Alison Uttley (17 December 1884 – 7 May 1976), née Alice Jane Taylor, was a prolific British writer of over 100 books. She is now best known for her children's series about Little Grey Rabbit, and Sam Pig.
This was the first Little Grey Rabbit book I ever read, and I think it was my favourite. The lovely atmospheric watercolours, and quaint phrasing, was deliciously cozey. It unfortunately induced in me a terrible craving for pancakes, and also impelled me to get a pet rabbit. Please note that Angora bunnies are worlds apart from Little Grey Rabbit. I particularly liked this edition of the series with the rough weave hardcovers. These are the kind of collectible childrens books one keeps for ever and ever.
