There's another novella in the works (Evangeline and the Mysterious Lights) and a collection of the first four episodes coming out in 2017. I have at least another 3 in various stages of development. Plus a reader suggested a Christmas special. Just give me another few hours in each day.(less)

3 and a bit

I feel that at last I am starting to get more substance in the character of Evangeline in this instalment - a stronger sense of who she is and what motivates her - and this is the novella in the series that I’ve enjoyed the most so far.

Evangeline and the Spiritualist (2017) by Madeleine D’Este is another episode of Evangeline’s adventures in Victorian Melbourne. This time Evangeline encounters a spiritualist who may or may not be fraudulent and is around as a mummy is unveiled.

Evangeline and her father and her household are now a bit more developed as characters from the previous episodes. There is a bit less action in this episode but even more development of the characters.

It’s still fun though and there is quick wits, plenty

Another fun caper through Steampunk-ed historical Melbourne! The series takes a change of pace in this instalment, focusing on developing some of the deeper questions being developed over the series, such as the strange energy Evangeline discovered with the Alchemist, and some of her family's secrets.

There is seemed to be slightly less action in this one, but Evangeline's character development and understanding of herself and her family made up for it - it feels like a transitional book, going

The above links to my review of the first four episodes in The Antics of Evangeline (but it's totally non-spoilery if you're just starting out with Evangeline).

I will say this one was my favourite!

This tale is another delightful romp for Evangeline, bringing out more of her past and more mysteries I can't wait to see develop. I adore this series and hope for many more Evangeline tales!
