To be honest I wasn't quite sure what to think before I started reading this set of fairytale retellings. It looked cute, fun and clean, and after I signed up to review it I started looking at a couple reviews. Not that any reviews were bad per say but mixed feelings about the set. Some loved it, some thought it was ok. I kept putting off reading this set and reading other books but finally decided it was time...

What did I think????? Fun! Cute! And definitely a series to read if you are just loo
Lisa (Bookworm Lisa)

This is a cute collection that has three modern day retellings of some of my favorite Fairy Tales: Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and the Frog Prince.

The women are strong characters who take control of their lives. They just happen to meet and fall in love with the man of their dreams in a small town. The town is unique, when the men fall in love, they fall in love fast. There is not playing games with them. They find the woman of their dreams and they move on it, she falls in love quickly a

I read the first story and half of the second, but just could not get into these. Too much dram and lots of rough transitions. I felt like there was a lot more editing and development needed. Fun premises though and I would definitely give this author a chance in the future.

A real life fairy tale is a collection of three short stories all inspired by a very tale. My biggest problem with this collections was that all the stories were too short in my opinon to properly develop the love. The writer puts this of as something that is in the water, but marrying after knowing someone less than 2 weeks is in my opinion not really realistic. So the instalove was quite disturbing and it all felt a bit too sweet for my taste, but overall it was a fun and light hearted read! I ...more

Five stars for Cinderella
3.5 for both Beauty and the Beast and The Frogg Princess
Four stars overall
You can check out the individual books for my complete review for each story.

Between the three stories, I love the author's version of Cinderella. What I like most about the stories is the introduction of new characters that will be in the next installment. A very teasing preview of what's to happen next and a glimpse of the next fairy tale character that is going to be given a new breath of life i

Such a fun series! I look forward to additional novellas coming out. I've always been a fan of fairytales and these have a modern-day setting. While they aren't exact retellings, they have all the essential elements that we know and love.

Cinderella: I really love both Cindee and Henry. Priscilla is the perfect nemesis as well. Casting Cindee as a mechanic was a brilliant twist. While I never minded the "damsel in distress" element in most every fairytale, it's nice to have a strong female lead.

The first book 'Cinderella' I thought was good. Liked Cinderella the mechanic en her "prince charming" (not a prince but the local hottie in his cowboy boots and hat with the biggest farm from welthy parents).
This story is just a little clean romantic read, their relationship is none-existing and suddenly starts to sky-rocket. Much like the fairytale. It was a fine read.

The second book starts some time after Cinderella and goes on with Cinderella's best friend Belle as main character, yes, you s
Janice Brooke Thompson is the author of a REAL life fairy tale boxed set and part of the Silver Creek Novella series, including: Cinderella, Beaity and the Beast, and The Frogg Princess. Although the idea of this collection is fun and exciting, readers may find that the stories are a little hard to get into, as they are fast paced, relationships happen fast, and there seems to always be lots of drama between characters. Even with this snag in the novella collection, readers will find these novel ...more

I was given a free copy of this box set for my honest opinion.

A real life fairytale box set with Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and The Frogg Princess. These are a modern take on some old classics that take place in a small town where love traditionally happens fast! There are villains, heroes, and even a fairy godmother personality. All of the characters have quirks that draw you in and make you feel at home. Several of the towns folks make me hope they have their own story to share. I only

This is an enjoyable rendition(s) of classic fairytale stories. So if you like fairytales this series is for you! Light, clean & fast moving with happy ever after finishes. Spunky damsels & handsome hero's. Just the thing for if you feel like a bit of sweet, easy, feel-good reading with characters who continue appearing like old friends as you work your way through the series.

I received an ebook copy free in exchange for an honest review.

Cinderella is a cute story about Cindee Ellis. She is not your typical girl. Covered in oil stains and brake fluid, she finds she relates to cars better than people. Especially when that person is Henry Christensen. Will Henry ever see her for more than the local grease monkey girl?
Cinderella is a favorite fairytale of mine. In this novella I really related to Cindee. I am not a girly girl who prefers to dress down. I find her matter-of-fact attitude entertaining. Henry is certainly a prince cha

This is a series of novella length stories that are loosely based on the various fairy tales. They are each sweet and clean with no offensive language or sexual material. They do contain kissing.

In Cinderella, Cindee Ellis is stuck living with her evil step-Aunt, Marge, who want her daughter to marry Henry
Christensen. The only problem is that Henry only has eyes for Cindee.

In Beauty and the Beast, Belle is able to see through the rough outward appearance of Adam. As she gets to know him, she

I absolutely enjoyed the 3 books in this Novella Series. Retellings are always fun to read but these novellas give retelling a new meaning. These stories are certainly told with a twist and gives fairy tales a new life. I started with Cinderalla. Each of these novellas could be read individually but I enjoyed the story from beginning to end. Each one of the main characters, Cindee, Belle & Taya are unique, powerful, tenacious and fierce women. There are certainly similarities to the original ...more

This box set consists of three quick and modern fairy tale retellings. Each story builds on the previous one (although they also stand alone well), giving glimpses into the lives of past characters. First we meet Cindee (our modern Cinderella) who works as a mechanic at her uncle's auto shop. She has plans and dreams an they don't require a handsome guy to sweep in and save the day. But a partner to help her live out her dream? That would be really nice. :-)

Second, we meet Belle (Cindee's best f

Cinderella – People can be really judgmental sometimes. When your parents are addicts and you are raised by an uncle whose wife treats you like dirt, it’s hard to see yourself as someone. As someone who deserves better than a shed to live in. How do you open your heart when you’ve never had someone to love or someone to love you? Sometimes taking that leap of faith is worth the world!

The Frogg Princess – Is there such thing as love at first sight? Seeing someone and just knowing that you are in

I didn’t really like ‘A REAL life fairytale’ box set. I had a hard time getting through it. The idea behind the stories was cleaver, but the execution was very lacking for me. I don’t know if it was because they were all short and would have been better had the author fleshed out the stories more, or the writing style; I just could barely get through them. The first story the chemistry just wasn’t there and didn’t make sense. Henry didn’t know who she was and then suddenly he had been in love wi ...more

This boxed set is pretty darn good. It has three stories. I liked the first one, Cinderella, best. Beauty and the Beast was good too, as was Frogg Princess.

All of them are modern day versions of the old fairy tales. Cinderella has a girl being mistreated by a wicked stepmother and stepsister, who of course ends up with the "prince". I really liked the characters. He was a cook and she was a mechanic. Great turnaround of the traditional roles.

In the second one the girl falls for a "beast". Someon

I love fairy tale retelling so when I see them it always catch my attention. This modern version of Cinderella was fun. Cindi was sassy and hardworking. The story is short and quick read. The romance is a bit quick but great if you enjoy fairy tales and don't want to stay up all night reading.
Another fun modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I was more drawn to the beast in this story than Belle. The story moves quickly and reads like a novella. If you enjoy different versions of Beauty and

I love reading fairy tale spin-offs, and I really enjoyed reading these ones.

Cinderella: I was quickly drawn in to this story, and it was hard to put it down. I enjoyed getting to know the characters, and it was a really cute story.
Content: clean - 1 swear word

Beauty and the Beast: This story had a darker edge to it, but I still really enjoyed reading it.
Content: clean - innuendo

Frogg Princess: I liked how the title plays off the main male character's name. This was another cute, quick story.

This is the first series of books that I've read by Jamie Brook Thompson. They were very cute modern day renditions of the classic fairy tales Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and the Frog Princess. The characters were wonderful, the storylines were well-planned and creative, and the way the three stories fit together made the books so fun.
Unfortunately there were quite a few mistakes in grammar, spelling, and correct usage of words. Some sentences didn't quite make sense because the words were

I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I loved these books. It was a great modern take on some old fairy tales. They were a lot of fun to read and it went really fast. The first book was Cinderella and was about Cindee Ellis who lives with her mean aunt. She finds love with her high school crush. Book 2 is Beauty and the Beast and is about Belle who is the hairdresser in Book 1. She has moved there from California and meets Adam who is big and scary. Her friends tell he ...more

Fun, lighthearted stories with a moral message make up this collection. I enjoyed all three stories. But these are not for children. These are fairy tales with a modern, adult twist. The heroines are feisty, independent women who overcame past troubles and look to the future yet aren’t afraid to love. The flawed heroes are kind, strong men brave enough to show the women they love a softer, gentler side. These stories contain strong family values, integrity, and flawed people ready to change for ...more

A cute & easy series of novellas. I love re-tellings of fairy tales, so I was excited to read this set. The first book, Cinderella, is the most flushed out story. Cindee and Henry have actually known each other for years, but neither one believed the other would be interested in them. Her evil step-aunt is determined that Henry will marry her daughter, not Cindee.
The second story, Beauty and the Beast, was pretty much an instant love story. Not much interaction, just love at first sight. It

This is a series of modern-day retellings of fairy tales that take place in the small town of Silver Creek. I read these stories in order: Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and then The Frogg Princess. I wasn't crazy about the writing style of these stories (the insta-love was a little over the top for me), but I did like each one more than the previous one. They are short quick reads which was both good and bad for me - I like being able to fit a short fun story into my busy schedule, but I fel ...more

I love fairy tale retellings so when I saw this book I just had to read it. I have to admit though that at first I was a bit sceptical, but I ended up liking this book more than I thought I would.

The only "bad" thing about the stories is that there were some moments where it felt forced, where it felt like the author was trying too hard to match her story with the fairy tale in question. Other than that, it was a fun read.

The boxed set includes short stories for the classic tales of Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and the Frog Princess, set in the small town of Silver Creek. I liked this collection very much. As the author states at the end of the texts, it's not about a fancy narrative, it's about light-hopeful-heart-warming stories that take us away from our stress-sometimes-dull life's and give us some inspiration or faith to get our life's rolling. The idea of presenting our very well known fairytales in the flesh of characters of our own time with life struggles similar to our days, makes it even more appealing.

Would recommend reading them, specially #1 and #3.

This set of 3 novellas was cute. Each is based on a different fairy tale. I tend to like fairy tale retellings, especially when the "damsels" are not cliche and do something to help themselves instead of waiting to be rescued; which all 3 of these do beautifully. I did not love the insta-love, it was much too quick and undeveloped for me. I also had a hard time grasping the character's personalities very quickly. I felt like I got it by the end for all 3 but had kind of a hard time in the middle ...more

A Real Life Fairytale is a cute modern adaptation of three fairy tales—Cinderella, Beauty & the Beast, The Frog Princess. Personally, the only one that felt like its sister fairy tale was Cinderella. Beauty had some adaptations, but beside the name of Frogg and cooking, the Frog Princess was a stretch. That said I did enjoy the stories. They were a tad bit on the corny side, but for novellas they were fun to read and as the men in the town don’t waste time proposing, the stories were finishe ...more

A Real Life Fairy Tale Boxed set is a cute retelling of classic fairy tales, without the magic, but still plenty of heart. Cinderella: Henry and Cindee have a sweet simple story. Cindee is a mechanic and Henry loves to bake. Their story has a realistic happily ever after. In The Frogg Princess, I really liked Felix. He was swoony. Things happened almost unrealistically fast. My favorite story of the set was Beauty and the Beast. Adam was incredibly likeable and he swooped in to save the day. All ...more
