If I closed my eyes, I could still see them—all blonde sunshine, ocean-blue eyes, and long limbs. The glint of Lake’s gold bracelet. Pink cotton candy on Tiffany’s tongue. My scenery may have changed from heaven to hell, but some things never would: my struggle to do right by both sisters. To let Lake soar. To lift Tiffany up. The sacrifices I made for them, I made willing ...more

I've been thinking about Lake and Manning's story non stop since. Messaging my friends who have read it. People I don't even know are messaging me about this story! It's THAT AMAZING. For the first time in a very long time, I don’t know how to articulate how I’m feeling while writing a review. So with that being said for now, I won’t be giving a rating for this book because I honestly don’t know HOW to rate it. This was one of my most highly anticipated reads for the year and I can’t tell you how much I was looking forward to reading this and finally getting some answers, but do you know how I feel right now? I feel like someone just gave me the biggest balloon

I suited myself up with as much armor and padding as possible before I dove into this book because I just *knew* it was going to take me places that I hadn't been in a while with a book with the slow burn angst alone. And by golly, it did. But I loved every bit of this story despite my suspicions and where it went because oh boy, it pushes the limits. So many feels, there's a particular intense scene towards the end regarding a charged conversation that only Jessica Hawkins can write and make co ...more

I started reading this book last night and only made it to 11% before the day caught up with me and I had to stop. I needed a good nights sleep so I paused reading until this morning. Well, let's just say I fucking devoured this book. I was in between raging and crying most of the time. I've NEVER had a book make me so damn mad and break my heart at the same time.

Jessica Hawkins has BLOWN MY EVER LOVING MIND! I wanna know where the F I have been that I'm just discovering her writing. Somebody E

*********Spoiler Alert********

This is one well written tale of self inflicted angst that is going to arouse the pain buds of many into full bloom. In this instance it's mostly going to be a case of me missing this asylum of despair as I'm just not understanding the sacrifice of the hero.He is so epically in love with one underaged sister (17yrs old) yet lowers his expectations to being fully involved sexually with her elder hot sibling that culminates in an eternal commitment.

So eventually when t

This review is challenging to write as I don't want to give away too much from Something in the Way or this book. I will say this though. I haven't even read book 3 - Move the Stars yet and this is my new favorite Trilogy. And most people that know me, know I don't really care for Trilogies. I don't like cliffhangers, I don't have the attention span to make it all the way through.... but these books? There are only a couple of books that I can say that I was so engrossed in that I shut out the c ...more

This woman AMAZES me with every single word she writes. I'm BLOWN AWAY constantly by the brilliance that shines through with each turn of the page. This book has BROKEN ME in the best possible way, and all I can do is put my trust in this incredibly talented author and believe that she and her characters will make me whole again.

Jessica Hawkins what in the world have you done to me? I've read books in the past that have made me ugly cry and do the emotional "I never want this story to end" scream, but that is nothing compared to how I felt after devouring this story. First Question? Why Can't I give this book 10 Stars.... This Series is Everything....Manning is becoming my favorite character. DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT READ - SOMETHING IN THE WAY (BOOK 1)
In Somebody Else's Sky you find Manning paying the ultimate price to protect the girl he loves... He knows he can & will never be with Lake. Manning feels that he has changed beyond repair, he is no good for Lake, and can snap at any moment. His growing relationship with Tiffany while still away fr

WORST-BEST book hangover EVER.
That was so cruel. Or was it? Maybe it was. I don't know!!! When I first finished the story, I was mad, really mad like super-ragey-angry-mad, I was basically all of the emoji faces all at once, especially the one with snot fuming out of its nose. Because that was me. I was crying, pacing, yelling and probably looking like a damn fool. Thank god I don't have a nanny cam because that wouldn't be p

The second instalment of this trilogy continues to project some discomfort at both the ages of two the three MCs and also with regards to the sibling relationships. It's a discomfort I'm happy to feel because this is a story that pushes the boundaries and makes you consider what is personally acceptable. There was some degree of fluidity with this for me, as the emotions of Lake and Manning made me reconsider, however, I kept returning to a place of discomfort.

The early part of SOMEBODY ELSE'S S

When Something in the Way ended, I felt anxious. Worried. Fretful. Stressed. Manning was off to prison, Tiffany felt like she had all the power because Manning left his stuff with her and asked her to look out for Lake, and Lake was left bereft, heartbroken, and feeling guilty.

Jessica Hawkins begins this book with Manning nearing the end of his prison stay. Tiffany has been a regular visitor (something Tiffany haters will despise), and he's suffering. I give major props to Jessica for how she d

OMG. This book is everything. Jessica Hawkins promised her readers a saga and she totally delivered. The second book in this series is more explosive and heart-breaking than the first! She really puts Lake and Manning through the wringer and truly creates wonderfully complex characters. Every single character reveals new sides and new secrets which is one of the best parts of this book. I also liked the addition of Val, Lake's new best friend, because she is exactly what Lake needs in her life. ...more

I need more stars!! Five isn't enough.
I was a wreck before I'd even started this book. I'm talking sweaty palms and heart palpitations. Like most people I'd fallen in love with Lake and Manning and to say I was desperate for more of their story is the understatement of the century. My heart raced manically from start to finish and I don't think I took a proper breath for hours. I'm not going into details at all with this review so it's going to be very vague.

I have craved having this book the second I finished reading Something in the Way (Book 1). This is definitely one of my most anticipated books this year. When it was in my hands I devoured it.
It took me about three days to be able to write a review about Somebody Else's Sky. This has been the first time that I had been unable to form the right words to express my feelings because I was left speechless. No words.

Ever read a book where you wish you were one of the characters friends and you could shout at them saying NOOOO? I've never cried and had my heart stomped on by a book as much as this did. It starts with Manning in jail and what he thinks about daily. Then we have Lake she's grown up in this book and still knows what she wants and loves hard. Tiffany just wants attention and doesn't care who she hurts in the process. So much happens in this book that makes you cringe and wanna throw your kindle. ...more

This book wrecked me. WRECKED. ME.

After reading the first instalment, Something in the Way, and knowing that this is a trilogy, I just knew that this second book was going to make me hurt before I can even begin to feel better again.

So, you know that this is not a standalone and it’s imperative that you read the first book before picking this one up.

Somebody Else’s Sky by Jessica Hawkins a gut-wrenching breath-taking five-star read.
