This is a beautiful color book with some fabulous projects.
The projects come with full sized pictures of the finished item and the instructions are simple to follow with a step by step, row by row guide. The way they are photographed is just divine.
Some of them are quick and others will take a bit longer, but everyone is beautifully designed and there is something for everyone.
I loved this book simply because it contains everything for a beginner and can be used as reminder for the more advanced.
At the back is a technique guide with easy to follow demonstrations with pictures, how to hold your hook and wool and how to complete the stitches. There is even a glossary of abbreviations which is very helpful.
My favorite project is the Granny Square Coatigan which I think would be gorgeous in monochrome and fabulous for the Autumn days t keep me warm. I will definitely be making it soon. There are cushions, rugs, hats and toys, so everyone is catered for.
The cover picture for this book caught my eye while I was browsing for patterns to stash bust/single skein patterns, as it's a very simple pattern that can be worked up in any colourway and modified in countless ways.
I decided to get the book as part of my Scribd subscription, to browse the patterns while I got on with my cushion.
While a lot of the patterns are very pretty and some I would consider making, so many of them are freely available on the internet, with much more in-depth guidance for a beginner. I was a little disappointed that there weren't more original patterns from the writers, rather than so many "generic" crochet patterns.
I want to try these projects in the future: 1. Crochet skirt 2. Ombre tassel scarf 3. Super rug
Issues: 1. Not all of them have symbol patterns. 2. No difficulty level provided. So, I should use my internal gauge to evaluate the difficulty by just reading the details. As a beginner, it is difficult.
Aka: Simple Natural Crochet in a later printing. There are some stunning patterns in this book, that I plan to make in the future as I continue practicing my crochet. Particularly, for my newer skills, I like the "camping throw" on page 70, the "super rug" on page 68.
