Rate this book
Head of the Irish mob, Patrick Murphy can have any woman he wants.
Except the one he hungers for most…Lauren, his ward.

Patrick Murphy leads the Irish mafia in his city. He could have any woman he wants, except the one he’s forbidden himself to take—his ward, Lauren. The woman he craves.

Until now, he’s managed to keep her out of his arms by sending her out of the country. But she’s finished with college and is back home, and his resolve is rapidly crumbling. She’s determined to have him, and it’s impossible to fight her and himself.

If…when…he surrenders, he knows she’ll hate him once she finds out his darkest secret. One that will change everything.

*****
This story contains violent and sexual situations that might offend some readers. If you don’t enjoy dark romances, this might not be the book for you. However, if you enjoy a possessive alpha mafia man torn between conscience and desire, prepare to meet Patrick.

3,5 stars. Good standard mafia novel. It's what you expect it to be.

Aaah this book was starting so good and bam! Disappointment...

Our male character Patrick Murphy, head of the Irish Mob had a ward Lauren tucked in Ireland for her security and his peace of mind.

So our Daddy Murphy (What ? He is 40 something, so yes he is a Daddy ^^) is attract to his ward but he has a secret, a big bad dark secret that if revealed would drive Lauren away.

Our female character, Lauren is in love with Patrick Murphy since she was 17 years old.

Now at twenty something she's back home and claim Murphy.

She was a nice character at first, a little bland but hey not so bad.

My problem was the moment she assured him that head mob or not she loved him anyway.

And then when he showed her his "real work"she was horrified. Ugh yeah the Mob is not hearts and flowers more like murder and stream of blood. If you say you understand what the Mob do, why so surprise after witness it?

Otherwise, I won't read this book again.

This novel was okay. It wasn't my favorite thing I have ever read mostly because of how cliche the story line was. There was literally no drama and every time you think there would be something exciting happen, the drama is just cut off and the couple is happy again. I personally like to connect with the characters and I couldn't really do that because the author made it impossible to do so. There was no incite to how the characters are, barley anything on their emotions. For being a kindle unlimited story, i guess it was pretty good, but I would definitely not buy it. Even though the summary of the story made it seem it was more exciting than it actually turned out to be.

Note this is a previously published work under the name R.E. Saxton and has not been updated, edited or changed for re-release.
I will start by stating this story in the series is not dark but just a mafia romance. For a re-release under a new authors name I would have like for the work to also have been edited better. I did enjoy the story and the HEA. This book can be read as a standalone but is book 3 in the Mafia Romance Series.
