Oh how I enjoyed my time spent while reading this novel. I started it right as I was leaving on a trip which entailed lots of driving. I laughed out loud, had some pretty big smiles, a few grumpy face moments and possibly a couple sighs. My hubby kept asking me for updates and what was happening in the plot to cause my many different moods. He'd smile and shake his head at me, I'd smile back and dive right back into this fun read.

A fun twist on the Bachelor/Bachelorette premise with all the twis

I've done something I never ever do. In fact, I cannot remember doing it before. I'm giving up on a book. I strongly disliked it right from the beginning, and now at 40%, I'm throwing in the towel. I'm not happy about it, but the fact that I have so little reading time combined with the degree of unhappiness I have with this book has made the decision for me. I expected it to improve, and don't feel that it has. It probably will, given that several of my Goodreads friends have given this a good ...more

Normally, I enjoy reading a romance that is a homage to shows like The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, but I have to say I didn't really enjoy this one.

I absolutely hated the deception! With Hanna being a "Christian" woman, her reputation sh
Lots of conflicting things in this little humorous romance. I think I’m just going to skip the star rating on this one. The opening was great, with her saving the guy’s life and then realizing it’s her least favorite man in the world.

Ultimately, though, it tried to be too many things at once. Romantic comedy, cautionary tale, lesson in forgiveness, etc, etc. There were so many little plot features that never got used, ones that got dropped in and left lying on the floor, until the plot grew cum

Do you enjoy watching The Bachelor and The Bachelorette? Well this is something like that sort of. It is a book for reality TV fans. They are sure to fall in love with this book.
It was a good romantic comedy, It's a feel good read. The first book that I have read by Phillips but not my last. The story line was very well thought out, and different.
I loved Hanna and rooted for her until the very end. You may like the outcome. Read it all the way to the end!

A fun contemporary romance between a couple who met on a reality TV dating show. Full of humor and some tender moments, as well as faith.

I enjoyed the funny and sometimes awkward situations the characters find themselves in as they try to iron out the difficulties that all began with a lie. The story demonstrates well how damaging a lie and gossip can be, how it can grow and hurt people until set right. Hanna has a lot to forgive, and eventually Will does too. Their relationship has a lot of u

The Engagement Plot had me laughing out loud throughout the entire book. It was exactly what I needed to read at the time. The old saying "laughter is good medicine" is so true. The banter between the hero and heroine was so fun and also being in their heads was too. I really enjoyed the book and I hope there are more to come in a series.
*I was given a copy of the book by the author and was under no obligation to leave a review.

While this story has some serious flaws, the charm factor and writing style overpower any of those issues. Sure, it's not perfect, but it's very entertaining.

If you read the blurb above for this book I probably know what you are thinking about this book. A light, fluffy, brain candy sort of book picking up on the "Bachelor" reality TV show. Right? Because that's kind of what the blurb would have you think. But. I'm here to tell you that this book is more than that. In fact, the story picks up months after the reality TV portion happened. Yes, Hanna does do some remembering of certain moments and there are certainly some very "in the public eye" situa ...more

"He didn't need God. He would keep his promise on his own. He 'was' William Preston. He fixed things. Give him a problem, he'd find a solution. No divine help needed."

Six months ago William Preston shattered Hanna Knight's heart on a reality show in front of millions of people. Her life has been a mess since then. Now William's in Hanna's home in Minnesota wanting forgiveness. Ha! But with her reputation in shambles, agreeing to William's plan seems the only sensible thing to do.

3.5 Stars. This was pretty cute and humorous at times. I thought it was going to focus more on the Bachelor-like reality show, but it's more about what happened after. I thought the big conflict was kind of unrealistic, though. Hanna was nicknamed Holy Hanna because of her Christian values, but then Will insinuated that they slept together (when they hadn't) and it completely ruined her life. While I do believe that the internet likes nothing more than someone's supposed fall from grace, I don't ...more

The idea behind this book is fun and spunky, after all who doesn't love a reality TV show that brings two people together in true love? While I stopped watching shows like The Bachelor many years ago, I have read a few books that follow these same kind of lines. That one girl amongst the fake, who's ended up in the house for some valid reason or another. While the actual initial meeting is shared, the story doesn't really go into the TV show events. Which I like. It can get a bit same old same o ...more
Can Hanna and Will Find True Love Amid the Bright Lights of Reality TV?
Perfect for the fans of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette!

Believe it or not I don't watch either show as I find it demeaning to watch... That being said I just started reading this ARC copy that I received from NetGalley to read and review and so far I am enjoying it. Had it classified as romance but is more christian fiction without being overly preachy. Will and Hanna meet on a reality television show and break up based on

There were parts of The Engagement Plot which were excellent. I loved the writing, which was witty and original. I loved the dialogue, which was the perfect blend of clever and snarky, and allowed the personalities of the characters to shine. The plot sounded kitschy at first, but it soon convinced me: a couple who met and fell in love on a cheesy reality TV show, then broke up following gutter innuendo in a TV interview (as an aside, why do we call it reality TV? It's nothing like reality).

Such a fun story!

Krista Phillips took the "Bachelor" Theme and cleaned it up in spin-cycle with some wonderful lessons on faith, God's grace, and the power (and hard-call) of forgiveness. Will Preston is a broken hero - the kind who really needs someone to give him a big hug and teach him what love and forgiveness is really like. Hanna is pretty sure she's not that person. At ALL. She's been burned by Will before and has no intention of feeling the sting of his "false" affections again - afte

I don't think there isn't one person who doesn't know about online dating reality shows like the Bachelor or the Bachelorette. Where an eligible person tries to find the perfect person among a host of suitable candidates and hopefully a happily ever after will ensue. Fans of such shows will love Krista Phillips new novel, The Engagement Plot. Here we have a similar premise as the setting for our novel, with the reality show named The Price for Love and instead of the infamous red roses, the cont ...more

Oh my word, this book!! The author brilliantly took a situation that one would think is easily dealt with and move on from, but she added layers to the story that are completely surprising and work so well. The author puts her whole heart into the writing, voicing every thought and complexity a well meaning Christian would feel (not all pretty but definitely authentic), but also knows when to hold back in keeping the romance and language clean. It's such a fine balance that is perfectly achieved ...more

I never watch reality TV, but for some reason I love books written about reality TV... Go figure! Will and Hanna met on the reality show - The Price of Love. When Will picked Hanna and proposed, she didn't realize that all her troubles were just beginning. In a stupid moment in an interview Will manages to devastate and humiliate Hanna. As the CEO of a skincare company, going on The Price of Love was the board's idea to help promote sales. Now that he has humiliated Hanna and sales are down, the ...more

The Engagement Plot by Krista Phillips is the first book of hers that I have read and it won't be my last. I didn't expect the book to be one laugh after another but that is exactly what it was.

I am a huge Bachelor/Bachelorette fan, my only problem with the show is all of the sexual innuendos, lack of clothing, etc. Ms. Phillips takes the premise of the show runs it through the wash with SHOUT and writes a story that is both fun, and has a inspirational theme of faith, forgiveness, and grace.

and Will may have started a bit u likeable, but she was a woman scorned and he wasn't a Christian so you had to give them a little slack. And as the story progresses you love them more and more as they fall in love with each other. It was a tad bit risqué in some parts, but was an overall sweet romance and clean read.

On a scale of cotton candy to Brussels sprouts, The Engagement Plot by Krista Phillips is a dark chocolate rose. The glitzy aluminum hides the deep flavors of the creamy confection with a touch of bitterness laced through the sweetness. It's both sweet and carries substance.

One sentence from the most eligible bachelor, William Preston, with a touch of innuendo dragged Holy Hanna's carefully groomed witness for Christ right through the mud. Now, she's done wit

I’m going to start out by admitting upfront: I HATE the current proliferation of bachelor/bachelorette/married-at-first-sight type shows. As in, I growl at the TV when I see ads for them. Maybe that means I should have passed up on this one when I was offered it for review, but I had heard quite a few friends say they enjoyed reading it (even ones who don’t like The Bachelor/Bachelorette), so I decided to give it a chance. There were definitely some things I could appreciate about the story, and ...more

The story was sweet, laugh out loud funny, and surprising. But it also had just the right amount of depth and passion. The main characters were complex and each had unique but important journeys to travel, and the supporting characters, a best friend, an assistant, and both sets of parents (my favorite) were different and unexpected. But most importantly the love connection progressed naturally and felt very real, not rushed like in many romance novels and Hallmark movies. Which is actually pret ...more

The Engagement Plot by Krista Phillips was a sweet rom-com with Christian themes that didn’t shy away from the difficult issues of either romance or Christianity. We follow ‘holy’ Hanna, the winner of a romance-based reality television series several months after the show tore apart her life and destroyed her reputation. Filled with all the fury of a woman scorned, she’s none too happy when the man whose heart she supposedly stole- and the man who trampled hers- shows up in her small town of Emb ...more

The Engagement Plot
Krista Phillips

Hanna has a broken heart, a very public broken heart. She was content with her life as a school teacher, living on the family’s small farm and helping her father after the death of her mother several years earlier. When her best friend encourages her to enter the popular The Price of Love, a reality show, she throws caution to the wind, entering the show.

Enter William, the tall handsome bachelor and CEO, destroyed her life with one ill fated comment during an a

You know how they say not to judge a book by its cover? Well, The Engagement Plot is case in point. I am absolutely, 100%, unquestionably not a fan of this cover. I think that's why it took me so long to start reading; the description all but guaranteed I'd love it, but I just couldn't get over the cover.

Well, the description was right: love it I did!

Is it completely preposterous? Yes. But then, The Bachelor isn't the most realistic thing on the planet, either. So I say suspend your disbelief an
