Without a doubt this was Madison Worthington's story all the way. I loved how the author developed his storyline and made him see his own 'worthiness'.
Now Sebastian was another story completely. He was an arse, a spoilt, petulant brat. He just never grew up. Wasted his life on a love that was never meant to be. Until of course he met Worthy Worthington. Yes, he was still an arse, but he begrudgingly grew on me.....
And even though I found the first few pages confusing (is it just me?

I'm proud of many things I've accomplished in my life, and now I can add to that list the dubious accomplishment of managing to actually make it seventy-fucking-two percent through this mess of a book.

What the fuck did I just read? And I'm not talking about missing out on all the world-building and secondary character backstories that I would have known if I'd read the series from which this book is a spin-off (and at this point you'd have to pay me actual real money to read the original

This book has two love stories: Madison and Sebastian, and Thanatos and Cody.

Madison and Sebastian.

Madison is a wolf shifter in the biggest wolf pack on Texas. He rose from nothing to the PA to Alpha Damien. But even with all this he still does not get the respect he deserves, and everybody takes him for granted. His self confidence is not as it should be for a young, vibrant, smart man, and it takes a beating when his mate, the one person who should love him for who he is, rejects him without

Review still stands.
On the reread I can’t believe the attitude of Damien. It astounds me that one of the alphas has to be a dick and make the smaller man feel worthless, usually it’s Kane but in this one Damien took over the mantle. At least Scott is strong enough to stand up to him. I felt for Madison with Damien’s reaction but it was also great to see his. Start to believe in himself.

Good start to new series

Good start to this new series, a Spin off from the cloverleah series. It w

Like most wolves, Madison has always dreamed of finding his mate. But when that mate turns out to be the immortal son of Death, who is still pining for his old lover, it seems that fate has a dark sense of humour.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book I've read by Oliver, and it is clearly stated that this new series is actually an offshoot of an established series, but can be read as a standalone.
I can say that is does read as a standalone-ish. It's easy
Personally I think this book was a major disappointment. It was readable so there’s that... but everything was just thrown about all crazy like with no effort to connect/complete the plot properly.

For starters, Sebastian was an ass and needed to eat more crow... lots more crow... and at the same time he was a ridiculous character. After all the hateful things he said he never really did, or followed through with anything. He didn’t even try... I’m used to instalove story. That’s what you usuall

The Gods!

I am so going to enjoy this series. Madison surprised me in so many ways. I'm happy that he didn't go running, to Sebastian the idiot. Once Sebastian got his head right, I loved how he went about getting his mate. Now Cody I wasn't so sure about him at first. With him leaving the way he did, I thought for a moment that he was a partner with the crazy man. But I know better now. Thanato unlike his son wanted his mate, and went after him. I felt so bad for Cody but I'm happy he didn't fi

I really wanted to like this but it was all over the place. I feel like some story lines didn't really get wrapped up (maybe they were in another book, but I didn't read the other series.) And Sebastian was really a douchnozzle to Madison for a long time. I don't think he redeemed himself. ...more

This book made me cry. Dear Gods, it's so... bad . Imagine every Hallmark second grade cheesy movie you very watched. This book is made of quotes from that list. The plot is frantic, one minute they met, the next the guy is kidnapped and the next he is home. This all happened in the first 20% of the book.

And don't even let me start on the club. I mean, the impression I got of werewolves in this universe is that they are either homophobes, subs or doms. No leeway of any kind, those are the c

I like the story and the characters. It felt different from the main series which is good since it's the start of a new one.

Always Enough: 4 stars
I love Death in all the stories he had taken part of. I hope to see him in others.

I can't get over how bad this book was. With the current rating of 4.22 I am clearly missing something that would make this book okey. I suspect that it's either the whole 'Cloverleah Pack' or the fact that most of the readers that got this far in the series just enjoy this kind of books? Either way, it completely didn't work for me. The characters were extremely unlikable and the plot didn't make much sense. Second star is for the Thanatos and Cody story which was at least bearable. ...more

I think this one got 2 stars because I just read a book that was even worse so I'm probably being generous. Not sure what I'm missing that this book has over a 4.0 rating? How? So I didn't read the series that this is a spinoff of - maybe that would help a little. Especially since there is NO world building in this book at all. I guess you are just supposed to know it from the previous series. I'm guessing most the characters in this series where from that series so maybe they had some depth in ...more

Seems the Fates have been busy lately

Sebastian is the son of Thanatos (Greek God of Death). Madison a wolf shifter and a sub is Damien's (pack Alpha) personal assistant.

Madison has always wanted to find his mate. Never feeling wanted or respected. Unfortunately Sebastian makes it clear the two will never be mated, because his heart belongs to another who died many centuries prior. If Sebastian were to take a mate he would need to be a warrior, which he says Madison is not.

As usually I loved it. Ms. Oliver's books are some of my favorites. I have read ever book she has written at least 4 times and I am expecting this one to stack up with the rest of them and maybe even pass them. It is well written with well developed characters. This book is a spin off from her Cloverleah Pack series. This book's timeline is parallel with On The Brink Book 12 of that series. The start of this book follows allow with that book just told from a different character's POV. I would fi ...more

This is the first book of Lisa Oliver that I have read. And now I find myself wanting to The whole CloverLeah pack series.

I think this book shows that opposites really do go together, and never judge the strength of a person by the way they look.

I loved all of the characters even when Sebastian was a royal pain in the butt, lol. Each character was unique and it is easy to know who is talking/thinking, even when their name is not mentioned.

Lisa has a really good ability to build a unique world, t

Loved all four MCs

I have enjoyed this authors books for years. The Cloverleah Pack books were my first introduction to the Mates and the perfect matches picked for them.
I love wolf pack books that don't involve Omega mpreg and don't understand why most other authors have to go in that direction.
I just wish there were some included in Kindle Unlimited as it can get expensive buying all the books that average 5 bucks a pop. I would have had a great binge reading session if that were the case.

I am so glad for Madison's story. It was obvious he was an over worked unpaid lonely guy. Damian really ricked me off in this book. I swear the older these guys are, the more childish and spoiled they tend to act. Thanks seems to be the most level headed one. I am so happy for Cody though I wish he could have some confirmation concerning Joel. That broke my heart. I can't wait to read the next one. Makes you wonder what's coming when you think of all the unique true mates that have happened in t ...more

Both of the main characters were so annoying. If someone treated me the way sebastian treated Madison they wouldn't be in my life for long, that's for sure. On top of the completely unlikable and juvenile characters, the writing was so bad. Everyone is roaring, talking like an angsty teen instead of a supposedly thousands of years old demigod, and flying off the handle at the drop of a hat. I barely finished this one. The ONLY reason I gave it a single star is because I have to in order to le

A good read, interesting fresh ideas

I liked the author and have read most of the first Cloverleah pack novels that this book linked in with some of them and the San Antonio pack was reason enough to commence this series and I was not disappointed. Well done to the author, easy to read as always with a few twists and turns keeping the reader happy. If you like shifter novels these are all good reads.

And 5 stars for Madison'! He really deserved a great fated mate and I love that he stood up for himself while being the fierce, smart wolf he's always been.
And I loved that we got not only Sebastian as Madison's mate, but we also get to see Sebastians father Thanatos (Death) mated with sweet Cody.
It's going to be fun to see Poseidon getting himself a mate and giving up threesomes.

I loved Madison but struggled with his story. I like the idea of the hellhounds. I did enjoy Cody's story. These are quick stories without a lot of depth but typically fun and easy. This one just dragged a little for me, but it wasn't bad fit this type of story. ...more

This one, not as much.
Just too whiny! Can ya say WHINY.!?
From submissive wolf to ultra strong, flip the switch.
Glad I read it, but didn't like it.

Good book

Good book, Love the dynamics between the the characters, but would like more fictional harm before everything resolved. It was all there, expecting, with the mate saving him. I would have liked to see the repercussions.
Two Nerds With Words
I came into the book wondering if I’d missed out on part of the series. It took me a while to catch up and make sense of the characters and the world. But I persevered and I’m pleased I did.
Interesting characters, some solid drama, and also some lovely character development.
An enjoyable read.
