In life there are always lines we never allow ourselves to cross that’s no different for Twenty-four-year-old Nicole Fletcher aka (Nic) when it comes to never crossing that line with her best friend's younger brother Landon Pike, even though it would be an easy line to cross even whilst yelling in her head No No No, that line getting crossed is inevitable.

My thoughts after finishing Goodnight, Nic? Marley Jacobs, where have you been all my life? Because if this debut is any indication of what's to come, Jacobs already has quite the fan in me. Now settle in and prepare for much gushing...

Nic feels like her life is falling apart. Lorraine, the woman who raised her, the woman she considers her mother, is dying and there is nothing to be done. Between Lorraine's insistence that she write "grief letters" and their Thursday night Golden Girls

I really liked this. Humor is well written and well placed in a book about grief, keeping it from feeling too heavy. And there's a Jim Morrison reference which had me blasting The Doors at 5am. 😍😍😍

The author has a unique voice and I look forward to reading more from her, especially considering this was her debut.

Lorraine would like that. She liked him. Would. Liked. This is how it’s going to be now – past tense. Lots and lots of past tense. And pain - the awkward pain that ensues as we

Thanks ARC for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm going to start with the things I like about the book, i love the characters a lot especially Landon for holding on to the love he has for her even when it's unrequited, i like the writing style and the plot is amazing, apart from their romance the writer manages to put her daily life, work, family and friends in the book.

Things I didn't like, i still don't get what the cover is about, i get that it's about birds but how is tha

A wonderful NA story with layers and layers of great feels!
I really enjoyed all the many levels of emotional twists in Nic's world; her sadness over her "mom's" cancer, the way she's hiding from all of her relationships, and especially how she's really in love with her best friend's younger brother, Landon, but just can't take that leap, with out fearing she's going to lose the only anchors left in her life. One amazing night with Landon, and now no one else compares ... it's so cute how Landon

All in all, the central messages this novel brings to the table was touching. This is one of those reads where it tugs on your heartstrings. Nic is a woman that many of us can identify with and see us pondering on what's next for her. Clearly, when you feel your world crumbling down and the glue that supports you is dissapating, you tend feel great turmoil and become lost, needy, contemplative, and perhaps distant.

I felt for Nic, I really did. She had a lot on her plate but luckily she was not a

Nicole is going through a really really rough time. The woman who raised her and is basically her mum is dying and all she can do is sit by and watch. The only thing that is keeping her distracted the fantasies she is having of Landon, who also happens to be her best friends little brother. But despite her bed to resist, Landon has a way of also making her melt. What she doesn't know is Landon doesn't just want to distract Nic, he wants to be the person who catches her when she falls, to make he ...more

Where do I start?

I can’t believe this book is a debut novel. I’m in awe and slightly jealous of Marley Jacobs right now (lol).

“Goodnight, Nic” was funny, heart-warming, sad, witty and simply, one of the most original love stories I have ever read. The references Marley Jacobs made in this book are bar none. If you love Golden Girls then definitely pick up this book. You will smile the entire time you’re reading this gem even when tragic moments in the book take place. I know it sounds strange, b

Guys, I have to tell you something… I’m sort of in love with the writing in this book. Also, it won me over with one of the most important things for me in contemporary books: DIALOGUE! The dialogue is smart, fun, fast and witty, and it put a huge smile on my face.

I think the blurb is pretty explicit in terms of the actual story: Nic is a lot lost. Her mother, aka, the woman who raised her, is dying of terminal cancer. And she and her other aunt are doing what they can to ke

OMG this book was amazing to me. I could not put it down, my son practically had to pry it out of my hands so that I would handle my daily business. It was that good. And it was so very emotional I was laughing one minute and crying the next, and I definitely did cry and quite a bit.
I thought this was mainly going to be a steamy romance read, but it was so much more. Lorraine's terminal cancer gave the books plot a lot of foundation. It was deeply sad at times but it was also a celebration of

Marley Jacobs blew me away with her first book, “Goodnight, Nic”. Her writing was emotional, thought provoking and had me completely enraptured in Nicole Fletcher’s life. This book had romance, life lessons, heartwarming situations and also heartbreak. All the things that we face growing up, that help define who we are. It wasn’t what I was expecting but a pleasant and refreshing surprise.

Can I also just say how freaking adorable yet sexy Landon Pike is? The fact that he’s been in love with his

Honestly? I loved it.
I don't even know where to begin, so we'll start with the first thing you see: the cover. It's very M.C. Escher like and I think it does a great job in showing the reader how Nic transforms from a scattered version of herself to a more confident young woman.
As you open the book and read the first chapter, the friendship she has with her best friend is so real and loving, it about leapt off the page. Nic's 'mother' and aunt are

I loved this sweet romance by Marley Jacobs and I can't wait to see what this author offers up next. Nic is struggling with the impending death of the woman who has been her mother since birth and how this will affect her everyday life. Along with this comes the realisation that her best friend Aubrey's younger brother Landon is in fact someone she has feelings for, queue some very tough struggles and life lessons for this young woman.

Fear is the main driving force for Nic throughout this book

This book is all about finding love at the worst time in your life. Nic is slowly but surely accepting that her mom is dying and there is nothing she can do about it. Throughout the book she seems to be about to spiral out of control but her close ties to her best friend and her family keep her sane. Her best friend's brother, Landon, is the biggest help of them all. Landon has a knack for slinging Nic a life preserver before she even knows she needed one.

Where do I even start?!
I LOVE MARLEY JACOBS' writing! She makes me feel all the feels. The dialogue is perfect, and feels very natural - I didn't even eye roll once during this book, and that's a rarity for me :)

The plot of this book was 1/2 what I was wanting and 1/2 not what I was wanting. I was in for a forbidden romance, and this book hits all those notes just right! No spoilers here, because the book description talks about it, but part

Oh my god! This was such a refreshing change from the kind of books I usually read. These characters were so well developed and had a depth that made reading this book interesting. I'm really thankful to the author for giving me an ARC copy of this book and I have to say, it barely took me a few hours to flip through it. I loved Landon and his tenacious nature. I love that he was there for Nic even though she was consistently pushing him away. These characters were easy to love and their ambitio ...more

Marley Jacobs is a great new author to add to my list of authors to keep an eye out for. ‘Goodnight, Nic’ was a surprising and emotional read that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. This was a 4 star read for me.

Nicole is struggling while trying to find any way she can to cope with the fact that Lorraine, the woman who raised her is dying. Needing to have an outlet Nic had been having a friends with benefits relationship but that had to stop when he wanted more than she did. The younger brother of he

I'm going to start by listing all the good things I loved from this book:

-The writing. Absolutely amazing, fast paced and eloquent. We totally get a grasp of how difficult and deeply painful the situation is for Nic, aunt Sybil and Lorraine, and yet is so wonderful to read the strong family and friendship bonds there are between them and the Pikes.
-Nic. Awesome character, strong, yet struggling with everything that's happening in her life atm, her value of family and frienship love is extraordin

Good Night Nic by Marley Jacobs

Good Night Nic hits all the right notes for a steamy new adult romance. I found the characters to be both likable and believable –occasionally they felt a bit stereotypical to me, but not to the point where it detracted from the story. There is plenty of erotic tension, and the sex scenes were, for the most part, well written. I had some issues with believability—I just didn’t buy it that two full-grown adults could comfortably have sex in the driver’s seat of car

4.5 ✨✨✨✨

This was a beautifully written debut novel and I can't wait to read more from this author in the future. Even though this is a emotional book that deals with a terminal diagnosis of Nicole's mom it was written in such a lighthearted way that it helps you embrace the romance of the story as opposed to the loss. The way Nicole's mom and aunt handled this news was done with such strength and comic relief at times I forgot about the sense of loss to come.

About a year ago Nicole started to lo

This book had me laughing, crying and wanting the book to keep going. When you have Nicole whose “mother” is dying of cancer she doesn’t believe in happily ever after. While growing up she became a part of the Pike family as well. Aubrey being her best friend since they were little and her mother Julie taking Nicole in as one of her own. Landon being Aubrey’s brother and a crush that Nicole has had forever is honest with Nicole about his feelings as well can they get past the “family” issue? Eve ...more

This was a really sweet story. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it had editing issues that I couldn't look past. That being said, it was really enjoyable and I read it in a few hours.

Nicole and Aubrey are best friends. Landon is Aubrey's brother and he's 4 years younger than Aubrey and Nicole. Nicole is attracted to Landon but because of the close relationship she has with Aubrey and the rest of the family, she's afraid to let it go too far. She also has inner demons th

I enjoyed this story from start to finish. Nic is a character that I immediately felt a connection to. She is going through the absolute hardest time of her life, and she manages to take it all on with a sarcastic sense of humor. Her relationship with her aunts, and their affinity for The Golden Girls reminded me so much of my childhood and the relationship I had with my grandmother.

Landon, well Landon is just the perfect guy

“Grief is one of those ideas you think you understand until you meet it face-to-face, gut-to-gut. After a sledgehammer of an introduction it insults you further by taking up residence deep inside your soul. It has the obnoxious melodrama of a teenage girl and the hormonal pulse of a bitter pregnant woman – not to mention the nocturnal stamina of a fucking vampire.” 2 likes
