by
In 2007, three years after leaving the military, Zev Evans is a drunk – and a neurotic one at that. Living with his Sicilian mother and running figure eights through Long Island’s dense suburbs, he believes that the weird thoughts that plague him – he calls them tics – might have entered his head while he was undergoing brain surgery three years earlier.

It has been a while since I have read anything from Mr. LePore. Yet, I can tell you that he still has it. Not that I doubted that he ever lost it. Mr. LePore infuses such life into his stories and characters. This short story was no different.
Instantly, I shared a connection to Zev as well as Carol and Eva. The women were strong. Eva was the wild card in this story. A sexy siren with brains and a strong personality. She and Zev worked well together. The bond that Zev was talking about with Caro ...more

Great short story about a very interesting man...
Zen Evans is a wonderful character, a little off, someone who has problems and a tough medical history but is still extremely good at what he does. Which is fixing things, situations that a person may find themselves in, unable to get out...this is where his talents can make everything better.

Amazing! Absolutely amazing! A tense and concise thriller in 139 pages!! The characters well developed, especially the menacing Zev Evans, the action was non-stop, with vivid descriptive writing, all in 139 pages!!!
This novella was a page turner. I hope that Zev Evans will be back in a future book because I didn't want this story to end!!
If you haven't read anything by James LePore, this is your chance to see what an extraordinary writer he is. Highly recommend! ...more

I was BEYOND excited to get my hands on this latest Zev Evans novella! “Breathe In Grace” completely captivated me from start to finish, and I’ve been anxiously awaiting Zev’s reappearance ever since. Although this is the second Zev story, it’s technically a prequel to the first since it covers the events leading to “Breathe In Grace” - all the more appropriate considering Zev’s stream of consciousness narrative that fans have come to adore. Either way, first-time readers will have no trouble fo

I write what I like to read: novels and short stories with compelling, fast moving plots, in exotic venues, populated by flawed characters who, finding themselves caught up in situations of extraordinary stress and danger, are forced to face their own demons in order to prevail. The world is full of extremes: terrorism and the courage to fight it, love and hate, lust and tenderness, corruption and
