They’re the most unlikely duo you could imagine. After all, what could a fiercely independent Fae possibly want with a stubborn dragon shifter who seems to think he needs to protect her? Okay, sure, Darius is spine-tingling sexy with a wicked sense of humor, not to mention that cocky smirk on those deliciously perfect lips that can’t seem to stop smiling at her…

The beginning of a new series by this author and it's certainly off to a good start. We are introduced to Kaye a fairy who knows her own mind and doesn't care if she stands out. Rule no 1 in how to avoid bad books: Never read a book where the heroine squeals.

This book is a Fresh, and unique new Urban Fantasy with a heated romance thrown in as well. Dragon shifters, Fairies, Witches, Warlocks, Demons, and so much more thrown into this action packed novel.
It all starts off with Kaye being told by a Dragon shifter that she is in danger, but of course she shrugs it off because she is the one that stays out of trouble and spends her life helping others, but she never knew what could really happen or why she was in danger until an enchanted Gargoyle with ...more

My Thoughts – 4.5 out of 5 Unicorns - I more than liked it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!! And I already pre-ordered my own copy!
The cover is very intriguing and awesome!
This is the first book in a new series, and it should be read by adults!

I love Darius & Kaye! This is an exciting story! I enjoyed getting to know Darius and Kaye as well as the secondary characters, who I think will be rising in the up and coming books. Darius and Kaye are both strong characters and I loved their interactions; they were witty and fun and had me smiling. I would have enjoyed even more of them, and hope their story will continue in the next book.

A Great Start to a New Series!
I pre-ordered this book, then had a chance to read a pre-release copy so I jumped at it. I’m so glad that I did. Faeries, mages, witches, shifters, gargoyles and Dragons…oh my!
Gotta start with the name of the heroine, Kaye. Admittedly, I’m partial to this name since it’s my middle name. I don’t see or hear it much so it’s was an instant attraction. While it's not an uncommon name or nickname, it’s not every day I find a main character with the name.

I love paranormal romance and the author has done a great job at building this wonderful world of supernaturals. Everything and anything you can think of are there.
This is the story of Kaye the Fae and Darius the dragon shifter. She meets him in the woods and finds a connection with him. He is broody, standoffish and too handsome. He doesn't give her anything only to stalk him at her workplace back in manhattan.

You think you are one person all your life, only to find out it was all a lie. No wonder she wasn't thin and gorgeous like the other fairy sisters, no wonder they always made wisecracks about her. They knew all along that she was different, but no one ever bothered to tell her, not even her dear brother who took off when she was a teenager with no explanation. Why does the most powerful warlock want her dead, is it really because she is a shifter sympathizer, or is it because of who she really i

Author Catherine Vale has an amazing Urban Fantasy Series here! I love the combination of Faerie, Shifters, Vampires, Demons and other Creatures of Magic! Such continuous action the pace of this story I'd phenomenal. I really loved her characters, Kaye the spirited Fae, so alive in All she does. Darius, the incredibly hot and sexy Dragon Shifter, who wouldn't want a piece of him, yumm! Their lives are about to change in ways neither of them are ready for, but they face it head on.

Meet Kaye, a powerful fae and Darius, a dragon shifter.
They meet and sparks fly. Yes sparks but not the good hot kind.
But danger awaits them and it was very entertaining to read how these two work out in the end.
The Question is, what have a independent fae and a stubborn dragon shifter in common?

Kaye is a fairy, and like all fairies needs to refresh her magic in the forest. On her yearly fairy camping trip with her sister fae she runs across the gorgeous Darius. A dragon shifter she can't get out of her head. Except he disappears for a week before returning and warning her she's in danger.

I loved this book so much. I loved that Kaye was a strong and not typical fae.. i loved that there are dragons.. I liked darius but I wanted more about him.. more about who he is etc.. but he was still so strrong and sexy and lovable.. This was funny.. it was entertaining and the writing was amazing. i am glad i got to review it

A light, enjoyable read. It is a bit cheesy at times, but I liked the characters and think this is a good book to read whilst on-the-go, or if you're looking for a relaxed way to spend the evening.

This was a pretty cool story. It was about a shifter and a Fae aka fairy. I truly liked that Kaye was not like any other fae. She was different from the rest and had her own personality. She did not feel like she had to be this perfect person all the time.

This first book kicks off this new series with a bang. I was sucked right in from the beginning and I couldn't put the book down. I really liked Kaye. She's kick butt, but has a vulnerable side to hides pretty well. The story is told from first point of view from Kaye. the only thing I wished while reading is we got Darius' point of view, but that's just a personal reader preference. I can honestly say though Catherine Vale did such a great job writing that I hardly thought an bout it. ...more

MAGIC FIRE
I absolutely loved this book. I'm so glad I got the opportunity to read it, as this is not a typical book I would normally choose to read. The storyline was intriguing and very entertaining. I loved Darius and Kaye, who were both strong and stubborn characters. They had such great chemistry and were well suited. I do wish that we could have met Darius's family and I also would have loved to get his point of view on things. But ...more

What a great start for this series. It's a very interesting and entertaining read this story doesn't offer much heat unless you consider there was a dragon involved. But that didn't take away from the story at all both Darius and Kaye had plenty of sexually tension to keep you going. Overall enjoyable read looking forward to intriguing series and seeing what else is in store for Darius and Kaye. I voluntarily read and review this ARC I haven't been compensated in any way.

After reading anthology Secrets and Sorcery, figured should give some of the writers another try if they were on ku. Have you ever heard the old saying, those who can write, write; those who cannot write, become critics. That's not really true, because I have had things published, and do reviews here and on goodreads plus a few other places. What is this writer's need to keep dropping the 'f' bomb? I can't even spell out the word without amazon TOS flagging or deleting my review, ...more

The story starts off slow, and doesn't get really exciting until the second half of the book. There was not much development in the romance between Kaye and Darius in the first half of the book. There is some talking and hanging out, and a little kissing, but nothing exciting or noteworthy. Kaye has a lot of libido, and wants Darius. Darius is really hot and wants to protect Kate. I know it is normal for a book in a series to start slow, so this is forgivable. In the second half of the book, we

I loved this book because it fed all of my literary likes...magic, fantasy, shifters, suspense. I was in book heaven reading this. The magical kingdom is gearing up for war, but are they ready for what is coming? At times its difficult for me to read books that come in series because if i really like it then i get impatient waiting for the next installment, as is the case with this one. Im bouncing in my seat, tapping my foot, and biting my nails in anticipation of the next book! Magic Fire had

There's an instant connection between Kaye and Darius when they meet and spend a couple of hours together, but just when Kaye, who happens to be a fairy, is ready to admit she's never going to hear from dragon shifter Darius again, he shows up at her door telling her he is there to protect her from danger, which she scoffs at. Circumstances prove him right and they discover it's not only her in danger but all supernaturals, because an evil warlock has just declared war.

I found this book to be a great and unique mix of paranormal romance and urban fantasy. We have all you typical magic contenders such as fairies, witches and warlocks but we also see gargoyles and your not so typical shifters. The author manages to create a world that is both new and interesting but tried and true all at the same time- giving the paranormal lover more than enough to keep them invested in the book and lives of the characters,

I have mixed feelings about this book....on one hand I enjoyed the overall story but it took ages to get to that point and at times it felt like a chore to read. Also, the relationship seemed forced, no build up or heated moments - just straight in there with the smooching and I wasn't invested at all. I will probably read the sequel because the ending was decent and I like where it seemed to be going.

It was an interesting premise - I liked the concept enough to finish the book since I hoped something would eventually click and I'd start enjoying it - but I didn't care for the execution. There was no emotion imbued into the prose - basically this happened, then that, then they responded with this, etc. So I guess it was more "telling than showing". In the end I was left unsatisfied with the way the story played out.

I just finished this book, and am now a big fan of Catherine Vale. I’m more of a fantasy gal than a romance gal, but when they meld together like this book does I review it. I loved the storyline, the writing is excellent, the characters well-developed and interesting, the humor real and funny. Sizzle is building just the way it should be, and the world-building is progressing well. I’m already reading the second book to see where it goes. Excellent book overall!
