In vino mysterium is the theme for this anthology of short stories, each blending a baffling mystery and a glass (or more) of cabernet. When eighteen mystery writers combine their talents, the result is the perfect "flight" of stories that range from light-bodied puzzles to sparkling cozies to darker, heavier tales of deceit and murder. While cabernet is the featured wine, ...more

50 SHADES OF CABERNET offers as many varietals as a well-curated wine shop. The stories feature everything from a well-intentioned sorority sister trying to close the door on the past, to a sharp old southern belle who prefers her wine from a box, and a wronged widow who isn't a sweet as she seems. This book will pair best with your favorite wine, a cozy blanket, and a nice long weekend getaway.

Just What The Doctor Ordered!

50 Shades Of Cabernet!

Did you ever hear the expression, “there is a very thin line between loving and strongly disliking!”

Well that’s how I have always felt about short stories. You know when you read a book and it takes maybe two or three days, and you are devouring every word and just loving it? And then it ends! You think, “that was wonderful, I want more”! Short stories end so quickly that I am always wanting more. But, 50 Shades gives us, the reader, all we want

I debated where it was appropriate to write a review for this collection or not. After all, I'm lucky enough to have a story in the book. But, the other writers deserve a review.

Whether it's multiple award-winning Barb Goffman's "Whose Wine Is It Anyway?" to Ken Wingate's "Friday's Jewelry," the collection has something for every reader.

Some stories tend to the dark side, like Heather Weidner's "Par For the Course," or are a straight-up whodunit, like "Name Your Poison" by Maria Hudgins, or are

50 Shades of Cabernet is a clever anthology consisting of 17 Cabernet Sauvignon-inspired short stories produced by "a group of [Virginia] friends with a common interest in mysteries and wine." Some of the stories are first-class including those by Kristin Kisska, Debbiann Holmes, and Alan Orloff. Others are fine for a quick read with a glass of wine in hand.

There’s something for everyone in this book. I found this book hard to put Dow with the different writing styles and the various mysteries.

What's not to love about a flirty little collection of 17 wine-themed short story mysteries? Stories range from a jewelry theft set in Savannah, Georgia ("Wine and Prejudice") to murder on a Richmond, Virginia golf course ("Par for the Course"). Grab a glass of your favorite Cabernet and settle in for a creepy good time with these and the other short stories. Cheers!

A good short story anthology. All mysteries, all wine themed. Even the weakest were OK and many were very good.
