Prim & proper meets naughty! There's just something so fun about that. A Matter of Sin was a delightfully charming story of a woman searching for excitement and finding something she never thought she'd have again...love and romance. Aws.

The quick of it is that Seth's mother--who is determined to see him married and carry on the family line--has invited all of the elegible young ladies from Society to a country party in hopes one of them will snag her son's eye. But it's not those oh-so-youn

A Matter of Sin- The Ladies of Pleasure # 1 by Jess Michaels is a 2014 Samhain publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a delightfully wicked and steamy historical romance set in the Regency Period era. There is a new and titillating book circulating entitled “Ladies Book of Pleasures”. Now this book is pretty naughty stuff for regency times and it speaks frankly of what a lady should do to enjoy certain pleasures in life.
Lady Isabel Avenbury has

I absolutely can't say how excited I was when I heard Jess was beginning a new series. Yes it was sad when she ended her Pleasure Wars series but I'm excited for this new one!

So we have Lady Isabel Avenbury, who is considering the idea of taking lover after she's left widowed by her two or three times her senior husband. She shares this information with her two best friends and they agree, somewhat with her plans and hope for the best. But she has to marry of

As a fan of Julia Quinn and Lorraine Heath I found myself drawn to this series starter as the style and banter is reminiscent of those authors. Ms. Michaels joins their ranks by crafting an entertaining story where two immensely likable characters must choose between love and happiness or duty and obligation. Amidst this emotional struggle is unrelenting sexual tension, delightful and supportive friends, and heart-wrenching decision making that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end.

First off I have to say that a new Jess Michaels' book is now an auto buy for me. I find them to be quick, hot enjoyable reads.

A Matter of Sin is no exception. What I liked most about this book is that it isn't the usual HR fare with the virgin and the man-whore. Not that I don't love those books, because the Lord knows that do but it is nice to change it up a bit once in a while. The other reason that I enjoyed this book so much.....no major angst or misunderstandings between the two main chara

Great start to a new Jess Michaels' series. I have read a lot of Jess' books and have loved everyone of them. This one is no exception. This book is a little different from her other series. There are no tortured heroes/heroines. Isabel and Seth are truly nice people and the book is very sweet (but do not think this is all sugar, there is definitely spice). I really enjoyed reading how they grew to love each other through talking (it was not all about lust). Isabel always puts others before hers ...more

You can not help but love one of Jess Michaels' stories. This one was no different. From the first page to the last, I was held in awe of the hero and the heroine. This is the first book in her new series, "The Ladies Book of Pleasures" and what a beginning!
Oh yes, scandalous, yes, simply scandalous and wickedly delicious! Ms. Michaels understands how to draw and hold a reader into her world of Regency, with one of her tales of passion, finding true love against all odds and did,I mention passion

I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful read. The writing flows smoothly and there's great character development. I fell in love with Isabel and Seth, and was rooting for them from the first page. Their love affair was not predictable, which made it an even more enjoyable read. The ending was quite different than I expected and absolutely loved it!

I also enjoyed the tender moments between Isabel and her sister. I particularly loved this dialogue: "Find your own happiness. To see you settled would

I’m somewhat of a picky reader. For me to love a book, the author’s writing style has to ‘click’ with me. The characters’ dialogue has to be real. I need to fall in love with the hero, while at the same time hoping against hope that he falls in love with the heroine. Their chemistry has to jump off of the pages, and I want to feel the romance. This book delivered on all of those counts. The forbidden lovers storyline may not be new, but the way Jess Michael’s delivers it, I have a hard time reme ...more

Great fun sexy story from Jess Michaels. She is an automatic buy for me. This book is about a man with obligations and the women he is falling for is not suitable. It is a great story. The H is a guy I would like to know in person and while he was not a virgin hero I liked that he didn't seem like he would have an std either. The h was great. She was complex person who I could see wanting to hang out with. I will be honest I didn't truly understand her feelings because she was barren in her firs ...more

A new series, another GEM!!!

This is one author that I one-click automatically. I was looking forward to this new book, and start to a new series, and Ms Michaels did not disappoint!!!!

I loved the journey with Seth and Isabel.... there were parts in the book where they said each other's name, and I could hear it echo in my brain. I could FEEL the passion through the pages. I could FEEL the angst, the desire.... it was a really moving story.

A fantastic read that I absolutely adored. It’s a steamy historical romance that is amazing, Ms. Michaels knows how to write some great scenes. It’s a light and fun read that I enjoyed from start to finish. I highly recommend this book, I related well to Isabel, and I think other women will too. I highly recommend this book, it’s a great start to a new series. I look forward to more from Ms. Michaels.

Jess Michaels knows how to write a good romance! I loved the story of Seth and Isabel and can't wait for more in the series. I was a little sad there wasn't an epilogue and am hoping we see more of these characters in the upcoming books.

Great Story

I love everything Jess Michael's writes. This new series is going to be great. I can't wait for the next one. The love in this book was so sweet, but it never says if they had children, well maybe in the second book it will say.

A Matter of Sin is the first book in The Ladies' Book of Pleasure series. The author's warning: Found within are highly scandalous books that trigger passionate desires, surrender in the orangery, and possibly true love.

It was a melancholy historical romance romp that kept a good pace and made an interesting story where the Hero and Heroine deal directly with Society's expectations and family duty, and hopefully overcome what is proper and expected, to possibly have what their hearts desire.

This is the first of this series I’ve read. I always enjoy Jess’ books and this was no exception. I really liked the characters of Seth and Isabel. You really have to feel sorry for them during the story. A good and enjoyable read. I would like to purchase ‘The Ladies’ Book of Pleasure’ because it sounds like fun. Much more practical than the Karma Sutra and written for women!
