ever read a Betty Schreffler book before but I'm glad I got this one.  Ms. Schreffler did an excellent job bringing Amy's loss of her husband to life for me as well as the difficulties in and conflicts resulting from Amy and Brock's relationship.  At first I thought Amy and Brock went from zero to 100 too fast but as the story went on it evened out for me and became a relationship that was more believable in its progression.  I really enjoyed this book and I'll be picking up more!

Lets start of by saying that this was a new author for us a we really enjoyed our first read by her.

I loved the story and its characters from cover to cover.Once we started reading it we could not put it down. This was such a touching and heartbreaking story that had me balling my eyes out and it was only chapter 3.It's has been sometime since a book has touched my heart and tugged on my emotions like this story did but it did just that.

After Amy's loss I was so happy she found someone to love again. You felt Amy's pain and all her mixed emotions that she was experiencing her pain ,loss, guilt as she felt like she was betraying her husband by moving on and loving someone else.

I loved Amy she was intelligent, beautiful, strong willed, generous, had a sense of humor and love wholeheartedly.I loved how she choose to move on by using her farm to help injured animals heal.

I loved Brock as well he was patient, kind, generous,
understanding and sexy as all get out.I loved him because he was just a sweet patient and kind man and just an all around great guy.

Amy and Brock had major chemistry together which lead to some very hot passionate love scenes.I really loved this couple as they were perfect for one another.

An enticing read that had pain, sorrow, death, forgiveness, betrayals as well as love and happiness, healing along with a few twist an turns making it a page turner for sure.

A heart felt love story that we loved and would recommend it to all as it was such a touching story filled with love romance healing and a miracle all the things that make engrossing and engaging read.

I love when you can connect with the characters that you read about and we were able to do that.Brock and Amy were just so love-able that you could not help but me drawn to them from the very beginning.

Looking forward to reading more stories by this author in the near future.
