Chronicles a young girl's long battle--and victory--against leukemia and her determined efforts to lead as normal a life as possible despite the rounds of painful chemotherapy and radiation treatment
I read this in the early 1980s. I LOVED this book. I was recently trying to find it, I couldn't remember the name of the book and it was driving me insane. I was googling "leukemia girl novel philadelphia chromosome" and of course, I was finding research studies and so on and novel treatments or novel genetics or whatever. Today, I googled "novel fiction girl leukemia philadelphia chromosome sloan-kettering" and it was the 4th or 5th hit. OMG. Now I need to get a copy so I can reread it!
True story of a 16 year-old leukemia patient given only six months to live. Several years later she was still alive and happily married and beating the odds.
