I just love this book! From the setting in the gorgeous Great Smoky Mountains to the 1940s timeframe and world of journalism, the author painted quite a detailed picture. As a former newspaper reporter who once got to cover another president’s visit, I found myself following right along on Jillian Spencer’s adventures! I couldn’t wait to see how it all played out, particularly the love story. I selfishly would love to catch up with these characters in the future. Eagerly awaiting another book fr ...more
A delightful book to read to cleanse the palette after reading suspense novels. The story is a prequel taking place in 1940 when Smokey Mountain National Park. The heroine of the book faces challenges in a 1940 era world, natural peril and romance. Nice descriptions of nature around them and the credit goes to God. A very good book and, as a bonus, the first chapter of the next book, Mountain of Peril is in the back of the book. I've already obtained it. Very recommended!
J. Carol Nemeth writes a lovely and historically accurate story with a feisty heroine and humble hero. You will enjoy the nice sibling rivalry she shares with her brother, as well as examples of how charitable all people should strive to be toward others. I recommend this good, short novella.
