All About the D

Rate this book
He's the sinfully sexy, off-limits client whose naughty blog showcases his best "asset." His prim and proper attorney has never been more tempted to mix business with pleasure... All About the D is a sexy romantic comedy from USA Today bestselling author Lex Martin and bestselling author Leslie McAdam!

Temptation has never come in a hotter package.

You know how people say you can never believe what you read on the interwebs? That a hot guy online is probably a creeper with a beer gut and a shoe fetish, not the sexy beast he pretends to be?

So I had no clue that the anonymous blogger who contacted my law firm about his naughty website would be droolworthy in real life. Not that I'm interested in him in that way.

Attorneys can't go around sleeping with their clients. Not even if he is the most beautiful man I've ever met and so ridiculously smart he makes my nerdy-girl heart sigh.

Besides, he has too much on the line to risk taking a chance on the insane chemistry building between us. We both do.

I've always followed the rules. Too bad he makes me want to break each and every one of them.

All About the D is a full-length standalone. Due to adult situations and sexual content, it's recommended for readers over the age of 18.

➳Keeping things professional on and off the field is hard when both Evie and Josh are involved in this benevolent love story that captivates your insights to loving the bad, and hating the good…

➳Evie, the successful lawyer who is looking to become partner at her firm, is the “unattractive” piece of work at her company. The one, no one does a double take to appreciate the beauty that in reality she truly is. After that one phone call with Josh, and finding out what his side business is and how he handles it, Evie’s help is necessary at first. Later on, we dot that her help is actually NEEDED. Via a phone call, they get to know a little bit about each other through their respected and smothering voices, but when they meet in person… THAT is another scenario.

➳Josh is the ultimate definition of that one sibling in a huge successful family that goes outside the norms of what the family follows. His family name is a well known one, however, for him it does not mean anything but just something that he wants to get away from. When he contacts Evie on behalf of the founding owner of his side business, he does not expect to be intrigued by his potential lawyer. His personally is one of a kind, one that you really want to just smother with love and passion. One that is unique but at the same time cliche. When it comes down to women, he is the one that every single, romantic gal out there in both the real and fantasy world is looking for;
“Random hookups aren’t my style. I’m not after quantity. Never have been. Finding women isn’t a problem for me— finding the right one is…”

➳Though both Josh and Evie have put themselves in a risky matter that have broken their hearts to believing there could be something more between them, than just that one night of passionate love making and experiencing things they never thought would be possible with another human being, Lex and Leslie, both tend to bring aspects to the story that make you want to cry and laugh at the same time. Their writing not only captivates the reader for more, but they both bring out the best out of a story that is meant to break your heart, meant for you to through your kindle and blame and shout tot he heavens why this and so is happening, but at the same time it makes you want to hug both Josh and Evie for staying strong and fighting the inevitable.

➳Overall, this was such an incredible love story that has officially been added to my book shelf! I had missed Lex Martin’s writing, and this comeback is what I was looking for, and I am also certain it is what the rest of her readers have been looking for as well. And as for Leslie McAdam… let’s just say that I am looking forward to her future writings ;)

I am sure a lot of you will remember that Tumblr page that was doing rounds last year with the guy that was posting humorous pictures of his dick in different poses, settings and scenarios, I am going to go out on a limb and say that page may have offered up a little inspiration for this writing duo, and the inspiration it gave produced an outstanding romance, with a twist of forbidden about it thrown in just to keep the reader even more invested.

I’m a modern day flasher in a rain-coat…

I loved Josh and Evie pretty much from the get-go, plain-Jane lawyer without much of a life to speak of, gets swept off her feet by the Internets most famous cock. Their attraction is instant, but their relationship is not without its hurdles and problems.

I’ve never seen one this size in real life. I feel like I’m paddling down the Amazon, and I just spotted my first anaconda…

Not going to give away a huge amount more about the plot, as I think this is a story best served without much information going into, but if you are like me and you love to read a romance that is completely different, yet still offers up all the aspects of the traditional you need to find fulfilment in your reading then It’s All About the D fits that requirement really well.

This has to be the strangest scenario ever.

The authors confirm at the back of the book that this isn’t the end of this story, and is just the beginning and I am really happy to know that Josh and Evie’s BFF’s; Drew and Kendall are going to have their story told at some point in the future. Both played pretty integral parts in this book, but were definitely what you would class as less-than-friendly towards each other at its end.

Eggplants all around!! Hahah
Ok serious review right. Here we go… :-p
Evie & Josh

Evie is fantastic, I loved her character. She has so much heart it just took some time for her to shine, but shine she does.

Josh.. yummy, yummy Josh has an image to uphold, a family name to keep in good standing, but who is Josh? That is the questions. I kind of loved that he became himself through this story.

Evie has a hard time finding her body sexy, or she tries to hide herself with baggy clothes. Growing up its hard developing faster or “more” than other girls, guys think exactly what they want. And it’s sad but girls have to contend with hearsay. So that part of her story I connected with so very well, it was as if it was wrote about me.

I freaking loved that Josh not only showed her but told her how much her body was a turn on but for her to be proud of it. Don’t hide it, it’s you and you are totally ok, beautiful inside and out.

This story is pretty freaking awesome and I loved that we got to talk about eggplants, and eggplant pictures online. Yep you heard that right. Girls look too, and like to… What a shocker I KNOW!! Hahaha..

I loved this story from the beginning right to the end, I couldn’t get enough.
I can’t wait to hear about Drew’s story because being the best friend of Josh he was hella funny but you also see that there is something under what you see. And I want to know what is eating at the guy.
Kendall, Evie’s bestie too she is all smiles and light but you also know there is pain there and I want no.. wait.. need to know their story.

So grab this book.. Eggplants, and love, and friendship this book has it all.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Review @ Vanilla & Spice Books

Warning: this review will be a bit spoiler-y - if you don't want any spoilers please stop reading here.

The premise of this story, the youngest son of a prestigious Portland family having a pornographic blog, caught my attention. Joshua Cartwright needs an attorney to protect his identity and rights so he calls a law firm and makes an appointment with young Evie Mills. They meet up and they are instantly drawn to one another. After having heard what her new potential client does she needs to pitch it to her bosses and get them on board representing him. He is declined which opens up the opportunity for them to pursue their growing attraction. So what went wrong?

The first 35% I was intrigued. Granted the first bit was a little bit slow but that didn't bother me all that much since I knew the story would pick up, according to early opinions of blogger friends.

Evie is portrayed as a bit bookish, not caring much about her appearance and wearing frumpy clothes and a bit insecure. Josh is the gorgeous guy with the good heart who is actually looking for a meaningful relationship. I loved how they started to become friends although they escalated pretty soon into something more. I didn't mind because it wasn't unnatural. However and here the spoiler bits start:

I wanted to love this story - unfortunately, it didn't work for me. The characters were likable but the inconsistencies spoiled them for for me. As always, I'll say that this might be a case of it's me and not you and you might experience this story completely differently. Make sure you read other reviews too. For me, unfortunately, it wasn't a winner.

5 D-LICIOUS STARS!!!

Oh. Hell. Yes. #GimmeTheD

THIS BOOK WAS EVERYTHING! So hot! So fun! So damn sexy! I had the biggest smile on my face while reading this story! I never wanted it to end! Josh is EVERYTHING! I was captivated from the first chapter and couldn't stop reading! God. I loved this book so HARD. Yes I said HARD. Once you have the D you'll know what I'm talking about! RAWR! Lex and Leslie made magic together and I hope to read more from this duo!

So you’d never suspect I spend my nights photographing my impressive junk for a NSFW blog. Don’t roll your eyes. I’m not bragging. I have millions of followers who’ll tell you they live for my posts.

I’m like a superhero, saving humanity one dick pic at a time.

Except leading a double life means I need someone to help me protect my anonymity, so that no one, especially my family, ever discovers my online celebrity.

When I call one of the most respected law firms in town, I expect quality legal advice and confidentiality. Not a sinfully sexy attorney whose dangerous curves and soul-piercing gray eyes make me want to personally demonstrate my particular skill set.

I shouldn’t be tempted.

Leslie McAdam and Lex Martin definitely make a fabulous team in All About The D! I can say for a fact that I have never laughed as often or as hard with any other book as I have with this one. Not only are there are some truly hilarious situations, but also funny little quips and word choices that are peppered within this book that had me giggling and snorting throughout. I definitely earned some side eye and the occasionally raised brow when I'd guffaw while reading this gem!

I absolutely adored our hero, Josh. Despite growing up in a very well-known and wealthy family, he is extremely down to earth and pretty much your normal guy compared to his proper and uppity family. He is what every girl dreams of and more, but his societal status and charming good looks have all of the wrong kind of women seeking him out. His secret extracurricular activities definitely attract a rabid female following.

Evie is kind of stuck in a mundane cycle. She's not one to reach outside of her comfort zone and do something spontaneous. It's one of the reasons her last ex claimed for breaking up with her. Her self-image and confidence is not quite where it should be, though she considers taking a risk in the name of making something of herself as a lawyer.

If you want to laugh your ass off, hurt so good from all the feels, and tingle in your lady bits, then this book is for you! I cannot tell you how funny and enjoyable this book was to read. I read it twice and it was still hilarious the second time around!

**Advisory**
This product may cause sideways glances, raised eyebrows, and rolled eyes by those in proximity and not directly effected by content of the book. Those reading should take caution with tissues and panty liners, as laughing and happy lady bits are inevitable. Do not eat or drink whilst reading as sneaky, funny quips will pop up out of nowhere and may create a choking hazard.

➦Ah, heck... 5 stars. Because who doesn't like a foot long sandwich?

➦So what that it's an inch short? Trust me, it would hardly make a difference. lol

no comment

➦For those of you who are wondering wtf I'm on about, this book is about a hero and his popular blog where he posts pictures of his genitals. You know, I thought this was going to annoy me to no end, because, honestly? How many pics of the same dick can you look at before you get le bored?

➦The answer is on the bottom of this review. Just kidding, there's no formula. But if I were to guess I'd say the more inches, the longer your attention span.

➦Anyway. This dude, he's from the rich of the rich and nobody in his super elite family knows about the "extracurricular activity" happening on the internet. And because nobody can ever... EVER find out about it, the bearer of our big D needs legal representation.

➦The rich people problems, seriously.

so bored, so bored, what to do, what to do...

If I could just...

Smile for the camera, guys!

➦I'm sorry for this super uninformative review. lol I loved the book. I thought it was well written and gave me the feels. Absolutely ADORED the male narrator of the audiobook. If you like romances with secret relationships and whole lot of D in them then pick this one up!

All About the D follows a buttoned-up attorney and her new client, whose business is all about, well his dick. It all started with a dare and now Josh has a very lucrative NSFW business focused on his package. When phone meetings aren't enough though and he meets his attorney face to face for the first time he has the urge to do a little show-and-tell with his money maker, and damn the consequences.

This book was overall a really fun read and honestly not something I've ever read about before. A Hero that has a business all about dick pics, definitely not even something I've heard of before. But these authors were able to give us something completely new and fun, yet not in a cheap and creepy kind of way. Instead Josh was actually a very sweet Hero that I loved seeing with Evie.

Evie was also a good character to read about and I liked how open she was about Josh's line of work. But she was also my one complaint about this book because I just didn't understand why in the very beginning she was characterizes as the frumpy one of her office, yet had an apparent wardrobe change early on before she even met Josh in person. It just seemed a little random to me.

Putting aside Josh's work this was also a very cute and sweet story and I loved seeing him with Evie. They fit really well together and could also be very hot when they were together too, which was great to see. Bottom line, this is a definite recommend from me.

I think I need to check on the blog real quick.

I'm so light and happy and hopeful after reading this book.
I loved both author's writing individually, and now I'm experiencing the duo and I'm hooked!

The book was the perfect mixture of love, huntimes, sexiness and even angst moments when everything seems to go wrong.

The characters captivated me in such a deep level and when I closed the book, I was already missing them.

Evie is an attorney, a really good one, that might be tired of the pressure and so many hours devoted to a work that not always recognizes her effords.

She is professional, a little introspective, and also funny, sweet, indepedent, loyal, so smart and sexy without knowing it. A total girl-next-door but with even more appeal.

I loved her at every page and for her ethics, her strength, her vulnerability, her kindness and honesty. She was one heck of a heroine.

"She laughs, and it makes me smile. I'm finding I'd do anything to make this girl smile"

Joshua "Josh" Cartwright is from elite. Coming from a wealthy and famous family (and a brother running for the senate), he exudes grace and discreption. Well....or so they thought, because his D is whole other story.

Based on bet with his crazy best friend Drew, Josh starts showing all he's got (and he's got a lot!) on a blog - fastly turned popular - All About The D.

You can imagine what this is about lol

Needing representantion for this, um, secret side job, he ends up reaching up to Evie to defend his interests and assets.

What they both don't expect is that their chemistry is so off the charts, their connection is undeniable, their feelings are all over the place and that, sooner than what they could think, they become so important to one another.

"Is Josh Cartwright the universe's way of giving me a high five after years of giving me the finger?"

I loved them apart, with their best friends (Kendall and Drew, both crazy, both loyal), and I loved them even more together.

It was so refreshing and heart warming how sweet and tender they were, how they were always trying to touch one another, and not only on a sexual way, but also on a nurturing and loving way.

They wanted to care, protect and cherish one another. It was so deep and fullfilling, and what I loved is that it was so real, the way the authors gave them life made everything come to life right before my eyes. It was as if I was really seeing them in person, and I believed their feelings.

I laughed out loud, I had unshed tears in my eyes, I got mad at shallow people, I rooted for the crazy ones, even if they made mistakes, I loved them and I didn't want it to end.

At first, it was All About The D, but by the end, it was all about their love.

3 Oh My Stars

I read anything by Lex Martin and I’m always up for a new author. I read Lex Martin books without reading the blurb, I love reading books blindly. For this one, I HIGHLY recommend you read the blurb prior to reading the book. All About the D is a comical, light-hearted read with an over-the-top storyline.

I’m not a big fan of light-hearted books, but I do read them. The book starts off slow and it took me a good 30% before I got into it. Once I got past that point I was really into the book. Joshua Cartwright is a part of a highly prominent family. He also has an alter ego (this is how I would describe him). He has a taboo blog that he keeps on the down low.

I found it a bit hard to get past the whole plot of the book. Mainly, what Joshua does on the side. Yes, his blog was hard for me to get past! It seriously was the whole point of the book. I just couldn’t picture ANY person with his background having that kind of blog. I think I may have been reading too much into it though. I also thought all the Photoshop stuff he does was kind of silly (but I digress).

Josh needs a lawyer to protect his identity and Evie is the person to help him, the only thing is, he is really attracted to Evie. I really didn’t understand this part of the book either. I didn’t understand why Josh couldn’t use an alias under legal documents. I couldn’t understand why he couldn’t trust lawyers. I mean, Hollywood stars get plastic surgery but we never know because of NDA’s. It just didn’t make sense to me. I know this is a small fraction part of the book, but it really got under my skin.

The storyline between Josh and Evie is forbidden love. He likes her, but she’s his lawyer and so it makes things complicated. This is where the angst level is increased. I’m also not into angst so this part made my heart beat.

Evie was a frustrating character for me. I didn’t agree with some of her actions and I think she created more problems. It also added tension to the book, so there you go.

Overall, All About the D is an entertaining book. It’s very meaty and has a lot of good parts. I like the way it was written, I think I just had issues with things that didn’t really need to be issues in the first place, but my brain wouldn’t shut it off!

Regardless, a lot of people loved this book. I think it’s because it’s just overall funny and cute.

Overall Opinion: I liked this for what it was. I went in expecting a light, sexy, funny read and I got it. As for something deep and insightful? Not so much. BUT! I wasn't counting on it being deep and insightful, so it worked for me. It'd be a fun one for in between the heavier reads to serve as a fluffer ;) For my safety gang gals -- please read the OW drama and cheating spoilers below to see if certain things will bother you. It didn't bother me personally, but it usually takes a lot to do that.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Evie and Josh's story. They meet when Josh seeks confidential counsel for his pornographic blog at Evie's law firm. The sparks fly when they meet, but they try their hardest to remain professional. After a few encounters, they can no longer fight the pull they feel towards each other and start a secret relationship and fall in love. There is some family and career drama, some sexy times, some laugh-out-loud moments...and they get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Evie and Josh's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed, and I thought it flowed well. The ending felt a tad rushed in that everything was wrapped up very cleanly.

Instalove: No. Instalust? Yes.

H rating: 3.5 stars. Josh. I liked him. I think he could've been a little more sensitive to Evie's needs at times.

h rating: 3.5 stars. Evie. I liked her, but I do think she could've communicated better at times.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: Not IMO

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had decent closure with what I would call a HFN ending, though some might be fine calling it a HEA

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: This one should be either Safe or Safe with exception for most safety gang readers depending on personal preferences.

I was super excited about the premise but unfortunately this one didn't deliver as I thought it would.
Neither liked the hero or heroine enough to care.
I felt pretty confident I would enjoy this story, the mystery and complications behind Josh 'real' identity in opposition to his secret NSFW blogging activities, the forbidden romance between him and Evie... But focus was directed at unnecessary drama and Evie's insecurities more than anything else.

I had many issues with statements and actions from the hero (D stands for Douchebag in that case.). Josh started to rub me the wrong way not long after the book started, and if I had envisioned any sort of rubbing from that D, it certainly wasn’t of that kind. What first appeared as cockiness from him, transformed into basic man douchebaggery. It definitely wasn't feeling like a good rubbing, but more like an STD itching. It even compelled me to stop reading and make a mini rant of FB about it.
Spoken like a real douchebag in the name of all men, that's Josh to you :
“Evie I swear you're hot, no man wants to curl up with a twig.”

Say if you are a thin girl, how do you feel reading that? Strike that, you are a woman how does it feel to put someone down to make yourself feel better?
Well, I felt absolutely wooed and reassured about my “curves” at the expense of a thin woman out there. *sarcasm*
Here's a tip for you, Josh, and feel free to pass it on to all your bros out there in Romancelandia , how about next time you simply tell your woman you like her, naming what you love about her without having to put others to shame? huh? Sisterhood is a thing, and as curvy as I am I didn't like reading about what you had to say about women with a different body type. You prefer curvy women? Good for you.

I'll be honest from that moment on, I didn't feel like this story was salvageable but I kept on anyway, curious about the outcome.

Also, double standards ran high in this book :
“Maybe it's caveman of me to want to beat this guy's ass for making her feel bad, but it pains me that this dickhead shamed her.”

Come on Josh, why don't you try a little of your own caveman medicine and give yourself a beating first?
Josh neither could wrap his caveman head around the fact that jerking off to pictures and videos sent by other women to his inbox was a hard limit for Evie. But when she tries to make him understand how he would feel if the roles were reversed he replies with a golden Douchebag statement. Oh Josh, isn't there any hope for you at all?
-Did you use these videos from these women propositioning you to get yourself off?
-Yes, but it didn't mean anything.
-So if guys sent me videos jerking off...telling me they want to fuck me... that would be okay?
-Evelyn, that's not the same.

Really? Joshy!

Let's take a minute here and take the time to make a list. A list of all the heroine’s issues.

I rolled my eyes one time too many about them. Ex issues, daddy issues, self worth issues, mommy issues, confidence issues. You think about any issue, Evie has it. TOO MANY ISSUES!
I do like a fragile heroine with insecurities but Evie was piling up too many of them, most I have to say were just clichés as insecurity goes in romance books.
“When I was growing up it was just me and my dad. And, well, he wasn't great at teaching me how to use mascara.”

*rolls eyes*
My ex, Elliott. He told me I was boring and predictable.

Excuse me for saying this but, how predictable indeed!
“It wasn't... I couldn't... He wasn't into it, and he made me feel like I was the problem.”
“...Without a mom, I didn't have lessons in how to be feminine.”

Because your mom would have made you feel feminine enough to act good enough for your idiot boyfriend in bed? What kind of reasoning is that anyways? Forget I said anything about having insecurities, Evie is an idiot! Ugh!
“When I was in high school, because of these”—she points to her chest—“every guy assumed I was easy. I wasn't but I got this reputation.”
“...I had a the fucking scarlet letter on me, only it was the ‘S’ for slut. Feeling sexy meant getting attention.”

Another thing I thought was overdone was the references to the heroine's breasts and other “curves. I stopped counting how many times the hero ogled and idolized her boobs (yeah, he's a man, I know) as the accent put on her bosom, tits, chest, breasts, boobs, curves, hips, ass, bottom came just so overstated and in total contradiction with how the heroine actually feels about herself and her image.

Add to this secondary characters I'm not interested to touch with a ten foot pole, an ex-girlfriend thrown in there just to add another layer of drama and there goes my experience reading All About the D... Distasteful

Now, it's my understanding this is supposed to be a somehow lighthearted and fun sexy romance, but to me it was everything but.
It seems I'm in the minority with my opinion anyway so I'm encouraging you to read other reviews, or give this book a try if you think it sounds like something you could enjoy. Unfortunately, All About the D screamed Douchebaggery for me.

Forbid us something, and that thing we desire.
Geoffrey Chaucer, The Canterbury Tales

This is the story of Josh & Evie. Theirs is a weird love story and they are kind of a forbidden couple.

Evie is a beautiful woman who works as an attorney for a traditional firm. Josh is the son of a very respectable family, whose brother is trying to be a senator.

Josh is a successful architect and a businessman with a secret online identity. He has a pornographic blog named “ALL ABOUT THE D”, where he puts the photos & videos of his d*ck! He has millions of fans & followers because he does it in an artistic way!

Is it his way of rebelling the strict rules of his family or does the guy like porn, you may wonder, and it seems to be both.

Josh had a difficult time after breaking up with her cheating ex and this blog helped him ease his mind and get over it.

He actually starts the blog on a bet but later, he enjoys the attention he gets. However, he doesn’t want to mix this secret identity with real life.

Josh and Evie meet when Josh needs an attorney to protect his anonymity.

When they meet, they are instantly attracted to one another. First, her firm doesn’t want to represent him and they are free to be together but then the firm accepts the case and they are suddenly forbidden to one another (they are now lawyer & client).

As they are struggling with this forbidden situation, they understand what they mean to each other. Then comes a few more problems, of course. It eventually ends happily with a very sweet epilogue :)

One may question the character of the hero who runs a blog like that and even question how on earth the heroine accepts it so easily (it is just natural, I did some judgement of my own while reading as well) but other than this issue, it is a fun and hot romance with sweet characters who do some sacrifices of their own to be a couple. Also, there is no cheating if you ignore the online photos and videos of his sexy abs and big “you know what”…

Although the hero isn't one we are accustomed to (with a blog about his d*ck), he is no man-whore himself. He doesn't go and have random sex with women. He is looking for the right one to love and trust.

Therefore, although what he is doing is hard to approve, he is portrayed as such a sweet character that it becomes easy to like him in the end no matter what.

Final words on the book:

The whole concept of this book is a bit awkward and it makes you want to pull your hair a few times as there are scenes in which she helps him to prepare a hand-job video for his blog, or scenes of the two of them preparing the molds for vibrators that are going to be in the shape of his d*ck, etc. Crazy, right? God, she is so cool about the whole situation for a long while that it is a bit shocking and unbelievable. She only starts to get jealous when she reads the e-mails sent by his fans. Finally!!!!

For all these reasons, this is a very difficult book to rate. Some people give it 5 stars and some 1 or 2 only. That shows it isn't an easy read...

Of course, it wasn't an ideal romance for me. I kept asking myself why he would do it. I really had a hard time trying to get past what Joshua does. Ergo -2 points of mine. But still, the book has its sweet and hot moments that make it differ from cheap dirty books or cheesy ones.

Some quotes from it...

“So you need a transaction reviewed? I can do that. What area of law are we talking?”
Her voice was confident and sure. And sexy as fuck. “A new product.” About ten inches of product.
“I have experience reviewing various types of business contracts, including licensing agreements, as well as securing copyright protection and forming corporate entities. I’m confident that we can service your needs.”
The moment she mentioned she could “service all my needs,” I only barely kept back a laugh.

***

Random hookups aren’t my style. I’m not after quantity. Never have been. Finding women isn’t a problem for me—finding the right one is.

***

“I would be pleased to take on the challenges of representing you, but to be frank, I want to make sure you’re who you say you are.”
That’s funny. “I haven’t said who I am.”
“That’s the problem.”

***

“I missed this. Missed you,” I whisper against her ear. And I don’t just mean the sex. I mean the whole night. Us laughing and fucking around and talking. It’s probably stupid to fall so fast for a woman, any woman, but with Evie I want to let go. With Evie, I want to take that chance.

***

This is what we do. We make each other insane with lust and then come home and rip each other’s clothes off. Yes, it’s crazy, but it’s our kind of crazy.

Josh Cartwright, 28, is an architect from a prominent socialite Portland family by day and an artsy dick pic blogger by night. Evelyn Mills, 27, is the fledgling attorney he contacts when business prospects arise (no pun intended) out of his website.

“‘I don’t do anything half-cocked.’
‘You did this full-schlong, dude.’”

The story started off cute and witty with plenty of puns and innuendo. Josh won me over in the opening pages when he affirmed that, “Random hookups aren’t my style. I’m not after quantity. Never have been.” You just don't read these words nearly often enough in romance these days!

But while Josh seemed too good to be true and the premise was fresh, the execution had its share of issues. On the surface this seems like it would be a fun, light-hearted tale, but the plot at different junctures gets weighed down by unnecessary drama, stereotypical characters, and messages that come off both too strong as well as contradictory.

One of the biggest obstacles I had connecting with the story centered around the heroine. Evie is immature and utterly insecure. I prefer strong, secure heroines and she’s pretty far from that. And it’s the almost constant talk about Evie’s body that not only grew old fast, but took away from the mutual interests they had in common, things that contributed to a mature relationship, making it seem like both of them were obsessed with her body. This book might have been more aptly titled All About the C because the word “curves” appears 21 times (make that 25 when you add in “curvy”), and I lost count of all the references to her chest (and every synonym for the twins). And then Josh loses a lot of integrity when he asserts that Evie is “real” and “genuine” because she doesn’t look hungry, and she’s not a “twig.” Oh and that “no man” wants to cuddle up to that. Well I hate to burst “Josh” or the authors’ misinformed perceptions but there are plenty of REAL women in the world who are thin, whether it be genetics, metabolism, healthy living, or a combination of those factors, and just because a woman is small boned or petite doesn’t make her undesirable or any less of a women any more than it means that she starves herself. This is a form of body shaming too, and it’s not cool! And as if that’s not bad enough, Josh becomes a total hypocrite a few pages later when he rallies against someone else for a similar offense of judging someone based off their looks. So by the time Evie turned irrational with Josh over the situation that she’s known this whole time, I was already done with this romance.

Told via Evie and Josh’s dual first person POV, this story had plenty of potential but, aside from the epilogue, it underwhelmed at most turns. The angsty drama, whether brewing in the background or in the forefront, keeps this from being a true humorous romcom that it’s labeled to be. Let's not forget that romances should make you feel good, and the hero putting other body types down so the heroine can feel good about herself is NOT a positive portrayal of romance.

First of, I wish I had read this book with a constant d*ck-joke-counter by my side. I assure you, this entire innunedo fest of a book would have broken it.
So, if you are a proper snotty, uppity person who thinks any jokes about sex and it's subdivisions are wrong, or locker room or 12 year old boys' humour.. you might want to close up this book right.. now.

If you enjoy that humour.. well, come on over, we're about to be best friends. And welcome to the world of Evie and Josh, which is innuendos from start to finish. Also, Drew. The Demerit, drinking foul mouthed buddy of Josh who is just endearing and I need his story, asap. And Kendall, who I just want to worship, because she is freaking amazing. Never forget Chauncey, cause he is sorta a main character, too ;) This story.. it has it all, amazing lead characters, intriguing side characters *cough second book, please cough* an absolutely unique and so very interesting plotline, and a thoroughly enjoyable, yet leaving me thoughtful, way of writing and bringing it all to life. Yes, they exist, and no one burst my bubble right now.

Ms Martin and Ms McAdam managed to create a story that made me laugh, from the first to the last page, and even made me shed a tear, if from laughter or being moved, well I won't give it all away. It left me wanting to be Evie, because Evie is just the bomb.com. What a unique, quirky, loving character with the most genuine, believable, lovely arc to go through. And Josh.. what to say about the sex-loving, enthusiastic, empathetic, gentle giant that is Josh? First of all, glasses. I am a sucker for glasses. Urgh. And then, his words and actions.. he is a dream come true. Really.

This book left me snickering, smirking, blushing, laughing out loud, snorting and generally needing a cold shower throughout. Advice: Maybe think twice about reading on a dead silent commuter train at 8 in the morning. Just a self-preservatory thought.
If you want to laugh, seriously, genuinely, from-the-heart-and-belly-laugh, take a step closer. But if you also want complicated characters, non-stereotypical twists and turns, deeper thematics about the delicate balance of keeping up appearances vs telling truths, the benefits of either, how to truly pursue what you want out of life, and many more complex themes all in the seemingly easy setting of a book entitled "All About The D".. then this is absolutely a book you need to read.

This book did me in! Did. Me. In. It's ADORABLE! A refreshingly creative story, to-die-for hilarious situations and dialogue, and absolutely amazing characters. It’s a total package RomCom that is destined to be a classic.
Evie and Josh are gorgeously written and so real you’ll want to hold onto them forever. I loved their totally believable, melt-your-panties and make you swoon, journey so obviously created with love.
Leslie McAdam and Lex Martin need to write another book, stat! This is one awesome writing duo who click together perfectly. All About The D is smooth like good whiskey, bubbly like champagne and you'll be drunk on this beautiful story for days!

I have always been the friend that can turn every conversation into prime porn content. The filthy minded individual who looks innocent but has the mouth that would make a sailor blush- that's me. Dirty jokes and innuendo have been my best friends since before puberty. I always thought I was alone...

Now I know better! Lex Martin and Leslie McAdam are obviously my twin sisters and somehow we were separated at birth. I have read several of Lex's stories and am I fan. I have also read all of Leslie's (and may have almost all in signed paperback). I enjoy their writing individually...but this...ALL ABOUT THE D!!!! This is a whole new level.

I spent the entire book snickering, smirking, blushing through an evil cackle, and belly laughing. To say that it was an absolute joy, would be an understatement. I flat out had the best time reading it. The humor, situations, and comments absolutely made it ridiculous but in all the right ways.

If you need...
a "bad boy"
to be held down
lickable abs
naughty behavior
catty b!itches
stuffy parents
and to hurt yourself laughing...

You need All About the D.

If you don't need a read so funny that you...
shoot soda across the room
get an ab workout
snort in public

Then you are more relaxed than I am and clearly won't react in the same juvenile way...you still need All About The D.

Trust me! Your day and week will be a whole lot more fun.

Warning:

Reading this book might result in a residual needs to chuckle at roosters, make "that's what she said" comments, whisper about how hard it is, and generally fall apart at size comments. Stay away from department stores if you have this problem.

If it lasts longer than a few days, please consider telling your doctor All About The D. If you find the side effects are prolonged, be sure to contact everyone on your book friend list with the details.

You have been warned.

LOVED.THIS.BOOK. It was so much more/different than I expected it to be. I expected a rom-com. I didn't expect this story to be so emotional. By 40% in, I was a sobbing mess. I could identify with the characters so much that I was feeling everything. Josh and Evie might very well be in my top 5 book couples. I completely fell in love with them. They were so fun to read. Josh has a thriving blog that artistically shows off his goods that he needs to keep anonymous in order to protect his high class family and that's where Evie comes in. Her law firm gets Josh's call seeking representation. After meeting, sparks fly. I LOVE a good taboo theme and with Evie being Josh's lawyer, there are some boundaries that shouldn't be crossed professionally. I wish I could read this story all over again!

*4.5 STARS*

I had never read anything by Leslie McAdam before. I have, however, read and loved every books written by Lex Martin. This was no exception.

All About the D is the story of Evie and Josh. Evie is a lawyer, an associate in a big Portland firm where she's greatly underappreciated. So, when she gets a potentially BIG client who's not the usual type of clients her firm takes care of, she's intrigued and sees an opportunity to maybe, finally, make partner. This client, of course, is Josh. Josh is a blogger. He makes art... from dick pics. He also makes masturbation gifs cause why not? Problem is Josh's famous blog is anonymous since he comes from a big Portland family which is very much in the spotlight and he would become the family black sheep if people where to find out about who's really behind his blog.

The story is told with both points of views.

The plot was very well written, original and intriguing. I loved all the characters, they were just so very well-written and simply rang true. From the first chapters, I could feel the connection between them and it gave me a whole lot of butterflies!
This book was also ridiculously funny partly due to the fact that Josh wasn't really taking the whole blog thing seriously (meaning there was a lot of dick jokes, which I loved)
I was also perfectly steamy. The connection between the characters was very apparent in their desire for each other especially in their sex scenes which honestly had me squirming.
I flew through this book, it was a very fast read and had me captivated from beginning to end.

To summar it all, this was a great, funny, steamy, original story with amazing characters.
I look forward to reading more from both authors.

4 Estrellas!!

I am not surprised that this duo Lex Martin
and Leslie McAdam's wrote such an
enjoyable, entertaining, sexy book!

This writing duo is like all the great
duo's. Lucy and Ethel, Beauty and the Beast
Peanut Butter and Jelly and the greatest
music duo of all times Lennon and McCartney.

Now about the book, it was such a unique
story and so satisfying. You smile, you get
teary eyed and you get a look at what is
is to make sacrifices and choices to find that
one person who will love you for your faults
and give you the love that you deserve.

The title is perfect but there is so much
to this book that will leave you completely
in love with it. It's more than just the "D".
Its adorable, sexy, you will bump Josh up
to being a swooning glass wearing book
boyfriend. You will admire the strong,
sometimes insecure Evie but so fierce
with staying true to her convictions.

I loved this book, well done Leslie and
Lex!!!

“Sometimes you feel like a dream. Like you’re too good to be true,” I mumble against him.
He pulls back and drifts his hand across my jaw to tilt my face to his before his lips dip to mine. “I know the feeling.”

WHAT THE FREAKING FREAK WAS THAT? First off, wow! JUST WOW! That was epic! I didn't expect that emotional gut punch. At all. Not even a little.

So... here's the thing. You look at this cover and think, "yummo!" Right? It looks hot and light and mmm..hmmm! And you're all kinds of intrigued by it. And then you go to the blurb and you read, and think... "Ohhh, OK! Hot, sexy, easy." You don't really think DEEP FEELS. You know? I didn't. I didn't expect much depth with this one. And that's fine with me. I'm a HUGE fan of light, sexy, smutty goodness! So when I picked up All About The D, that's what I was expecting. And I got that. This book was steamy goodness, all hot things, and I about had SERIOUS "fan-self moments" because there is MAJOR heat in it, but more than that I got PUNCHED IN THE GUT with a mountain of feels and I LOST myself in them. I mean...

OMGGGGGGGGGGGG
OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!
::runs around screaming::

I'm still trying to come down from the absolute high that these characters gave me. Literally, I'm giddy as I write this review. That was like finding the most deliciously decadent piece of chocolate cake! This was a dream, the ultimate reader escape. AHHH. Though I must admit, I did struggle with the first couple of chapters. Introductions are not my favorite thing to read in almost EVERY book. I usually have a hard time unless there is a hard hitting prologue, but around 20% in All About the D my heart got involved, and at 30% I was in love, and at 40% I couldn't even deal with myself until I finished reading.

Downright intoxicating goodness.

And the EMOTIONAL explosion that came with this story? WOW. I just.. I didn't see it coming! It was so many feels. I LOVED them. I cried. I swooned. I ached all over. I felt connected to the story, to the characters. And most of all I LOVED the way I LOVED these characters. They became special to me. I didn't want their story to end. I wanted to keep reading and reading and reading. It was epic. And that ending ::swoonssssssss:: That ending gave this reader LIFE, man. This was the BEST romance. Addictive, steamy, all consuming, pure sweetness. I couldn't put down.

Josh Cartwright comes from a prestigious family. A prominent Portland family. And they conduct themselves in a very proper way. Gossip or anything unsavory is not allowed from one of the Cartwright members. Josh is an architect. A wealthy one. And he is so smart and sexy and savvy. He will have you swooning and falling in love with him. The man's charming. So much so, I wanted to jump through my kindle and get my hands on him. Josh lost a bet with one of his best friends and what came out of that was a very special blog. (LMAO)! You see Josh has a blog where he takes pictures of his dick and puts them up for all his two million followers to see. By day he's an upstanding member of the Cartwright's but by night, he's a a very famous, anonymous (yes, no one knows it's Josh Cartwright) porn blogger. Josh's blog is doing so well now he needs to secure a lawyer who can help him navigate some contracts for some adult toys.

Enter Evelyn Mills... Evie's the lawyer that Josh comes to. She's smart and shy, nerdy and quirky, and most importantly REAL. She's the realest woman Josh has encountered in a long time. Where he comes from everyone is perfect and fake and out to get something, but Evie is different. She's a breath of fresh air. The first time they meet they hit it off and from there a story and forbidden romance ensues that literally gave me LIFE.

I swear, I wanted to LIVE in the sweetness of this romance. I was so enamored with both Josh and Evie. Their connection intoxicated me. I LOVED the way their friendship started and I certainly couldn't get enough of where it went. The sex was HOT HOT HOT. And the feels between these two made my heart pitter patter. I couldn't stop reading. Everything about them, about their lives, about the build of this story, held me captive.

Overall, this is a FIVE STAR winner for me. I found it thoroughly addicting. Lex Martin and Leslie McAdam blew me away with their seamless writing and a refreshing plot-line that stole my breath and my whole heart too. I really hope we see more from this dynamic duo. I want a book for Kendall, Evie's BFF, and even Drew who is the biggest hotmess ever. Josh and Evie's world was delightful and I am A HUGEEEEEEEEE fan of this story. An absolute MUST READ.

4.5 Laugh my ass off stars!!

“One touch of her lips against mine, and we ignite. Like a blowtorch sparking against metal. Immediately, we’re wrapped around each other.”

“Baby,” “We could be so good together.”

“My tongue slides into her mouth, finding hers and just like that, we combust. Frantic. Hungry. Crazed. Like we’re trying to climb inside the other person, that’s how close we want to be. We’re nothing but hands, breaths, lips and dare I say it, love? Love. That’s how I’m feeling. I love her.”

Now, I don’t know about you guys, but I have literally been counting down the days, the hours, the minutes until I got my hands on something new from Lex Martin and let me tell you, I could not have been more excited about All About The D. All About The D is the exciting and sexy novel from authors Lex Martin and Leslie McAdam. This story is told from dual points of view and is refreshing as hell. From the moment I picked up this book, I knew it was going to be something great. And boy was it ever. The writing is smart and entertaining. I was hooked from page one. I didn’t know if I wanted to laugh or blush at times. Many times I found myself shaking my head because of something that was happening. Totally one of those ‘I can’t believe this is happening, I can’t watch moments’, but you know you have to watch or read on anyways.

All About The D is a totally unique, fun and refreshing story-line. The characters are interesting, easy to connect with, and you can’t help but want to know more about them from the moment you meet them. I fell in love with Josh and Evie instantly. Their story completely captivated me and I couldn’t help but devour it. It was hot, sexy as hell, laugh your ass off funny and full of heart. I loved the connection between Josh and Evie and wild horses couldn’t stop me from wishing for a HEA for these two. And let me tell you, Josh is not only sexy as hell, but he is one swoon worthy guy! Ugh! I just couldn’t get enough!

Overall, this story rocked my socks off. I loved every moment of this story from beginning to end. It had just the right balance of humor, sexy good times, angst, drama, and of course romance. I think this collaboration between Lex Martin and Leslie McAdams is going to be a great one, and I can not wait to see what this duo has in store for us next!

I've had this book in my TBR list for I don’t know how long, and was blessed to receive an ARC. I was obsessed with the book even with a tease synopsis from the beginning. We knew nothing about the book in details and I already wanted it ASAP. I mean come on who wouldn’t be wanting more with this synopsis…

“That sexy, deep voice on the phone makes chills erupt down my arms, but he won’t tell me his last name. Too risky, he insists. He’ll show me why. His email says it all with four little letters–NSFW. But I click anyway.”
I have read 1 series by Lex Martin and LOVED it – definitely 5 star worthy. Check out the Dearest Series. As for Leslie McAdam, I have not read or seen anything by this author. So I was excited to read a book by an author I already like and a new one I am sure to follow. And I was right. This book was absolutely great.

I absolutely LOVED this book, seriously! I was hooked from the first page and didn’t want to put it down until the end, and then I was definitely wanting more. What a fun book, it was the perfect blend of funny, sexy and on your toes read. I Definitely think it was a great lighthearted read and very down to earth. My heart broke a few times, but don’t worry it was put back together again.

It was a story of sacrifice, figuring out what matters in life and finding the perfect balance between work and play. Oh and a forbidden romance too! Which made it absolutely unputdownable!

Josh – just Josh – has to keep his personal life hidden. He comes from a very well known family and his blog – All About the D is something that would not be so great for legacy of his last name. So when he is in need of a lawyer for the blog, he finds Evelyn Mills.

Evie is a great attorney looking for a big case to help out the law firm and herself. Having the name Ms. Frumpy hasn’t really helped her lead the man she’s wanted for years, her co-worker Nathan. Except when Josh calls with no last name and tells her to check out his blog before she agrees, she was not expecting what she would find. Holy beautiful dick. Now Evie is stuck from being turned on by starring at his erect cock pictures, and wondering how she can get the law firm to agree to help him. This might be a hard case – in more ways than one.

But when one has a blog posting pictures of his delicious cock with millions of people looking and watching, it might causes issues. Because if he can keep this giant secret of his blog to the whole world including his family, what kind of secrets could Josh be keeping from Evie?

From the very start I liked the set up of the book and the characters. Everything was put together wonderfully and flowed even better. It was a roller coaster of emotions that I just couldn’t turn the page fast enough. You could just fell from the beginning how much the hero and heroine were drawn to each other with their forbidden attorney/client situation made the longing, tension and feelings between them that much more stronger. I adored the story line and the need for these two to be together.

I also am seriously hoping for a book for the two best friends – Kendall and Drew. They hate each other, and hate seems to form steamy romance and sex scenes. Also Drew is a slob who is in dyer need of growing up, and I think Kendall is just the person for him. So fingers crossed that we get a book about them!

All About The D is a sweet and sexy romance that left me swooning. There's plenty of humor and blushing mixed in with a few heart-melting moments.

Joshua Cartwright is in need of contractual legal advice however he's facing a dilemma. The advice he needs is for his NSFW blog that features his exceptional asset, aka his junk. Because Joshua is from a respectable Seattle family with an older brother who is running for Senate, he needs to keep identity anonymous.

Evelyn Mills, Esquire, is focused on making partner but is still in need of bringing in a huge client. Joshua Cartwright maybe the solution to her problem if she can sell him to her traditional firm. The only issue that may stand in her way is their mutual attraction. Can they keep their relationship purely platonic or are they willing to risk losing it all.

I love Evelyn! She's conservative in many ways but slowly begins to open up and find herself with the help of her friend and Josh. Josh on the other hand (or with his hand) has found his niche as a dick blogger. It all had started with a bet he took from his very interesting best friend, a friend who indeed needs his own book, that led to finding the woman who brings back his smile. I really enjoyed this light-heart romance with plenty of NSFW style. 5 Stars!

Amazing writing duo...

I absolutely LOVED this book. This was my first to read of Leslie, but I am a huge fan of Lex. Their writing styles blended flawlessly. Honestly, I never imagined a story revolving around a blog for male genitalia could be so swoon-worthy. It was the perfect combination of sweet, steamy, and funny. The book is written in Evie and Josh's POV. I really thought Evie was going to be bashful and reserved, but she just needed help getting out of her shell. Josh comes from a prestigious family but is very laid back. The authors grabbed my attention and held it through the end.

This book can be read as a complete standalone.
