This special edition bundle contains the first three books in the Veiled Dagger series.
Royal assassin, Rothar, is on a routine mission. Tasked with quietly eliminating a lecherous merchant with a penchant for young children, Rothar's blade strikes without hesitation.
But when more children go missing, Rothar digs deeper and discovers an insidious network that reaches high up into the echelons of nobility.
What started as a simple mission has become a dangerous quest for justice. Rothar must call upon all his skill to punish those responsible, and rescue the innocent before it's too late.
2.5 stars. I thought book three was the better of the first two. Heroic fantasy. Not a bad deviation from the more serious Robin Hobb "Edlerlings" series.
Well done Jon Kiln, I enjoyed reading this much more than the Blade Asunder series, though you still need a better proof reader. My only other complaint is the name of a horse. Stormbringer is and always will be a sentient black runesword which moans as it steals the souls of it's victims in order to feed it's wielder with unholy vitality. Read Michael Moorcock's Elric Saga if you don't know what I'm talking about.
The story was interesting, and kept my attention pretty well. From time to time there were issues with flow, but it was a fun read anyway. My biggest issue was that it had so many spelling and grammar errors that it detracted from the story occasionally that made me have to reread a sentence or two in order to get the appropriate meaning from them. Overall, a fun series.
I found this book to be very entertaining. I have already started book 4. As mentioned in previous reviews, proof reading may be something the publisher needs to pay more attention to, but this doesn't affect the over all enjoyment of the read. Classic good Vs evil type story.
A valiant man strives to protect a king and his kingdom while searching his heart for strength to see beyond his sword and dagger. While enjoying this tale, I couldn’t help but notice the need for closer editing - must be the Editor within speaking😊
Excellent books. Great story. Keep writing You wordhave some talent. I will keeping reading books from this author. Wow, another review written . What is with this 20 business. I ain’t got no time for that!
Awesome read with twists and turns as treachery abounds while trying to save the kingdom and lives of the people. Very disappointed in the loss of one certain minor but loved player.
Overall the story and characters were enjoyable. If the charecters had been fleshed out more I would have given it 5. As it is the story is still fun and fast paced.
The characters were nicely developed and the various stories served to develop characters more fully. Nice having all books together as opposed to having to wait on the publication of another to finish the story.
Tin roofs did'nt exist back in that 'time' so i tend to start looking for anomalies. In other words my attention span had been interrupted which isn't a good thing.
Plenty of action makes a good read. The plots are unpredictable without being overly complicated. Enough character development to make sense. Good author.
