I received this as a Christmas gift from a relative. At first, I was a wee bit insulted and felt this was what my sibling and I always referred to as the "out of touch" gift. But my mother managed to talk me out of making a big deal about it. It was a quick read, nothing earth shattering and now it is being donated to the library.

I like books like this. Helpful hints for life in 1 1/2 page snippets. Some thoughts I liked:

- Become a life gourmet, develop a wide range of interest

- Success is not down the road. it can be precisely where you are on the road, right now, today.

- Interpret success as every day you pay attention to your inner life, eat reasonably, treat people well, be active,...

- Many people who get an inordinate amount of pleasrue out of food aren't getting nearly enough from life's other offerings.

- Make the best choice from those available.

- Don't use food to deal with stress.

- Think of life as a sensory smorgasbord. Give all the senses something to do.

- Learn to wait. Once you wait, you can do almost anything.

- Resign from the clean-your-plate club. Always leave something on your plate.

- HALT = Don't get too hungry, too angry, too lonely, too tired.

- When you build a body out of the healthiest food, environment, lifestyle and attitudes you know of, it's like moving into a mansion from a tar-paper shack.

Well, this book is best for those who have a strong spiritual side and those who believe in some sort of a higher power. Both of which, along with OA, are mentioned a lot. If you’re one of those people and have any food issues, I highly recommend it.

That someone is not I. Really, really not me. I had to fend off so much in the book to get to what was useful for me, and I did find a lot of good stuff amongst the stuff that I couldn’t swallow. Pun intended.

But I do really like the author. She has a personable style, and she obviously wrote the book to be helpful to others. It helped me that she’s vegetarian (maybe vegan?) and she does have a lot of insightful things to say.

This book was a gift from someone who is important to me, and was given in a caring and thoughtful manner. Because of this, I’m sure I got more from it than I otherwise would have, and I suspect I’ll again read the parts I found most useful at times when I think they’ll be most helpful again.

I liked the book overall, I thought that each mini chapter was easy to read and apply to current habits immediately. My only complaint would be that a fair amount of information seemed to be geared towards individuals that are significantly overweight or living with disordered eating. Being someone who does live a relatively healthy and active lifestyle not all the secrets applied to me (at this moment). I do recommend the book though, it never hurts to get a fresh outlook or approach to weight loss and healthy living :)

Great tips for being healthy not just physically but also emotionally and psychologically. It really emphasizes how they are all connected. I revisit these periodically to stay grounded and positive.

the chapters make for great daily meditations. I have brought this to the gym and out to dinner with me. when I am struggling I read a few pages and it reminds me of my "why." I rarely give 5 stars, this one is worthy of all of them.

I borrowed this book from the library and it was so good that I just ordered a copy so that I can refer to it whenever I want, or even read one of the 101 tips every day.

Great book to pick up and read a quick chapter on a regular basis. Read the ebook version but also have a hard copy to have accessible for that purpose.

A practical guide comprising short chapters of a couple of pages. Each chapter gives one succinct piece of advice. Much of it is focused on advice and ideas that could be useful for anyone - whether they have a weight problem, a stress problem, or no problem at all. Conversational and easy to read. No pretense or attempt at literary artistry, just good common sense.
Not an exciting read; a couple of chapters at a time is probably more fun and useful than racing through it. This book is best taken one bite at a time, taken first thing in the morning and repeated at bedtime.

This book had a lot of great suggestions, tips & tricks for weight loss and living a healthy lifestyle when it comes to food and exercise. I liked the short chapters and conversational tone. However, I didn't care for the authors "all you have to do is..." attitude in her advice.

I didn't finish this. The author assumed that fat was the enemy too much for my taste.
