Wow, just Wow! What a wonderful book by Mandy M Roth. Its the exciting second in the Crimson Ops series.
Cormag Buchanan was the high warrior and clan chieftain more than 300 years ago when Culloden happened. At the end of the battle he walked the bloody battlefield offering life eternal or a natural death to those who were dying. Many took his offer of life eternal, including our hero Searc. Cormag sired Searc and chose him to be his second in command. For many years they killed and pillaged, reining death and destruction,
Then one day about 23 years ago, a woman arrived with a baby in a basket and told Cormag that the baby was his daughter. Cormag almost killed the infant, but Searc saved her. And, he saw the light in his soul. he turned away from evil and joined forces with those seeking good, the Crimson Sentinel Ops. He left Cormag. Cormag too had enough of killing for no purpose and joined the vampire police force, otherwise known as the Paranormal Regulators. He's not quite ready to join the Fang Gang as the Crimson Sentinel Ops are known, but tries to instead act as a mediator in disputes between rial vampire gangs.
While he is in Scotland working with two rival vampire gangs he gets an urgent call from Searc that his daughter is in danger. For Cormag, his daughter means everything to him. Cormag checks with his current second in command, Islay, who reports that all is well. Searc has always been drawn to Cormag's daughter, Jessie, but since she turned 18 the pull towards her has been much stronger. He keeps his distance from her whenever possible.
And so, the real story begins. A story filled with longing, love, humor, betrayal, murder, violence capture by the Corporation of both Jessie and Searc, evil beings, and finally our HEA.
Jessie thought that she was almost entirely human as she could go out in the daytime with only a risk of getting a sunburn in direct sunlight. She needed help opening jars, was not able to move fast like other vampires. She has a girlfriend, Meena whose father is similar Cormag. Jessie loves having a friend that she can be open and honest with. Meena knows that Jessie really likes Searc and Jessie knows that Meena really like Baltair. They both know that their fathers would kill the men if they knew of the girls attraction. Perhaps they can start dating in about 300 hundred years!
I highly recommend this story to all of you, regardless of what types of books you normally read. It is a WINNER. I would give it 16 STARS, but I will have to settle for 5.
I received this book as an ARC with no expectations. The opinions are most definitely my own. ENJOY!
