I didn't really like the story. The illustrations were okay, but I wasn't a fan of how the mom would say we don't burp at the table. I mean, yeah, society considers it rude, but also sometimes you can't help it and you just excuse yourself. It's not done on purpose by most people. This book was published in 2014, but I feel it's a book from the '80s or '90s from the way it was written. Not a fan. It is however a Mother's Day book, but there are better ones out there.

While nothing to write home about, and certainly too long for my storytime group, I did like the message of this book. And while I still think the animals look more like mice than they do rabbits, the fact that the little ones worked so hard to learn to be well behaved to surprise their mom was sweet. And the fact that some of the behavior seems to have sunk in enough to stick is a mother's dream!

When I first saw this cover I thought, "What an adorable mouse!" It turns out, however, that the mouse is supposed to be a rabbit, and that is symptomatic of the problems in the entire book. The book looks good on the surface, but misses the mark entirely upon the reading of it.
