Forgive the irony which is the English review of this Hindi epic. The completion of this book was a challenge in itself. But I believe that no book should be read just for completing it, but for expanding your thought horizons. There were sections through which I dozed off, sections which I could interpret little, sections which seemed monotonous; but still, when I finished reading it, I felt that I wanted more: I want to know what were the aftermaths of Gandhi's efforts in Africa and how Gandhi ...more

The way the novel showcases the emotional turbulence he went through on various issues and all the more in the light of the recent clamor on the issue of so called 'intolerance' in the country's environment it makes a good read. This novel shows how an ordinary barrister M K Gandhi turned into a very sensitive social and politic activist.

The author has mastered the story telling art and so easily manages to get the reader go through the voluminous book of 904 pages.

This book changed my thinking process. Before reading this book I considered Gandhiji as shrewd politician ( I was a kid then and believed what my teachers told me), but this book changed my view. My interest vastly increased in Gnadhiji and today I am a big fan of Gandhian philosophy. I read the book in Hindi. Its well written and gives a detailed account of the sufferings of Indians in South Africa and the marvelous work done by Gandhiji for his fellow countrymen.
