Fasten your seatbelt and get ready for take-off!
This book is a lovely colourful illustrated one, which highlights the importance that it doesn't matter if you are a girl you can have a career that is traditionally male dominated.
This has rhyme in that children love to identify as well as an issue with Mitch another plane, with the them having to work together Pilot Jane solves an issue. (Very hard not to drop spoilers!)
Although this was a very enjoyable book my one negative and it has come from a teaching professional is that this book is great for the girls but it may not interest boys a lot, which I feel is an important aspect for picture books. It is important that books try to capture their interests to try and hook them into reading and I am not sure this book does that for boys. Like I said this is just a educational observation.
I would like to thank the publisher for sending this in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely adore reading with my children it is such a lovely thing to experience especially when they will pick a book and then climb up on my knee asking me to read the story.
From the characters to the story it is such a delightful book that will capture your childrens imagination just like it has with my two little ones. We have recently come back from Florida on holiday so anything to do with aeroplanes are a big hit at the moment.
I love the fact that the book introduces countries into the story and that there is also a brilliant moral to the story. As most people know siblings have their share of disagreements and I loved the message of teamwork within this story. It is perfect for my two little ones to begin to understand how helping each other is a much better and easier way of achieving something. A fantastic message to send out to children but in such a fun way.
The rhyming that is used is perfect, it flowed effortlessly as I read the story and made reading this book such a pleasure. The illustrations work so well and my children were always pointing to the pictures. They really helped to make the story come to life and make it all the more enjoyable.
I would absolutely love to read more books about Pilot Jane and her plane Rose as I think it would make a fantastic series!
Pilot Jane and the Runaway Plane has become a firm favourite in our house. I highly recommend this book and that is after reading this book probably over twenty times and I still haven't got bored of reading it. I guess that just goes to show how much fun Pilot Jane really is.
A fun and very enjoyable adventure!
Many thanks to Boolino & Caroline Baxter at Big Sunshine Books for our copy. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
