Three hot bank robbers all to herself: check A fabulous Italian holiday: check Enemies long gone: check Amazing food, clothes, and sex: check, check, and f&*king check!
The gang is in full vacation mode, and Isis has never been happier…until tragedy strikes the farm she had to leave behind. People are dying. The farm is in trouble. Her sister might be sent to prison for something she didn’t do.
Isis is desperate to help, but how can she? It’s too dangerous for her sisters to find out she’s still alive, too dangerous for the gang to return to the scene of that crime. At least that’s what Thor and Zeus think. But Odin’s nightmares are back. And he has other ideas…and those ideas might be more dangerous than anything.
Annika Martin is a NYT bestselling author who loves reading, taking pictures of her cats, consuming boatloads of chocolate suckers, and helping animals. She lives in the Twin Cities with her awesome husband and adorable cats.
This series is really a guilty pleasure, but unlike most guilty pleasures of mine, it actually has an awesome storyline.
I won't lie to you, sometimes, the plot of this series gets blurred in my head, since the books are so spaced apart, but this one stood out. I noticed a pattern: we started with Isis, and then focused on Thor in the second book, and then it was Zeus, and I was so excited to know this one would focus on Odin!
Because ODIN!
Out of all my hunky bank robbers, Odin has always been my favorite. He was the darker one in the group, or as Isis put it- the other alpha.
This book gets a lot more emotional, and felt like a detective story with a lot of sex at times. And I love it.
Isis's sisters get into some serious trouble, and the gang run to protect them. From there on it's like a wild goose chase for evidence, and fighting Odin's demons that come climbing out after their marriage.
Odin's been that one character that remained unpredictable throughout- the rule breaker, the dark one, and the beautifully sexy one. In this book though, Martin really focuses on his character, and builds it up like she hasn't in the previous books. And it made me fall in love with him even more.
At this point, I just need for Martin to keep releasing this series in a weekly basis, because I honestly can't get enough of them.
The god pack is back for another installment in the Kinky Bank Robbers series. If you aren’t familiar with this series then it’s best to start at book one when three hot criminal masterminds take a not helpless at all teller voluntarily hostage and the rest is lust, love, and romance history. Now two years later, the foursome is married, but they aren’t any less badass.
“‘We sweep in and out. Like fucking-g ghosts with the hammer of justice in our fucking-g fists.’”—Odin
They’re still loaded with confidence:
“‘I can do two things at once….You yourself have witnessed that many times.’” —Zeus
They haven’t lost their humor:
“‘Isis. Since when have I put something in you that didn’t feel excellent?’” —Thor
And they are swoonworthy as ever!
“He knelt in front of me and planted a kiss on my bare mound. ‘Correction: I love you like this.’” —Isis
Awww! <3
This time around Ice’s sisters are in trouble, and it’s up to the god pack to rescue them, whether they know it or not. The foursome puts their detective skills to use once again on this incognito mission complete with the series’ signature fresh, light-hearted banter and Isis’s witty first person narration.
My blog followers know I loathe fan girl reviews but I have to indulge just for a moment to say that Annika Martin is a creative genius when it comes to these fully developed characters and specifically their comedic dirty antics. OMG, the cock-blocking cherubs—one of the many delightful chuckle-snort moments of this edition. The deliciousness is in all the quirky details of so many well crafted scenes.
Now back to being a serious reviewer… I’ll admit I craved just a little more kinky interludes although the mystery angle always kept me engaged. This installment is Odin centric and some of the previous have been Zeus centric so I’m hopeful the next one gives Thor the limelight. I felt like he got a little…neglected this time if you catch my drift. None the less, I'm impressed with the way the series continues to build up each of the characters.
Speaking of future installments, the Claus banter at the beginning…please, please Annika—treat us this holiday season to a Kinky Bank Robbers Christmas. Come on, the role playing possibilities would be endless.
“They were coordinating, of course. This is what you got from seasoned criminals fucking and disciplining you—wicked coordination.”
Let’s hope ;-)
Anyways, this continues to be a must read series for fans of erotic romcoms. You just can’t top a strong heroine and three hot heroes alongside a mystery plot that dishes out adventure rather than angst.

4/23/17 - I read this entire series in 3 days, just could not stop reading about Isis and her god pack. The characters have such intriguing personalities and I love how they all are with each other. Such a fantastic series, I hope this wasn't the last and that there are many, many more to come.
This is a very nice story. But these are not very nice people. They are rough and tumble and horny all the time. Too much angst, a fairly solid mystery, and too little kinky sex makes this just your average romance novel.
I have been in love with all things kinky bank robbers for like EVER! When I found out Annika Martin was adding to their journey I was ecstatic!
If you've never experienced this kinky bunch, you are in for a treat. Their shenanigans alone will entertain you for a long time after you've read them. They will stick with you. Because they are so unique and just ridiculous :) I think this book can be read as a stand-alone, but you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't at least read book 1 of the series, The Hostage Bargain, so you can at least know how it all began :)
If it is one thing these crazy kids have is honor and trust. It is implicit among them. I've never read quite the same dynamic in any other book. From page one, book one, they have been an unbreakable unit. In order to be that kind of unit, the world had to be cut off. Mainly for Isis. She doesn't exist to the world she lived in before she met her kinky men. That includes her family. But tragedy has struck at home so things need to change .... So this kinky foursome go forth with their secret detective work mission to save the day. You will be thoroughly entertained by it all. There is no doubt about that. But please please please please ... if this kind of over the top story-line with ridiculously sexy foursome kink is NOT your thing, then just don't read this book. And if it is, I hope you enjoy it for what it is ... exceptional entertainment!
Another excellent point for this series is how Annika shifts the focus in each book to one of the characters while still maintaining the integrity and growth of the foursome. This time around we got to focus on Odin *squueee* !!!! What makes him tick. His past demons. He's always been a bit of a wild card with his erratic character and now we get a firmer picture of him and **happy sigh**
One last point I'd like to make on this incredible journey. The relationship between Isis, Zeus, Thor & Odin was signed sealed and delivered by the end of book 3, The Deeper Game. What has come since, are extensions of their relationship. Moments in time, if you will. I really really like that. Very few authors give us a glimpse into the future of couples or foursomes (lol) we fell in love with. Annika has done it twice now with Most Wanted and The Hard Way and I know she will continue to do it in the future (or at least I hope so) because a world without kinky bank robbers just seems very very bleak!
"The Hard Way" is Book 5 of the KBR Taken Hostage Series. if you have not read Books 1-4? NOW...... Would be a good time to start!
Be prepared to take a ride to a place beyond imagination and thrown into situations impossible to escape. This Series brings to life myriads of emotions not only in its Characters, but within Yourself. You fall in love with The Series and the "God Pack" for more reasons than one.
After all they have been through, Book 5 "The Hard Way" finds the "God Pack" in Europe hiding out from their Former Top Secret Agency...ZOX! They spend their "R&R" doing things most people only dream of doing. Their Goddess Isis comes across a news article from her home town which brings their sensually, relaxing vacay to a halt.
Isis is torn. The article accuses 1 of her 3 sisters of commiting a crime she knows is not possible. After faking her death; deciding to go back and help could not only endanger her sisters, but it could also cost the "God Pack" their lives.
Zeus and Thor are reluctant, but as Odin's demons from his past starts to haunt him again...his fight for self-control causes him to throw caution to the wind and passionately demands to help. Risking everything they sacrificed and fought for; they go back to the town where their journey together started.
Determined to get to the bottom of things...they get back to find out this is not a simple "In and Out" job. At every turn there is a dead end and as they take a closer look; they realize their options are limited. They also come to a conclusion that this may be a serious set up or even bait set by ZOX.
As time becomes an issue Odin is convinced there is only one way to handle this..."The Hard Way". Zeus, Thor and Isis realize it is not mere passion with Odin, rather the visceral need for self-control that overwhelms him.
The "God Pack" fight all their fears and doubts like they always do. They are adamant about making things right for the Sisters and Odin as they come together using their fierce and unconditional love for each other... no matter the outcome.
Prominent, Best Selling Author Annika Martin showcases her innovative and instinctive writing, yet again, taking Contemporary Romance to a whole New Realm. She brings out a new, intriguing storyline that has you riveted to each word on each page making it absolutely impossible to put the book down and making you fall in love with the Sensually Sexy, Amazingly Gorgeous, Skillful, Ex-Special Ops turn Criminal, Kick Ass "God Pack" all over again.... AND DEFINITELY WANTING MORE!!!
It's always fun to read this, to see what the God pack is up to. I hated that Isis's family was under attack, was glad that she and the guys went home to help them. Watching all of them get to the bottom had me laughing, the best was how the B&B owner kept catching all of them in compromising situations. It was nice that after they got to the bottom of things, they were able to get rid of a persistent person who had created problems for a lot of people living in the town.
I was glad that Isis ended up face to face with one of her sisters. It was nice that they could talk, that the sister could understand the choices that Isis made and why she needed to stay away. I especially loved how at the end Vanessa conned all of them into helping her.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Can I just say...........I LOVE the God Pack!! What a great look into Isis' former life and the little of Odin's. He's still tall, dark and mysterious but it was nice to see that small crack in the hard outer shell. The love and devotion between the four of them is amazing. What a great book! I hope there is more to come from everyone's favorite kinky bank robbers.
I own them all.... I love this series, what's not to love about Kinky Bank Robbers??!!? Annika Martin is one of my favorite authors. The God Pack made up of Odin, Zeus, Thor, and Isis are sizzling, sexy, funny, damaged, and so passionate about each other. I kind of don't want this series to end...EVER!!
If you haven't read about these four, you should start at the beginning of the series. I do think you don't need to start there; I read the first three books quite a while back, but had no problem following along here. The first three are a serial, but now they are more check-ins and continuing stories of th same characters. The back story elements are explained, and this is a moving forward, not looking back, story
In case you didn't figure it out, I loved the book, hint, the 5 stars!! These characters are fun, ridiculously sexy, hot, a smidgen of craziness, smart, hot, sensitive, caring, sexy, loving, and creative. Not just one of the characters, all four of them encompass the traits, skills and abilities, and together, they know they are insanely imperfect in these items
After enjoying some time off, they have to deal with Isis' family matters. Trouble is, her family believe her to be dead. So sneaking around, and getting to show the men where she came from, is a little difficult for her. She also faces her memories, now that she has been out in the real world, and sees them for the reality that they were, and are. This is good in some ways, and a check in others.
In the end, this is tying up the loose ends that started the story. Our heroine truly is a goddess now, and her life from before is part of her, but not her future. Her past is tame compared to the others, but no less heart-string tugging. This isn't the end for the quartet, but another piece of their life together!
NOTE: Although each story in the Taken Hostage by Kinky Bank Robbers is standalone, the romance of the four main characters has developed over the course of the series, with deeply emotional roots and revelations along the way. Additionally, the events in prior books impact the events in this book. For these reasons, I do not suggest starting the series with The Hard Way. The first book in the series, The Hostage Bargain is currenly free! http://amzn.to/2moqOuC
The story opens with the God Pack honeymooning in Rome for the past month. Although they know they cannot stay for long in one place, and in fact had to give up so much of their normalcy in escaping ZOX, the gang indulges in daily routine and the temptations of Rome. However, when Isis learns that her sisters’ farm is in trouble and her eldest sister, Vanessa, is charged with manslaughter, the guys whisk Isis back to Wisconsin. Investigating the alleged crime incognito, the gang promises to save Isis’s family.
There is so much to love in this series, and The Hard Way is another wonderful addition. First, the title’s opening sex scene (there is certainly more than one!) is one of the dirtiest yet in the series. And even when the guys are worshipping their goddess, the author always finds ways to slip in her amazing, dark humor. I just died when Thor asks “Um, did you guys just have some sort of mystical butt-f**king experience?” The timing of Ms. Martin’s offbeat humor is always impeccable. I think I laughed out loud every time the group found themselves in the cupid-infested B&B. Loved. It.
Next, The Hard Way is emotionally satisfying. Although every book centers on the foursome and their deepening love and commitment, each title tends to focus a little bit more on one of the characters, and in this light, I would say The Hard Way is Odin’s story. But you can’t think of this series as one that has a beginning and end point for each character. While the story looks deeper into Odin’s time as a captive, he’s not suddenly “cured” of his horrors by the end of the story - not even close. However, we witness tremendous growth in the relationship between Isis and Odin as she gets him to open up. She comes to understand that no matter how much she wants to help him, Odin’s nightmares won’t ever end. But she shows him that his sacrifices weren’t all dark - his world is full of gray. The back and forth between the pair provides both heart wrenching and yet oddly comforting moments as they give of themselves out of love.
Additionally, I loved watching the gang piece together the clues and figure out what happened in the mystery surrounding the salmonella outbreak. Sure, two of the God Pack are former spies and have mad investigative skills, but even Isis notices how she too has learned a thing to two about uncovering clues. They work great together, balancing and supporting one another to discover the whole picture.
Finally, there are some teary-eyed moments as Isis revisits the sheep farm and all she left behind. Being back in her hometown not only causes Isis to relive past events, but forces her to deal with the decisions she made, and is still holding to, when she joined the God Pack. There were a few times I found myself sniffling (okay, even sobbing) as Isis takes her journey home.
In the end, I love the Taken Hostage by Kinky Bank Robbers series hard. I take great delight in how much the characters have grown over the course of each book. I love that they care about each other so much, and how they express it. Most of all, I love that the author will allow these guys to be dark, yet their mutual love protects them from going too far. Taken Hostage by Kinky Bank Robbers series is outlandish, yet brimming with emotional depth and intelligent plots The titles are sinful and hot, but rooted in genuine love and compassion.
The Hard Way adds much to this amazing series. Not only did I enjoy the mystery and watching the gang solve it, but I loved how we learned more about Odin and coming full circle back to Isis's town. It was satisfying to have the introspection of how there lives have changed over two years.
My Rating: A, Loved It Review copy provided by blog tour
I did receive a free ARC cope of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is book 5 in the series. No, I have not read the previous 4 books. This does seem as though you could read it as a standalone as the characters are explained throughout the book. I did feel a little lost when they were talking about other cities they have been in and some other activities they have done that I don't know about. But I didn't feel as though I had to read the other books in order to understand what was going on.
In this book, Isis learns through her sisters blog newsletter that the family business is in trouble and they have had to stop production until things are settled.
The guys in Isis's life convince her that they need to go home and try to save her sisters farm and help. However, they problem is everyone back home thinks Isis's is dead including her sisters. They don't know she is alive and well. So, when they go to Wisconsin to try to help the cheese farm they create a disguise for Isis and hope that no one will recognize her around town.
The sisters own and operate a cheese farm. However, we have a mystery on our hands as a man in town has recently died after eating the cheese. The FDA has shut down the farm and no business or money is coming in for the sisters and the farm.
Isis and her men are there to help solve the crime and see who is setting up the sisters. They must get to the bottom of this to help save the sisters.
The sexcapades rival anything from Sex in the. It's. Isis seems to have her hands full with her men.....husbands.
The first thing I have to say is that I absolutely LOVE this series! I've been following it since book one, The Hostage Bargain. It was in an anthology, Make Me:12 Tales of Dark Desire, and I fell in love immediately. So I've been following the tales of Zeus, Odin, Thor and Isis, now through 5 books.
In book 5, the gang is on their honeymoon in Rome. They are having a grand old time celebrating married life and having lots of kinkalicious sex. But Odin's nightmare's are getting worse again, as Isis finds out the hard way.
Their honeymoon is interrupted when Isis receives word that her sisters are being set-up to be sued and may lose the farm to the evil banker who is responsible for their parent's death. One of her sisters may end up in jail. So the gang ends up in disguise to ferret out a rat and save the family business and ultimately Isis's sister.
You'll positively love this book! I do recommend reading the other books in the series first as it will help you understand the characters and references. But do read them, because they are just awesome!!!
Ms. Martin has explored Thor in Book 2, Zeus in Books 4, now it's Isis's and Odin's turn. We return to Isis's home town because her sisters are in trouble. The poor sheep farmers are being framed. It's up to the hot bank robbing, sleuthing quartet to find the real culprits to prevent Isis's sister from going to jail. We learn more about Odin's tragic background; we find out what makes him so good at the psy-ops. We find out why Odin needs to break every rule he is given which is sort of alluded to in Book 4. Of course, we see the sheep farm where Isis grew up and see why she needed to leave. Once again, Ms. Martin deftly combines and interweaves stories containing lust, romance, psychology, family drama, personal trauma, and personal triumph. She shows through strength of the FOUR that they are able to conquer their personal demons and triumph. It is amazing like all her stories.
These bank robbers will live rent-free in my mind for a long time to come. Each book gives more insight to our bank robbers, and little by little, we get more understanding on how difficult life is for this travelling group.
Odin absolutely broke my heart in this book. This wee soul has lived a life, and it's safe to say he is struggling.
The group returned to Ice's hometown when her sister was accused of murder another case for the bank robbers to crack. This one was a fantastic case that looked impossible to crack, but Ice needed this so badly, and her guys moved heaven and earth to get answers.
I love reading about these 4. I can't believe there is only 1 book to go.
Can't recommend this book, series, and author enough.
Oh, and that scene from the honeymoon, well no words needed, iykyk.
The Kinky Bank Robber series is a sexy, fun, and humorous series that follow Zeus, Odin, Thor, and Isis (the God Pack). The series can be highly romantic, as shown in the book more than the others.
In THW, very early we witness Odin and Ice forming a soul-connecting bond. Though Zeus and Ice were wondering 'what if it was just the two of us' in the previous book, it wasn't something on this level.
Odin is really struggling with his past, and the God Pack is worried about him. Ice, especially. She's knows they have a special bond and tries different ways to help him let go of his demons. Odin' s struggle causes a lot of tension, but they're a family and always work things out.
Zeus gets to continue his detective work. The team's first unofficial case, since their run in with ZOX, is saving Ice' s sisters from false allegations and possible murder charges. It during the investigation, Ice looks at her past with fresh, as it is know taking over her present. A chance encounter with someone, who was close to her, helps her let go of the guilt she's been carrying since she left home.
With Odin and Ice' s past being relived, we experience a more serious and emotional side to The God Pack. The two have to relive some heartbreaking moments, and Zeus and Thor struggle with helping their family past the pain.
As always this was a good read, few errors, and full of laughs. Definitely Recommended.
Its been a few years since I read the last kinky bank robbers book and i'd almost forgotten how much I enjoy them!
An easy to read murder mystery, it was funny, sexy and emotional with Isis and her hot, ruthless, dangerous but brilliant God Pack - Zeus, Thor and Odin. There was a lot of focus on Odin and at times I just wanted to give him a huge f'king-g hug (amongst other things ;-) ) but I loved how he and Isis connected more as they battled his demons. Loved it, really hope there will be more in the future. Isis is one lucky lady!
I’m happy to report that Annika Martin is giving us a chance to learn more of all of the Bank Robbers backstories. In book five, The Hard Way. it’s Odin’’s dark night.
What I appreciate so much is that all problems are not solved, all hurts not healed. But what shines through so brightly is how much Isis calms each of her husbands individually and makes them such a strong unit.
One more to go. The good doctor’s turn is next. And surely a happily ever after? At least for now? I want them to have a home and just be…
Let me start by saying that this is the first book of the series I have read and I should have probably read the previous ones and why didn't I? But even like that I could perfectly follow. Isis and her three husbands, Thor, Odin and Zeus, are finally getting a break and relaxing when trouble strikes for Isis' sisters..and obv they are on the move and will try to help. I have to say I can’t just place this book in amy genre, or maybe is just me lol..but there is a bit of everything goin..it's fun and crazy, serious and with some shadows, hot and dirty, ans there's suspense and introgue too. I loved it and I think isis and her men are just perfectly imperfect together..they just work together and there is something about them charming and loving and so crazy at times. I am totally going to go back amd read the whole series.
I unfortunately didn’t like this one as much as I liked the first three. But that’s not to say I didn’t still enjoy it. I feel like the reason I couldn’t get into this one or the fourth one as much is because I feel like the story ended after the third one. I’m glad that we got more from them though and I wish there would have been a prologue to really tie everything together. This book was really funny in parts as well, so I really enjoyed that!!
Wow, I absolutely love the Kinky Bank Robbers. This just shows that they will go to hell and back for each other. I love how they took so much care of Odin and Isis throughout their struggles. Oddin's struggle to take the pain away from Isis lead on a whole new level that Thor and Zeus can't understand, but then again they are all on different levels when it comes to Isis and that is why she will always love them for the men they are. The same is also, true of Isis she will do what she can to take their pain away. She never wants to see her loved ones in pain, always wiling to to go to hell and back for them. Thank god this it took all of them working as a team to help clear her sister and her families good name. In the process she gets to meet her She meets one of her sisters and get revenge on Hank Vernon. Life is sweet, know if only they can get rid of Denko and take down ZOX. Most of all Muhfoud too, for making Oddin go dark in the first place.
This was a great addition to the series! I feel like this book was mostly focused on Odin, he had a lot of character development and I appreciated getting to know him better. A great mix of light and romantic scenes with serious and dangerous situations, there was never a dull moment. I can't wait to read the next book.
I'm sad that book 6 is not out yet. I don't know what to do in the meantime oh wait Annika has other books I can read while awaiting the Kinky Bank Robbers. And they are kinky which I LOVE! I highly recommend her books unless you're the type that gets upset with hot sexy characters. If so read something else, or get it to read in the closet so no one will know. Hee hee
I fell in love with The God Pack when I read the first book. I am truly hoping there will be another in this series. The way these 4 individuals care about, look after and love each other is amazing. It's so easy to get lost in their story and I definitely didn't want it to end.
It's over, I devoured it and now it's done and I am so sad to leave this foutsome behind. I loved this book, lots of love, some danger, a little sadness and a big mystery. Great story. Wish there was more of this fabulous foursome!!!! This series was my first Annika Martin reads, but I will be checking out the rest of her books too!!! Go read these you wint be sorry.
Another great book, where our God Pack turns the tide against all the odds. The Cherubs were a crake up. So did not want this book to end. Can't wait for the next!
