If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door. ~Milton Berle

There’s an old story about a man training his donkey. He takes a stick and whacks the donkey between the eyes. An observer, aghast at the cruelty, questions him. The response: “First, you have to get the donkey’s attention.”

How does a girl get attention from a man she once rejected? What will she use for a stick to hit him between the eyes?

Elizabeth Bennet chooses to create a Valentine to be surreptitiously delivered to her object. The del

Mr. Darcy's Valentine: A Pride and Prejudice Variation

This was a super enjoyable story. Unfortunately there was still the removal from Netherfield and the infamous Hunsford proposal, but after spending days at Pemberley during the summer with her Aunt and Uncle Gardiner, Elizabeth realizes that she loves Darcy. Bingley returns to Netherfield to pursue Jane after Darcy's confession. Darcy accompanies Bingley, but doesn't know what kind of reception he'll get from Elizabeth. At first all he does i

This story is not much of a story. The plot is simple. The writing, is luckily good. Here we have Elizabeth pining for Darcy after Jane and Bingley get engaged. She's concerned about how to tell him of her feelings. So, she gives him a valentine (perfectly plausible). Lydia being Lydia, finds it accidentally on the floor (before Darcy has read it) and reads it aloud to the entire dinner party (Bennetts and Bingley and Darcy). Of course her parents fail to stop her (and she receives no punishment ...more

This book was interesting in the initial premise, Elizabeth wanting to apologise to Darcy for her misunderstandings around him by giving him a Valentine's letter but I felt like it didn't quite turn out as it should have. I found Lizzy a little more short-sighted than she was in canon (though Lydia was perfect as the irresponsible younger sister who didn't understand completely what she was doing) and both she and Darcy seem to be just a touch out of step with each other. The unspoken rules of t ...more

Short and sweet

Quick, feel good read with a different resolution to ODC’s prior misunderstandings. Well written and heartfelt- much like Lizzy’s valentine.
