The minivan is her sanctuary, and the only place she can sing out loud without being shushed. She’s known for her short term memory and extreme love of chips and dip. I Matter (Mindful Mantras #2) by Laurie Wright. Illustrated by Ana Santos. Kindle edition. ©2017. 3 stars.
Offbeat main character (a little girl), and illustrations with desaturated or muted tones, as well as dubious facial expressions, detract from the original good message of this book and communicate caution, doubt, gloom, sadness or depression, and lean toward the masculine. This could be vastly improved with the use of vibrant colors other than just the occasional pop of red. Children respond best to bright colors and this actually accelerates his or her mind development—girls in particular showing a greater preference and responsiveness to vivid color. Engage your child with clear, bright colors and you will soon see the positive effect in terms of interest, engagement and attitude.

This is book two in the Mindful Mantras and it is great. Ms .Laurie Wright has a way of making these important ideas easier. This Book is about, I Matter. The girl saw a baby crying in the park. She went over and soon the baby was giggling and that made her feel fuzzy. Her brother was sick, she took him a blanket and tissue and she feels glad. There are more examples. At the end ofeach.one , she says, "I Matter'. At the end of the book you will need either a picture of your child or you will need a pencil or crayon. Good luck with the rest of the book.
I just wanted to let you know, "You Matter!!!"
I found this book on Amazon for free and an honest review.

What I would give to have books like this and the rest of the series when I was a kid. All of them not only say that it's okay to feel the way you do but gives you a few constructive ideas on what to do about them. Action steps, it's all about moving forward even when you're feelings say no.

While I really think "I matter" is a very important affirmation to teach children, I'm not sure the examples here really sell the message in the most effective way.
