This is a terrific first novel that captures the gritty essence of life in lower Manhattan. Melinda Tyler pairs an unlikely couple of allies in Montana Wylde, high end call girl/law student/childhood sexual abuse survivor and a middle aged alcoholic private eye named O'Malley. Together they set out to solve the disappearance of Montana's friend and business partner, Suzette. It's an engaging read with likable compelling heroes, a truly creepy bad guy and kept me turning pages late into the night ...more

Enjoyable, well-paced serial killer mystery with rich storytelling and engaging characters I did end up worrying about as the plot thickened. There's a little bit of graphic adult material in here, so I recognize with that aspect, it may not be for everyone. ...more

Feminine pulp fiction. Fast paced and well written: you both care about the characters and are anxious to find out what happens. The "whore with a heart of gold" theme has been done before, but seldom this well Truly a good read!

A mystery with spice.

A very fun, fast paced and engaging book. You don't want to put it down unless you read one more chapter and another one and another. Normally mystery fiction is not my cup of tea - I'm more of a sci-fi girl but I liked the story and the character - she is smart, beautiful, independed and savvy woman who studies law and runs a high-end call girl service business. When her best friend and business partner goes missing and police doesn't prove to be helpful she partners with a private detective to ...more

Montana Wylde is a protagonist along the lines of another favorite, Sue Grafton's Kinsey Milhone.

Compelling backstory. Montana Wylde is triumphant!

Here you have it. Feels like I´ve been reading an hardboiled Raymond Chandler but in present time. Just waiting for Humphrey Bogart to pop by but the dectective O´Malley is good enough. But the main character, female Montana Wylde, is even better. Think she is very close to the author as they both share experiences as workers in the sex industry. So the credibilty is high when I am reading, the author, Melinda Tyler, really knows her stuff. Also, another important thing in this genre is that you ...more

I have had an interesting life. I've made lots of mistakes, good choices, and some bad ones that I own. I am brutally honest in my blog where I talk about my struggles as a survivor of sexual abuse, my years spent in the sex industry--working as a high level call girl, and my final descent into heroin addiction and homelessness.

With the help of many angels on earth, I reclaimed my life in the mid
