Guns N' Roses: The Most Dangerous Band in the World

Rate this book
Just when it looked like the raw side of rock 'n' roll had laid down and died, along came The Most Dangerous Band In The World spitting fury, rebellion and a frighteningly original talent. The first Guns N' Roses album, Appetite for Destruction, took the music world by storm, selling over a million copies in Britain alone. Their following is enormous, from teenage headbanger to rock sophisticate to middle-aged housewife. The meteoric rise of Guns N' Roses to super-stardom is now legendary, but the question remains why?

Mick Wall was with the band at every stage of their scintillating career and he traces each step in the great Guns N' Roses takeover. Featuring exclusive interviews with the band, he has captured the essence of their charisma and success - and has also traced some of the most outrageous and candid pronouncements ever made on the world of rock 'n' roll.

Fortune - Axl: 'We stopped counting after we got past $100 million.'

Sex - Slash: 'It's usually six in the morning and the only girls left hanging around look like something out of the Evil Dead. The trick is to just take 'em up to your room and keep drinking until they start to look good.'

Drugs - Duff: 'Sure, sure, of course... Everybody in this band has had his bouts with drugs. You got any?'

Really, this is mostly a series of interviews with Slash, except Wall gets real fancy with his in-scene descriptors. I've read Mick Wall's Metallica book, and that one was more a straight biography--this is just a bunch of interviews with Slash, with a couple of Duff and Axl sprinkled in there for good measure. Shit's fun, and I like how overdramatic Wall gets sometimes.

Niestety relacja Mick'a Wall'a kończy się z początkiem 1991 czyli jeszcze przed wydaniem płyt "Use Your Illusion I i II.
