I'm the author of forty+ books for children, including the best-selling Twas the Evening of Christmas, I Wonder: Exploring God's Grand Story, The Wonder That is You, and six popular series: Love Letters from God, Snuggle Time, Little Mole, Twas, Good News and Bedtime Blessings. Here's my little story...
Although I live in Michigan, USA, I was born and raised in a little village in northern England.
I grew up in a big old house, with two wonderful parents and seven siblings. My dad was the one who introduced me to the gospel. My mum was the one who encouraged me to work with children.
And at primary school, my teacher was the one who urged me to write. One day a week, I was one of the lucky few withdrawn from the classroom to sit in big, comfy armchairs in the teachers' lounge. There, in front of a roaring log fire, with pencil and paper at the ready, I would write.
Four long decades later, I would find myself living across the pond, married to a wonderful man, mum to four adult children and three daughters-in-law, and grandma to three bouncing boys and one gorgeous girl. And as if all that wasn’t blessing enough, I somehow became an author, despite giving up on my first book halfway through.
And if you would have told me then, that this book would one day become a series, that I would begin a second series, and a third… I never would have believed you. The only possible explanation is that our great God is able to do immeasurably more than all I could ever ask or possibly imagine.
If you have a toddler or are a grandparent of a toddler, you will want to add SNUGGLE TIME CHRISTMAS STORIES to your Christmas book collection. The beauty of this book is the word choice. It is "just right" for little ones, helping to instill God's beautiful story in their hearts at a level that makes sense to them. I can also see this book being used in toddler classes in churches everywhere.
It is a beautiful padded board book--very eye appealing with foil and glitter. There are 13 short, individual poems that each include a reference from Scripture. My favorite poem is "Hee-Haw, Said the Donkey."
I have been around toddlers enough to know that animal noises are a hit! And I can picture all of the little darlings acting out the noises and then rocking baby Jesus to sleep in their arms. So precious!
Thanks, Glenys for another beautiful book that will impact little hearts with the beautiful message of God's love for them!
This is a REALLY cute book. My 4 year old was quickly drawn to it - lots of foil and glitter, lots of cute faces, lots of color and different scenes. It was fun to go through the different poems with her and she not only enjoyed listening but also holding the padded board book and asking questions about the pictures. Such a great addition to our Christmas library!
Want to see one of the cutest children’s Christmas books I have ever seen? Look no further than this adorable book. Its shiny and brightly colored cover will surely catch a child’s eye, while the cushioned cover will feel really nice in little hands.
But the charm of this book doesn’t stop there. The inside of the book is very appealing as it is filled with delightful illustrations by Cee Biscoe that are full of color, and are on every page--little fingers will find the thick pages easy to turn. The Christmas story is told on a child’s level with a fun rhyme that will tickle the ears of both the reader and listener alike.
For instance:
“Snuggle in your pj’s Around the Christmas tree, And listen to the story Of how Christmas came to be…”
After reading to my children I have seen, and read, a lot of children’s books. Snuggle Time Christmas Stories is one of the nicest ones I have come across. The true Christmas story is front and center in this fun book, and this volume should be a must have for Christmas, as well as, any other time of the year.
It would also make a nice gift, that will be sure to make children smile. It is a wonderful sight to look at, and read. Children are who non-readers to the lower grades in elementary school would enjoy this. I highly recommend this 5+ star book to any child in your life.
Nellist's book about the nativity was a GREAT read for the children. I read to children who have matriculated from my nursery class, so some of the children were between 4 and 7 years old. I would explain the image and then they had the CHOICE to have me read the very short text to them.
I teach children ages 18 months to 47 months at my church (nursery-aged children at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). With the pandemic, I have switched over to reading to children via Zoom or FB video. I have been looking for books with pictures that will "pop" through the camera and do not necessarily need text. I tend to customize each reading to the child's interest level, only reading the author's printed words when the child shows interest in an illustration.
For example, a 7 year old asked me to read the text that went with three angels announcing the birth to three shepherds tending to their sheep on a hill and Bethlehem was visible in the background.
This was the text: "Great News! The angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news.' Shepherds on a hillside, / Sleeping in the night, / When suddenly the sky was filled / With music, song, and light. 'We've got great news to tell you!' The angels sang with joy. 'Take your sheep to Bethlehem, And meet God's baby boy!'
The nativity stories are framed with illustrations and text about a contemporary family snuggling with their two toddler children (one with brown hair, one with blond).
Parents and caregivers will appreciate this delightful board book version of Jesus’ birth. Targeted to babies and toddlers, the sparkly cover, adorable illustrations, and rhyming stanzas will keep young listeners engaged as the text explains the Christmas story with age-appropriate detail. Each spread introduces kiddos to a condensed Bible verse that outlines this special holiday. Young readers will enjoy the book’s important message as well as learning their connection to it. Snuggle Time Christmas Stories is a welcome addition to the holiday reading tradition for any young family wanting to recapture the true spirit of Christmas.

Snuggle Time Christmas Stories is an adorable, rhyming, charming, lovely, engaging, educational, fun, and lighthearted board book! This book begins by showing a family enjoying Christmas together. After some fulfilled activities they snuggle up to read the Christmas Story. Starting from the point an angel appeared to Mary the Christmas story begins. It is told through rhyme, vibrant illustrations, vivid imagery, and with occasional humor. After the family finishes the story, they reflect on what a gift Jesus is to the world. They celebrate him and the wonderful Christmas season recognizing that he is the reason for it all. I adore this sweet board book and its beautiful message! It would make the perfect Christmas gift for any babies of toddlers in your life.
I love the Snuggle Time series, especially this delightful Christmas-themed one. Cuddle up and share the story of how Christmas came to be with your little ones. Each sweetly illustrated spread shows a different scene from the nativity with accompanying rhyming text and bible verse reference. One of my favorite pages has the manger animals using their animal sounds to adore the sleeping baby Jesus. So adorable! Ending reminds us of the true gift of Christmas.
I cherished the rhythmic writing. The book was a delight to read, flowing beautifully with a perfect story! I wholeheartedly recommend this book, as it’s one I would share repeatedly with my grandchildren.
