So, what I love about Be-Ri Kang is that when this crazy love...square suddenly forms around her, she doesn't swoon or get indecisive about who she likes, she gets mad and flat out yells at them all to back off because she has no interest whatsoever in any of them! Ha! The end of this volume is sort of strange with Tsuyoshi's sort-of-but-not-really girlfriend from Japan just suddenly showing up to go to school there (eyes rolling), but I like Tsuyoshi's reaction to it (hesitant and a little weirded out), and how he's already started to grow up a little since the first volume.

This installment dragged a bit. My main issue with this installment is the fact that Tsuyoshi's ex-girlfriend, Erica, moves from Japan to Korea to be with him. Not only does it seem unlikely, but it's just sad that she would completely uproot her life to be with someone who doesn't want to be with her.

I also don't care for the Be-Ri/Mi-Hyuk/Tsuyoshi love triangle that seems to be forming. Be-Ri isn't interested in forming any kind of romantic relationship with them and Tsuyoshi isn't interested in a romantic relationship with Be-Ri either. Basically Mi-Hyuk is turning it into some sort of weird love triangle fueled solely by his own feelings.

I do like the developing friendship between Tsuyoshi and Be-Ri. I'm sure they'll eventually end up together, but even if they just become good friends I'd be satisfied. In fact I think this might be better if they don't end up together. Regardless, they're both having to overcome a lot of stereotypes about the other's culture, so it seems like they'd both grow from a relationship.

Yes, I am hooked on this story about a rather bad-tempered but creative Korean girl and her wealthy Japanese neighbor who can barely speak Korean and therein lies a lot of the problems, not to mention another boy at school who has decided she must be his girlfriend, which complicates matters even more, as she finds him to mostly be a nuisance.

Now I have to wait for v. 3, on order, to arrive at the library!

I read volume 1 when it first came out. I didn't like bratty Tsuyoshi enough to continue back then, but I kept the book because of the art. Now I'm re-reading my manga/manhwa to confirm I want to keep each them (spring cleaning). I almost didn't keep volume 1, but I saw only two series from the artist, so I kept the book again because of the art.

Based on Goodreads reviews for volume 2, I read it for the first time. I enjoyed volume 2 much more than volume 1! Volume 2 has the best continuing volume beginning, great art, more humor, and a more tolerable Tsuyoshi. There's even some page layouts that are a great reference for artists.

I'll continue to volume 3.

The author does a nice job writing the conversation misunderstandings that can happen between someone learning a language and a native speaker. In this case, Korean.
