A brief, informative booklet (73pgs incl. pictures) on the blue whale .... touching base on pretty much the essentials ... I particularly admired how technology is used in the research of these whales - specifically, the use of aerial drones to survey their behaviour (pictures/film). Of course, some of the whales are tagged, too - so that year long voyages are documented too.
That being said, we still know little about these mysticetis (ie. baleen whales). The ROM team involved in the mapping of the blue whale's genome does pioneer work in the field.
Short informative read. I had the ability to the the Blue Whale exhibit while in Toronto at the ROM. The book was a nice review of everything that they had in the museum. Nice reminder of the visit. I’m a diver and this is really close to my heart. Only issue was there seems to be a page missing. Page 46 has ...”teeth to study (soft” at the end of the page and nothing else. Page 47 starts a new header. It appears an entire paragraph is missing since this is only 8 words long on this paragraph.
