This is the third book in Anne Louise Bannon’s Freddy and Kathy 1920’s period mystery series (following “Fascinating Rhythm” and “Bring Into Bondage”), and it is another good read. Bannon branches further afield within her 1920’s setting this time, with a venture into period politics, including the Teapot Dome scandal. The story also takes us across the country from New York to Los Angeles, which is fun for me as an Angelino. All my favorite characters are back and some new ones are introduced. ...more

I won this book on Goodreads. This book is set in the 1920's. Freddie andKathy are newlyweds who are hiding the fact that they are married so that Kathy can continue with her publishing job. Freddie's sister Honoria find a dead body in her apartment. Honoria goes into hiding and Freddie and Kathy decided to find out who killed the girl. It takes all three of them across the country and leads them into danger as they try to figure out what happens. ...more

This was an interesting read, I kept feeling like I had read it or something else like it recently – sort of reminded me of the Thin Man series on television --- this is the first I have read of Anne Bannon – was nicely written, a complicated mystery with a happy ending! Look forward to reading more of Kathy and Freddie and their cuckoo friends!
