Rate this book
Kill the monsters. Steal the treasure. Stab your buddy. Based on the immensely popular Steve Jackson card game, Munchkin comes to comics!

Stealing, lying, and backstabbing might not go over well in the real world, but in the world of Munchkin, anything goes! Join Spyke and Flower as they go to any lengths to get some loot. This includes (but is not limited to) outsmarting foes, learning kung fu, venturing into wonderland, and battling legendary monsters all in the name of stacking up that gold. Welcome to the world of fantasy roleplaying satire, with stories written by Sam Sykes (The City Stained Red), Andrew Hackard ( The Game), and newcomer Nicole Andelfinger, and illustrated by Ian McGinty (Adventure Time) and Len Peralta ( The Game). Based on the immensely popular card game, Munchkin Volume 6 collects issues #17-20.

Sam Sykes is the author of Tome Of The Undergates, a vast and sprawling story of adventure, demons, madness and carnage. Suspected by many to be at least tangentially related to most causes of human suffering, Sam Sykes is also a force to be reckoned with beyond literature.

At 25, Sykes is one of the younger authors to have arrived on the stage of literary fantasy. Tome Of The Undergates is his first book, published in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Holland, and Canada. He currently resides in the United States and is probably watching you read this right now.

I am saddened that this series is no longer being produced. I thought, with this issue being no exception, that this wonderful comic captured the spirit of the game wonderfully. The main characters, Spyke and Flower, owe no loyalty to anything other than loot. While they are bonny companions, put a cave full of treasure in front of their snoots and all bets are off. The stories are funny and tightly paced, without being offensive. (Unless you are a monster, then it sucks to be you!) I have the six collected volumes and these will be treasures I will come back to again and again!

The final Spyke, and Flower adventure! Kung Fu, Alice in Wonderland, the mystery of the gazebo, and speed dating are featured in this final episode of the series.

An enjoyable romp through the various themes taken on by Munchkin through the years is a great encounter with the game, and I sincerely hope it was able to bring more people to playing this rather comical, and light-hearted game.
