Set in 1903 Nevada, Ava De La Vega is a very wealthy, independent woman. The life she has now did not come easy to her though. Dumped at an orphanage as a young child and forced to grow up earlier than most children, she has become what her circumstances have dictated, she is a resilient survivor.

After running away from the children's home as a teen she was lucky to find employment and because she carefully saving every penny she earned, she was able to buy her own piece of land in Tono

I received a copy of this book directly from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I was a little on the fence with how to rate A Road Paved in Copper by Angela Christina Archer. As I first delved into the book, I was a bit thrown by the style in which the narrative was written. There was a lot of description—beautiful description—but it tended to come off as telling more often than showing. For all the words used to describe Ava De La Vega’s world, none of them had quite the imp

I was in a reading funk until I picked up this book and was pulled into a story of love, loss, adventure and deception.

I have many thoughts about Ava and her character. She is very strong willed, and at times I thought too strong. However, Ava does have a softer side it just isn't revealed as much because she is a woman in a man's world in 1899. Because she owns many mines, she has to be tough and aware of what is going on around her and of those that want to take what she has away. This does no

I give this book 4hearts

This is the story of Ava a strong, fiery woman that is making her way in a man's world. She is smart and resourceful she is able to keep going when obstacles keep getting thrown in her path. Craig is her perfect match allowing her to be who she wants to be but man enough to keep a woman with a passion for life happy.
The characters are well written, the plot exciting, you feel completely immersed in the time period the choice of language and events, the backdrop all of i

What an adventurous tale of how life was in 1903. Mining was hard work, the type of work that only men did...that is, until Ava stepped into the scene. A successful miner, Ava worked hard, didn't let anyone push her around, and spoiled herself with her earnings. Each chapter was full of surprises and the way the author crafted this story was fantastic. Craig came on the scene at just the right time and I rooted for their connection immediately. I hated reaching the end of this book because I enj ...more

This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. The book was well written with an interesting plot and strong, developed characters. Ava was a strong woman in a mans world. She owned some silver and gold mines in Nevada and was a very rich woman. She worked hard and could handle a gun better than most men. On her trips to San Francisco she dressed to the nines and stayed in the finest hotels. That's where she met Craig and the attraction is mutual. They really compliment each othe ...more

Fantastic book!

Loved this book! The author makes you feel as though you are right in that time period with the characters, with the descriptions and choice of words, and it was very well researched. I especially enjoyed reading about Ava, who was headstrong, bold, and lived her life just as she wanted. Great read, strong characters, and overall wonderful book!

A great story with a strong female protagonist!

I really enjoyed Ms. Archer's latest novel. Ava is such a great character who I would love to meet in real life. Craig was a great match for her and I love that Huck redeemed himself so spectacularly!
