Hot mermen are coming! These tattooed shifters are climbing out of the secret depths to claim their soul mates and save their race.
Determined warlord Torun cannot wait to claim lush captain Lucy, who mistook him for a shipwreck survivor and pulled his injured body from the ocean. All his instincts tell him she is his soul mate. Now she must join with him and give him a child.
Lucy can’t believe the words coming out of this dominant male. He insists her destiny is to become a mermaid queen and mother to his future children. The one thing “destiny” forgot to mention was that Lucy’s a broke divorcee who can’t even have a child. It’s really too bad, because his gorgeous lips are all too kissable, and she’d love to see his iridescent gold tattoos moving as he flexed those broad, hard pectorals under the water...
But Torun’s in more immediate danger than a bad bump to the head, and Lucy is the only one who can save him. Their choices will either save the entire race of mermen, or destroy it forever.
This is a complete novel with a happy ending. Also, it features steamy mer shifter love scenes, underwater gun fights, and a giant female octopus named Mr. Huggles. For mature readers only, please.
Starla Night was born on a hot July at midnight. She hikes, scuba dives, and swims naked in the ocean. She writes about smoking-hot dragon-shifter billionaires and steamy alpha merman-shifters at StarlaNight.com.
Seduced by the Sea Lord was a unique, refreshing, and different read. I’ve not had the pleasure of read Ms. Night nor have I picked up a merman book before. Both the author and concept where new to me.
Hot Sexy Warrior Mermen. Oh My!!
The start was good, but a little slow. It took some time for me to get into the book. As for the characters they aren’t overly complicated. Ms. Night does a good job of explaining her mermen, throwing in a little about Atlantis and what it once was, and how the council is set on their old ways when others can see that that way is killing them and they need to change.
Torun is a merman and Lucy is a modern day women.
Torun defies the Council and he has to work on convincing Lucy that she is his. If not the punishment is harsh. As for Lucy she does a lot of protesting in her head, why this or that etc. It got a little old, but not to over powering to make me dislike her. It reminding me of all women. We like to over think things. I really liked that Torun can sense Lucy’s feelings and faces them head on instead of like Lucy’s ex-husband who dropped her as soon as she was a burden. The romance was sweet. The love scenes are warm and gentle, not over powering.
One of my favorite parts in this story are the guardians. They are just fun, adorable, and wonderful. If I lived under the sea, I’d want one as a friend/pet.
Their where two things that made me go hmm. One scene was close to the beginning that had me going, oh no are they going to sleep together even though they don’t know each other? Please no, but thankfully the author didn’t do this and gives our hot merman Torun a chance to convince Lucy that she is his destined woman. The other thing that I found strange is that Lucy leaves her Sea Opel with one of her interns on her boat when they go back out sea. This intern is a stranger and well her ex stole the first one, so why trust this person you don’t know? It felt opposite of what her character would have done.
Seduced by the Sea Lord focusing on the mythology and the rebuilding of the heroine’s confidence. Its also has a little conflict, a little action, and a bunch of sexy mermen.
Rated: 3 Stars
*Disclaimer:I received a complimentary copy provided by instafreebie with the sole purpose of an honest review. All thoughts, comments and ratings are my own.
While the plot was interesting enough, the writing and the world-building could definitely use some work. It was a little confusing cause I can't decide whether the underwater world is supposed to be all high tech like from Aquaman or like a caveman tribal behind the times version and that's just one of the inconsistencies.
But I also realize that in books like these, the first book is either the strongest-the world building at it's highest from the get-go-or the weakest-with the world building developing with each book-could be either.
So overview, I feel like the book leaves much to be desired especially since it hasn't convinced me to read the next book but at the same time I strangely really wanna read Aya's book (i.e book three) and Starla has a Dragon series and that word alone is my crack and I'm so weak. But I also have Ilona Andrews' On the Edge series lined up and Gosh Darn It! The woes of a reader.
Okay so... I don't think Mermen do it for me lol. I knew not to take this book seriously and I didn't. I just wanted some ridiculous fun and I got some of that. It was ridiculous and entertaining that way but after a while, I lost interest. I wish I could have cared for the characters or the plot a bit more but it was alright overall. I enjoyed the silliness. I don't think I'll be reading more from this series but who knows, maybe I'll change my mind when the right challenge task comes along.
Seduced by the sea lord follows Torun, a merman warlord and Lucy, a human girl who mistook him for a dead body. She brought him back up from the sea and miraculously, he survived. Even better than that, apparently the light he sees in her means she's supposed to be his mate, his "mermaid queen". They'll have children, yada yada yada, you know it.
Lucy, however, doesn't believe him at first (who would?) but she finds it okay to make out with him in her boat lmao. Anyway, she's had a bad break up with her ex-husband and is insecure about her being able to have children. After a while, she got on my nerve. She was a bit too needy to my taste.
I love paranormal books. It can be witches, vampires, dragons, shifters, merpeople, etc. it doesn't matter what the category is I enjoy paranormal. Whenever I find an author who writes paranormal they automatically get a 2 point star just because it takes a lot of imagination and it takes a lot of focus to write a paranormal romance book.
This book started off really annoying to me. My 2 star rating was slowly turning into a 1 star very quickly. Lucy drove me nuts. From their very first encounter to about a little over half of the book I wanted to strangle her.
Torun was super sweet and the way that he ended up dealing with her is just saintly. He kept having to reassure her and if he said something she would automatically think that he's lying. I understand that her ex-husband is straight trash however, he did not have anything to gain by telling her that she is amazing and he would stick by her no matter what happens. He even left his world for hers and yet she still felt as though she is not enough. Again, I can understand the feeling of not being enough however it got to the point where Lucy just needed a smack in the face to let her know that even though he is tolerant of you right now continue this self-deprecating behavior is not going to end well.
There was a lot of drama within the story. There was split factions, crazy neurotic ex-husbands, and worthless family.
I have to admit that I really did enjoy this book. I will continue this series because I'm interested in all of the women that are supposed to join this dating site that Lucy is supposed to set up whenever that is. Also want to know if Lucy and Torun ever get to have their fry.
Not a big fan of stories centered about getting pregnant. It was a little ick how the FMC kept thinking of the MMCs body when he was hurt and unconscious.
This AMAZINGLY FRESH, UNIQUE, FAIRY-TALE LIKE ROMANCE IS A TRUE WINNER! I am utterly and completely infatuated with these mermen! My favorite Disney movie growing up was The Little Mermaid and to have such a story that puts a unique twist on such a classic perked me right up, but what I got was something even MORE special. To say Torun is one of a kind merman and hero is putting it lightly. He AMAZED me with his loyalty and protectiveness, his caring, and his love to Lucy. Every time he comforted her with her "self-injuries" just had me melting and sighing and every well descriptive thing, from the way the mermen looked, to the way the Sea Opals were made for the Mr. Huggles and Lassie and the castle and place where the mermen resided had me captivated in a way I haven't felt. I read many paranormal romances but this one is something extraordinary and special and truly exceptional!
Starla Night won me over COMPLETELY with this STUNNING series and Seduced By The Sea charmed and delighted me in a way I am having a truly difficult time explaining. I desire SO MANY MORE of these books because Miss Night's writing, characters, amazing imaginative plot is 100% AWESOME and I want to explore MORE Lords Of Atlantis! This book is one I HIGHLY suggest you RUN to get and I am HIGHLY confidant, once you start you will dive into this book and won't want to leave. Seriously, one of the BEST books I have read...EVER!
Seduced By The Sea gets a STUPENDOUS FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Its brilliant and sweet, and charming....god, I SO want my own merman!
Lucy has reached rock bottom after her ex-husband cheated her out of everything, she is reduced to operating what used to be a lucrative business to a rinky tink boat that is forever spewing oil. But Lucy hasn't lost her spirit to travel the waters and fish in the hopes of maybe getting lucky again. When she hooks a body on her anchor, her rescuing instincts come to the forefront, not knowing that she is the one that's going to be rescued not from drowning either.
Torun dares to defy his people by looking for a queen out of water, being a Mer-Warrior it is highly treasonous, but he must save his people from a sure death. Being rescued by a human defies all reason, but when her light calls to him he realizes that it's either return to the depths and endure the ultimate punishment to a merman even a human man for that matter, or stay with the human who would be his queen on land, or sea... Which will he choose?
I tried to get into this book. It was real good in the beginning but then it stalled out for me. It almost seemed as if the author was just getting lazy as the story went on and tried to tie up the loose ends without the detail that was used in the first half. It was rushed and unpolished.
Also, there were some disprecancies in the timeline. When they came back to the surface and her ex said she had been declared dead and they had her funeral last week.? Come on, everyone knows its takes years to be legally declared dead. The timeline was inconsistent in that. I can suspend my belief but that was asking too much even from me.
Her character was too self-decrecating for my tastes and I got tired of it when she didn’t grow. He had to constantly assure her and I don’t mind that in a character. As long as it’s not overused and the character grows out of it. But she didn’t.
Seduced by the Sea Lord (Lords of Atlantis Book 1) Kindle Edition by Starla Night I received a copy directly from the author in exchange for an honest review. Seduced by the Sea Lord is a sweet paranormal romance that rides just below the boiling point, focusing more on the mythology and the rebuilding of the heroine's, Lucy, well being and confidence. Lucy is a deep sea diver, a sort of wet suited Lara Croft. After her greatest find, a large Sea Opal, her husband takes off with the Opal. There are other reasons that will be revealed but nary a spoiler will I give! Torun is a rebel Mer Warrior on the hunt for his Queen. He is acting against the counsel and perhaps the king as he searches for this women who will be his better half. She will make him complete, revitalize his city and give him the child he desperately wants. That's an awful lot to put on a recent divorcee' who has put her very last cent into a leaky boat to try to once again find the source of the Sea Opals. She finds Torun caught on her anchor, and finding that he is alive, drags him on board to save him completely. And so the adventure begins. The writing is sweet, almost a beginner's romance novel, with nary a kink or a blind fold to be seen. There are love scenes, not sex scenes. Warm and gentle lovemaking between two meant for each other character. Unfortunately, the females characters, from Lucy to all by Aya, can't quite fill the CFC (complete female character) shoes. When they are alone, in a group of just the girls, we have a less graphic Sex in the City gab fest about the male lead instead of anything intellectual. Aya, on the other hand, is all business. I would truly love to see Aya as the next conquest. The male characters also seem less than complete, they have two gears fighting and making love, except for the slimy Blake, Lucy's ex-husband. He also has theft and murder in his arsenal. My favorite part or is it parts of the story are the guardians. Funny, adorable and wonderful pets with high IQ's. If I lived under the sea, I'd want Mr. Huggles for my own. Safe enough for a NA to read but sweet enough for a jaded romance reader to fall for. 4 out of 5 https://smile.amazon.com/Seduced-Lord...
Fantastic Series - I just cant get enough. After reading these 4 stories, I'm an addicting fan. I look forward to the next installments. It's a given that I love mermaid stories but these stories have a built history behind them from not only the previous books but the author gives a insight to their past that is just heart breaking and in her stories they get redemption in their soul searching truth with their true mates.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. The plot was good the characters were alright. I loved the guardians! They were my favorite part of the whole book. It started out a bit slow and by the end something just didn't sit right.
An okay read, I would say. It started out good but as the story nears the middle, my interest sorts of fizzles out. So I had to reduce my rating to a two.
P.S. The Hero referring to his future baby as a young fry cracks me up every single time.
Wow, this was a fresh spin on a nautical paranormal merman meets human lady romance. This book had mystery, suspense, action, love, romance, and so much more. I can't wait to read more of the series.
FRESH, UNIQUE, & OH SO DELIGHTFUL !!! Title: Seduced by the Sea Lord Series: Lords of Atlantis Author: Stara Night Designation: Full-Length Standalone, NO Cliffhanger Reading Platform: Kindle Edition My Rating: Four Delightfully Entertaining Stars**** This was my first time reading the work of Starla Night but I can truthfully say, it won't be my last! I saw this featured as a recommendation in a newsletter from one of my favorite authors and was immediately drawn to the cover so I decided to check it out. I read the blurb along with the free sample on Amazon and it really piqued my interest. I made my purchase and dove in... and what a delightful surprise! I truly enjoyed it! Seduced by the Sea Lord is a unique and exciting new twist on shifters and paranormal romance featuring hot, swoon-worthy mer-shifter males who are desperately in need of human females to mate and continue their lineage. And when they find the human female whose light shines for them, she will become their queen. You know, like the old expression goes, a man is king of his castle(home)... Well, in mer warrior society, every male's underwater home is his castle and his mate becomes his queen. I love it! I always wanted to be a queen and what better way than to become the mate of a sexy, panty-melting hot merman with a hot body covered in special tattoo markings that will make any woman drool! OMG! They were somewhat similar to cavemen, never having been exposed to modern human society and they were just the cat's meow! The story was romantic, unique, imaginative, fast-paced, easy to follow and well crafted. The narrative was beautifully written in the third person with easily identifiable his and her perspectives from the two protagonists, handsome warlord mer warrior Torum and beautiful divorced treasure seeker and diver Lucy Shaw. I was immediately smitten with both Torum and Lucy. Coming from two very different worlds, their initial meeting and subsequent interaction was nothing short of hilarious but it was also mesmerizing as well as heartbreaking. Although I truly loved the unique premise and overall storyarc for this sexy romp, it's the well-developed cast of fascinating characters who truly stole my heart. But I also loved the dialogue! It was smart, snappy, well-executed, and absolutely hilarious. I always enjoy great dialogue and in this story, I found myself completely captivated, laughing nonstop throughout the entire book. Torum found himself having to adapt to the unfamiliar and very puzzling ways of the human world, trying to understand human society, the customs as well as language, and especially the expressions and idioms used in conversation. But Lucy also found herself struggling to understand Torum and the ways of his underwater world. It was beyond entertaining. But it wasn't all fun and giggles, there's also a mother-load of conflict and heartache liberally laced with action and adventure. This book has it all! If you're in the market for a unique and very imaginative story with engaging characters and beautifully detailed world building and filled to the brim with pulse-pounding danger, heartbreaking drama, spine-tingling action, exhilarating adventure, agonizing angst, dreamy romance and steamy passion, then this book is for you! No spoilers from me but I will say this... Sexy mer warlord warrior from a predominantly male underwater world desperately yearning for his very own queen to give him a small fry (baby...lol...)-check! Beautiful, divorced, very broke and unemployed underwater diver who lost absolutely everything including her home, money, self-confidence along with any hope of ever having a child because of her selfish, unfaithful ex-husband and is once again searching for sea opals-check! Danger, drama, angst, lies, deceit, betrayal and enemies above and below the surface of the ocean-check! Dangerous sea creature guardians (named Mr Huggles and Lassie...lol...)-check! Sweet romance, undeniable passion, steamy sex and a few miracles to boot-You betcha! That and a whole lot more!
Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! So, if I loved it so much, then why only 4 stars? First, there were a few minor hiccups but nothing that distracted me from the story. But my main criticism is the ending. There's an epilogue to the story that was not included in the book. In order to receive it, you have to sign up for Night's newsletter. I had already planned to subscribe but I don't like being forced to jump through hoops to get something which should have been included as part of the book. An author should feel confident in her work, allowing it to draw in new fans without having to dangle an epilogue as an incentive or enticement. I already paid for the book and took the time to download it. I should not have to spend more of my time downloading another file. Sorry, but that's just my opinion. And sadly, I see more and more writers resorting to this practice. Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain some steamy, dreamy love scenes! Who knew underwater sex could be so hot? Apparently, Starla Night and she expressed it exceptionally well in this story. And fyi, either Night did her homework and research extremely well or she's a diver in real life because her information and terminology were dead-on accurate. Will I read this author again? Abso-freakin-lutely! I can hardly wait to get Sacrificed to the Sea Lord, Book Two of the series, in my hot little hands! Thankfully, I don't have long to wait; it releases June 6, 2017. As a matter of fact, I've already preordered my copy! I'm not sure if Starla Night is a new author or this is just a new pen name but regardless, I'm a fan. After I finished this book, I raced to her web page and signed up for her newsletter so I'll never miss a new release! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Once I started reading, I could not stop! Before I even finished the first chapter, I was hopelessly and completely enthralled, riveted to my ereader, my heart fluttering in my chest while the time flew as quickly as the pages. I started the book late one evening and fell asleep with my Kindle still in my hands. I awakened the next morning still sitting up in bed (my favorite place to read), with my poor ereader dead as a door nail. I was so anxious to see what happened, I couldn't wait for my Kindle to recharge so I just plugged it in and kept reading! lol... Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
The beginning started off a little rocky for me, and read very rushed for me. Once the story got under the sea and into Torun's world, it started gelling just right for me.
The mer world is incredible! I can't wait to explore it more in the rest of the series.
I had never read or listened to a story about a Merman when I read this book but admit that I have now read the whole series. This one does hold a place in my heart because of Lucy who I found particularly easy to relate to because she like a lot of women has insecurities about her body, particularly as her ex-husband made her feel like a failure because of her inability to have a child.
This story starts with Lucy finding the body of a man tangeled in an anchor's rope whilst she is on a dive, she manages to get him free and safely up to the surface and then onto the deck of her wreck of a boat. Lucy can't help but notice that he's naked and covered in intricate tattoos, she manages to revive him only for him to tell her that he is a Sea Lord and intends to claim her as his Queen.
Torun has left the depths to try and find a wife, his race is dying it's been too long since one of his race mated and produced a young fry. For centuries they have mated with brides from a certain island/tribe but it's no longer working. Torun believes that Lucy is the perfect woman to be his Queen, her love of the sea and the mutual attraction felt between them is enough for him. He is unphased when Lucy tells him she can't have children, he assures her that if she goes with him and drinks the elixir from "The Life Tree" not only will she be able to transform and live beneath the sea with him, she will be able to bare him young fry.
Lucy had lost everything her home, her job, her professional reputation all at the hands of her ex-husband who stole her work and took the praise for her discovery of a sea opal which a large company thinks could have medicinal powers. When Torun tells her that he can show her many such sea opals she decides to go with him. She hasn't accepted that he is a mer but under the water, things change!
The story is well written especially the descriptions given of this new world I think that the author must either have first-hand knowledge or have done her research because her descriptions of life under the sea seem to be spot on! The story is peopled (for want of a better word) with interesting characters, some of whom make you smile, some you really will dislike, especially Torun's grandfather and Lucy's ex. The chemistry and the growing love between Lucy and Torun are very well written. Lucy's wonder and love of the world Torun shows her beneath the surface of the ocean is beautifully documented and the story is full of intrigue, drama, suspicion, and prejudice. Some of the mer feel as Torun does but will their belief in the chance of wives from the surface every come to fruition? Of all the sights and creatures Lucy comes across my favorites were the two octopi.
This review is written after listening to the audio version of this book. I had previously read this book way back in May of 2017 and went on to read the rest of the series but when I found out that this book had been made in an audio format I just had to listen to it. For me listening to a book I have already read is like going back and watching a favorite film for the second or third time, I get more from the story, little things I had missed the first time around, I was not disappointed this audio version is very well done, the narration by Chandra Skyye is excellent, every person/creature is brought to life adding to my enjoyment of the story.
Lucy is divorced, broke, and her now-ex husband stole her major archeological find a few years ago. To redeem herself, she’s searching for more Sea Opals off the coast of Cancun and finds a body instead. After she drags the sexy dark-haired man on her small ship, he wakes up and sets out to seduce her. Torun is in search for a human bride but the mer people have very strict rules about what type of woman is appropriate. After two fellow mer warriors leave him for dead, he finds himself on a human’s boat and recognizes Lucy as his intended bride. For him, it’s love at first sight. For Lucy, she’s sexually drawn to him but doesn’t believe they can be together. Though he tells her the truth about himself, she thinks he’s delusional but promises to help him save his native tribe (of humans, she believes) after he promises to take her to the source of the Sea Opals. I understood the beginning of the book but I became confused after Torun took Lucy to the underwater cave. When he telepathically spoke to her, she seemed able to understand him even though she hadn’t drank the special elixir yet. Once she finally believed that mermen are real, she totally accepts it without shock or surprise. After they were exiled, they decided to stay on land when they could’ve returned as the rulers of Sireno. Why didn’t they return? Why did so many mer warriors still want to kill them after Lucy proved herself a legitimate queen (wife) to Torun? None of this made sense to me but maybe I missed something. I received an ARC of the book through a newsletter subscription and I’m not sure how different the finalized copy is. In my edition, there’s a few missing words and punctuation errors. I hope that’s fixed in the final copy. Other than my confusion with a few plotlines, I thought the H/h were likable characters. Torun was righteous, determined, and devoted to Lucy. She loved him just as much and, through his acceptance of her, she started to believe in her own worth again. The story ends on a HEA but the epilogue is only available if you sign up for the author’s newsletter. I don’t understand why some authors do that. Since I’m subscribed, I downloaded the epilogue and it makes the HEA even sweeter.

This is NOT like a dime a dozen book. It felt fresh, intriguing (yes it has a good plot as well), charming and it is most definitely greatly entertaining. It brings to mind tales of the old where there is always a pearl of wisdom and truth that can be drawn from it (it offers a whole collier of them in the most generously caring manner). Inside you even find a witty and fast dialogue (LOVE IT!), hunky mermen (OH-LALALA!!), x-rated scenes , lovable characters, and a tale spun in a very gorgeous manner ( *infatuated Sigh*). Topping all the previously mentioned awesome features it also delas with some of all the issues that plague the modern individual, including (but not limited to) Weight. It is no easy task weaving in a intriguing story, some things that are absolutely without a doubt life defining, and the author has managed to do so in such a way that is so caring and understanding, it makes the reader hope things like that would happen in the world we live in!. Most people have at one point or another dreamt of or pretended that they could be like a mer man or mermaid, swimming endless oceans, the happy and positive feeling this book conveys makes me wish that it was real, so it would be possible, but since reality is what it is.. I will have to keep on dreaming. This book was givent to me as a ARC in exchange for a honest and unbiased review, this does not change my opinion and I review anyway, but it has to be said..
Lucy Shaw is on a quest to find another Sea Opal. The first one was taken by her now ex-husband, Blake. Torun is a Warlord of Sireno. Lucy found him unconscious under the water thinking he was a dead man. She hauls him up to her boat and discovers he’s alive. The first thing he does after waking is to try and claim Lucy as his bride.
I liked the story and I am interested in reading what comes next in this series. There were some parts in the story that were a little hard to understand, but you get what’s happening by the end of the situation. Lucy’s character had little to no self-esteem until almost the end of the book. Torun helped her by giving her positive reinforcement and encouragement so her “light” wouldn’t dim. She doubted herself a lot. He kept begging her to come with him to his home so she could be his queen and give him a young fry (a son) to save his people. There was mention (a lot of mention) of her not being able to have a baby and that being the main reason not to be his queen. In the end there is a “happy ending” for Lucy and Torun like the description says, but there is also a cliffhanger. He gives up his title, is still exiled and then we still don’t know if the Life Tree healed her or not.
Fun, sweet, steamy romance in human & mer warrior worlds
The world of mer warriors is fascinatingly beautiful and different from the human world on land. Seeing, speaking, hearing, feeling, tasting and moving (swimming) are enhanced to amazing degrees, serving to facilitate their extensive interaction with each other and the ocean's plants and animals. The mer need for human women, their physiques and physical abilities to live deep in the ocean, their gorgeous cities with living castles, all energetically connected with each city's Life Tree combine with their history, traditions, political organization and ability to see others' soul energies, result in a wondrous oceanic existence. Great fantasy world-building! I want to visit their world! The relationship between heartbroken, determined Lucy and desperate, determined Torun, is complicated by the culture clash (ignorance, blindness and misinterpretation) between them. Their misperceptions sometimes hurt, sometimes amuse them. Their efforts to be honest, kind and considerate of each other are touching. How they come to understand and encourage each other into healing, freedom and empowerment is a beautiful story. Their relationship evolves amidst challenges and steamy moments.
I wasn't sure I was going to like this angle on a shifter novel, as I feel that the shape shifting genre has gotten a little out of hand and kind of "jumped the shark". (The other day, I saw a blurb for a SNAKE shifter! Ugh!) But, this take on a Mer-shifter (Merman) came off as a completely believable shifter scenario/character. The plot was new, fresh, full of romance and sprinkled with bits of humor throughout.
I especially identified with Lucy, as I have body image issues, because of my weight, and I was unable to have children, as well. So, her struggle to believe that someone could love and accept her just the way she was really resonated with me. Torun is "that guy" who every girl like me dreams of finding. He loved her unconditionally and helped her to see herself for the completely whole, wonderful, worthy and sexy woman that she was.
I was VERY impressed with this first book from Starla Night, and I am eagerly looking forward to the next book in the series.
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.

He has to make a decision to what it will be. He knows who his soulmate is and the connection he has with Lucy will this lead him to making her his queen or will he find someone else in the water from his people.
Way too far from reality. What I'm trying to say is there was zero effort made to blend fantasy and reality. Meaning, all I could think Abt was what time is the federal government agency, and military armed forces going to show up and take all the gems by force, after first pretending they're open to free trade. Lol before they go in by force, take everything valuable, merk'd anything that gets in the way jail the beings to study and locate the power they'll try to copy after dissecting each and every one. Jus sayn, had the writer treated the story with the secret nature it deserves it would've been good. But she went to far out into fake lala land and for me it kinda messed up the experience for me. It's too fake. At least like with a Christina feehan book the Carpathians are still all fantasy but she knows she has no choice but to keep storylines consistently secretive. In order to continue and protect their race. She's realistic in the sense that humans will dismantle, dissect and destroy them all. She even incorporates some of her stories with this angle and its friggin scary and realistic. So for me this was a miss
Lucy is at an all time personal low. She is deeply in debt, her husband just divorced her because she can't have children and she has gained a lot of weight. She has one final hope to pull her life out of the toilet. She is going to run another expedition to secure rare Sea Opals. While on the water of the shore of Cancun, she finds the injured body of a man tangled in her anchor chain. She frees him and hauls his body onto the boat. To her surprise, he is still breathing. And what a man he is! His well-muscled naked body is covered in golden tattoos. Lucy is immediately attracted to him. (And really, what woman wouldn't be?) When the man comes to, he reveals himself to be Torun, a Merman and he claims Lucy as his bride. He just has to convince her that she should forsake the land and all she holds dear to join him in his sea castle. This is a new and different take on the shifter/paranormal romance story and I loved it. It is a well-written story that is leading into what I believe will be a great series. I requested an ARC of this book so that I could provide a review.
Throughout the whole book all we here from Lucy is that she is fat and can’t have children so she can’t be with the merman guy. She tells him she can’t give him what he wants, then he beats his chest and tells her she is his and of course she will have his children. Or “fry”, as he calls them, which was off putting. It just got really old. And nobody makes a big deal of this guy getting pulled out of the water and claiming he is going to make her his mermaid queen in his city under the sea. Every body’s just like, ok have fun. Seemed unrealistic to me even for pnr. And I don’t mind describing the heroine as curvy, but reading about her belly laying on the shelf and stuff like that was definitely not a turn on. The relationship lacked chemistry, the storyline was weak, and the world building could use some improvement. However, it kept me just interested enough to give the next one a try.
