With this guide to mindful practice, teachers new and experienced can learn how to use mindfulness in their own professional and personal lives as well as how to incorporate it in their teaching to support student wellbeing.
I picked up this book hoping to get a better sense of practical tools to implement around mindfulness in my classroom. (Teaching AP, those students really need to learn socio-emotional coping and to slow down, take a breath, and interrupt negative self-talk.) This book had some of that, but it also (rightly so) spends a significant amount of time on the neuropsychology behind mindfulness and the importance of teachers practicing mindfulness to avoid burnout. So overall useful, but I wish it had more concrete activities or ways to incorporate mindfulness into a wider framework of SEL.
Great book. Mindfulness is the next "buzz" word in education, and this is a great book to start with if you've never been introduced to the ideas behind Mindfulness.
