Graceling meets The Bone Season in the long-awaited final installment of the Vinyl Trilogy.

Two weeks have passed since the revolution fell. Two weeks since Ronja and Roark fled to the island nation of Tovaire before Maxwell could use her voice as a weapon. Their friends are imprisoned, their comrades radio silent. All the while the new Conductor prepares his unwitting army for a conquest that will ravage the world.

With little left but her rage and her voice, Ronja craves vengeance on the puppeteer that enslaved her city and murdered her friend. Her only hope of returning to Revinia lies in the Kev Fairla, the rogue Tovairin army currently engaged in a battle with northern aggressors. The impossible task weighs heavy on her shoulders, and an unexpected blood connection begins to unravel everything she thought she knew.

The final installment in the bestselling Vinyl Trilogy, Siren is a story of revenge, rebirth, love, and the limitless power of music.

Update (4/12): Well, I just read Siren for the first time without editing, mostly to torture myself in case I found any typos. I found three. Bonus points if you can find them. Just kidding, pls be nice. Anyway — I am pretty proud of this books. I hope it is a satisfying conclusion to this trilogy. Siren comes out 5/1!

Original “Review”:

Well, I have officially read Siren three times, so I suppose I can mark it as Read. Five stars for the blood, sweat, tears, and song I put into this book. I really hope you guys like it. Thank you all so much for all your support over the years. I adore all of you. May your song guide you home.

"She was everything and she was nothing. She was the Siren. She was song itself."

This review is going to be very hard to right since tears are blocking my vision.

I don't know where to begin. This book blew my expectations. It was so much better than what I thought. I'm not exaggerating when I say this, but this has to be one of the best books I've read. Not only is this book phenomenal, this whole series is fucking phenomenal.

My favorite thing about this book (and series in generally) are the characters. Not only did I feel connected to Ronja and the gang, but I felt like I was apart of the gang itself. These characters grow on you. You want them to survive, to be happy, to do good. You follow them on their journeys and hope they make it to the other side. The characters become apart of you. The characters in this series are probably some of the most incredibly well written and developed characters. They are some of the most memorable ones out there.

The plot follows the gang scattered and separated from each other with the same goal: take down Maxwell and the New Music. Now usually, I'm not big on multiple POVs. If it's more than two, I start to get the names and plots mixed up. But with Siren , it was different. I enjoyed the multiple POVs, it really kept the story together. The plot itself was amazing. It was fast-paced and there was never a dull moment. Every chapter was well-written with the right amount of action and emotion. The last couple chapters I was sobbing, it was amazing.

This trilogy truly means alot to me. I haven't felt this passionate about a book in so long. The characters will stay with me for a long time. This story will stay with me for a long time. I'm sad that it's over, but I'm so happy to have took a chance on it. I laughed, I cried, I smiled. And it was worth it.

Please do yourself a favor by reading this series. It is something that you won't regret.

May your song guide you home.

This is the final installment of the Vinyl trilogy, so I'm not going to give a synopsis due to spoilers... but if you know anything about me, you know that this is my favourite trilogy and I WOULD DIE FOR IT AND MY BABY ANGEL UNICORNS.

SOPHIA HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!! My heart has been ripped out and replaced 60 million times, I am in a glass case of emotions...I can't believe it's over... I've been waiting for this book for over a year now and it was everything I wanted and more. Sophia is such a talented writer, effortlessly stringing her story along to instantly hook you in. It is so easy to picture everything happening in the story while reading and you don't want to put the book down until its over.

Sophia does such an incredible job making you love these characters. Half the time I wanted to throw the book across the room because I was so worried about my babies. I am so invested in every character it is ridiculous. I loved seeing my old favourites, as well as getting to know some new ones! I loved the different points of view the story is told from and being able to see into different characters perspectives.

THE EPILOGUE IS AMAZING AND IT MADE ME SO HAPPY AND YA'LL NEED TO READ THIS TRILOGY - OKAY I AM DONE TALKING ABOUT THIS NOW (no I'm not, I will be raving about this trilogy as always...) I finished the book and just had to lay there for a good 20 minutes before I could move again... This series is so underrated and I HIGHLY recommend you give it a try if you have the chance.

Thank you for writing my favourite books Sophia, I can't wait to see what you come up with next!

I did it. I finished this series. What I‘m I gonna do now?

I loved this series. It was one epic adventure! Sophia created such a fantastic world, one that is powered by music and that is such a unique thing! I loved the characters and their bonds, no toxic realtionships whatsoever and this crew just got into my heart. It felt like I was fighting with them.
I loved the icelandic/piraty vibes and the shifting of the places and the different povs.
Terra really grew on me, Evie and Iris are just goals (that ending was perfect), and I will never stop shipping Ronja and Roark. I'm just thankful that there were no love triangles or unneeded drama.

Thank you so much for writing this series, Sophia!

What a finale! I was sent this book to review, but ultimately I am passionate about this series because I adore Sophia and her writing. The Vinyl series is incredibly unique because not only is it dystopian, but it has elements of steampunk and fantasy that run through its core— and this book creates a more dramatic scope than the other two combined. Siren amps up our story to a new level as it gives us more information about this world that Sophia has created. Not only does it highlight new cultures and people, but it also touches on many more fantasy elements. Most dystopian novels tend to stay with one continent, but Sophia did an excellent job of creating a true world rather than just one dying country. She has somehow managed to change the shape of dystopian novels, even though I always thought dystopians were pretty cookie-cutter!

I think Vinyl remains my favorite of the series just because it's such a strong first book, but this one came out as a close second - it was very well done! One of my favorite things about this series is Sophia's strong voice. The writing style is somehow both fast-paced and detailed, and it's so unlike anything I've ever read before. I never thought a dystopian could feel so much like a fantasy novel, but somehow Sophia did that! Siren feels like a mixture between Elise Kova's The Alchemists of Loom, Laini Taylor's Dreams of Gods and Monsters, and Leigh Bardugo's Ruin and Rising. It is a hard-hitting conclusion to a breath-taking series about friendship, healing, and self-discovery, and its strong world-building helps amplify a rich cast of characters. I loved seeing the characters evolve in this final piece of the story. Each one underwent some intense growth over the course of this series, and it's really impressive for a 20-something year old writer.

Overall, even though I had a few issues with this finale (too much kissing, and the ending was just a little bit too convenient), I really loved where Sophia took this story and I was so impressed with how she fleshed out the world and her characters. I am so excited to see where she goes next as she continues to write fiction!

Wow! What an ending! I was sent this book for review but honestly : I would have bought it either way. Vinyl was such a breath-taking first book - one of my favorite first books actually. And now, in the third book we finally get to dive even deeper into this captivating world. I mean, I love a good dystopian novel but throw some steampunk elements into it and I'm ready to sell my soul to the devil for more. It is fast paced yet packed with vivid details, so there is never a dull moment. You get sucked into this world, see it in all its beauty and ugliness. The characters are deep and real. It made me so happy to see them evolve so much during the course of these three books. There is no other way but to come to care about them. You suffer, cheer and love with them.
Sophia's writing makes this a magical experience and I am sad to say goodbye. The writing, the world... They're so unique, so very unlike anything I have read before.
Even though I had a few (very few) issues with this last book, like the ending or the fluff-factor (honestly, it's not that bad...so you can totally disregard this criticism), I'll give it 4.75 Stars.
I'm excited to see what Sophia will come up with next. She's become one of my favorite authors and this is one of my favorite trilogies.

Little story : I usually really DON'T like YA books with female protagonists...I'm female and I like to read about strong women, but what counts as a strong girl in YA isn't how I would define them. They tend to be whiny, do stupid things and are quite immature, thus I can't see why people call them rolemodels. But Sophia has managed to captivate me. Ronja has her struggles and bad moments but she's still strong and determined. She never made me roll my eyes or sigh in annoyance and that means a lot coming from me.

OK. I will shut up now but one last thing : READ. THIS. TRILOGY. NOW.

this book was the perfect ending to an amazing trilogy!

content warnings: ptsd, mention of war, violence, amputation, death, mention of rape

this review contains some major and minor spoilers from this book and this series.

while this book, and series, took a completely surprising turn, i loved it. the progression of the plot from book one to this book was crazy, and so interesting. the new settings were described so detailed and this story was so well paced. it was a little harder to get into this, as i wasn’t sure how this book would go forward, but after not so long i was hooked! and that ending was so action packed! the epilogue was so pure and perfect and i loved it so much! i loved the plot line of the singers and the music and this is one of the most unique fantasy dystopian books i’ve read!

ronja is one of the coolest characters! her power that was introduced is so unique and creative. i also really love roark! his character was so interesting to read about. ronja and roark’s relationship felt so real and the progression of their relationship was so sweet. i love evie and iris, as a couple and as individuals. henry, terra, and the rest of the anthem are such interesting and complex characters. i really enjoyed that we got to read chapters from so many characters point of view.

i’m so glad i read this trilogy! it is truly so unique and i loved everything about it! please read this! it’s sad how underrated and unknown this book is.

I probably should have paced myself and read more slowly, but I just needed to know how everything worked out. I don't feel like I can say much without being too spoiler-y, however, I will say that I found this a satisfying conclusion!

Bravo! There are elements of this story that surprised me, characters making unexpected decisions that still felt true to character, and an ending that made me happy. Overall I liked this series!

From my review of book 1:
While the theme and timing of this novel compare to other YA dystopian works, the central concept of the story is really unusual. Any issues I had with the narrative are overruled by the ingenuity of the author in coming up with this story.

Noting that I am writing this after finishing the entire series, I want to make it clear for readers like me (who may have scoffed at the central idea) that by the end of the story arc it does make sense.

I’m glad I pushed through the parts I enjoyed less to be able to see the entire story wrap up in the end.

I just finished this and, oh my! Since the beginning I was hooked and I felt every single thing the characters were feeling. Sophia Elaine's writing style teleports you to another dimension and makes you feel as if you were another character in her story. I loved to see how all the characters had a development, and more precisely, that there was a story developement. The climax of the book was AWESOME, okay? I couldn't stop reading and I was sitting on the edge of my seat, almost bitting my nails because it was THAT intense. Ohhhh, and of course we have the mesmerizing (and evil) plot twists Sophia does. Siren just made me feel so many things- happiness, anger, sadness, etc. So many things happen in this one that just broke my heart, but I must say this was my favorite book out of the three. It was so beautifully written that I just loved every single page because of how amazing it felt. Ladies and gents, this is the kind of closure you give to a trilogy. One of my all-time favorite trilogies indeed!

it’s over 😭

When I started reading the Vinyl trilogy last week I had no idea how close to my heart it would become so quickly. I had a really long, busy week and this series quickly became my safe space / my escape when I needed it. I keep finding myself flipping through the books to reread my favorite parts (especially Radio, my favorite!) and just being so happy.

Siren in particular: I really loved this one also!!!! I was so stressed the whole time, I love every single character and I was so worried for them. I do wish that I had seen more friend group scenes (no spoilers but iykyk), because I love the dynamic of the Anthemite family so much. I also wish Roark had gotten more character development in this one- he supported Ronja so much and was essential to her, and I love him with my whole heart, but he seemed more peripheral to the story and I think he could have had a bigger role.

But otherwise this was just as wonderful as the others!!! I see a reread in my future because I just loved these so muc
Maybe the stars are alive after all✨

What a cute story. Nothing like I was expecting it to be at all! I was thinking it was going to be dark and twisted but in reality it was just a action packed story. There really wasn’t a moment where I was bored or wanted to skip reading. Ronja & Roark had an amazing story line and I enjoyed their budding relationship from the beginning to the end. The series left me feeling happy and complete. With all that said the last thing left to say is, “May your song guide you home”.

She’s done it!! Sophia has finished this series just as fantastically as she started it. Months and months later I was so easily drawn back into the lives of the characters I’ve come to love and devoured this book in a day. I’m sad to say goodbye to this world, but so excited to read anything Sophia writes in the future.

I thoroughly enjoyed the trilogy of Vinyl, Radio and Siren. Even though it is aimed at Young Adult, there is enough in here for adults to enjoy.

I found Siren particularly hard to put down.

The idea behind the story is intriguing, the world building is very good and the characters do grow and change. Characters are really well developed and the author’s talent ensures you DO care about what happens to them.

This is a very clever dystopian future novel, it has entertained and fascinated me. It would be spectacular as a movie if they could portray the music element somehow.

Oops, it took me a month, but here’s a short little (spoiler free) review!!
Siren was the third and final book in one of my all time favorite trilogies. It was filled with suspense and action-packed - everything I expected it to be. The ending was such a satisfying end to the series and I loved the last scene of it!! Sophia never fails to make me feel every emotion when reading her books. I highly recommend this!!

Sophia did it again. It always amaze me how perfectly she can entangle a war scenario with the explosion of powerful feelings. That way, in this world created from its beginning to its end, every character has a body and a soul that get impressed into the mind of the reader but not because of that is less real. This trilogy leave aside very few aspect of the human lives both commons and dystopics. Family, war, love, torture, music, thought control, magic, grief, friendship and so much more. Sophia created a story simultaneously different from our experience of the world and yet so much relatable for the feelings and emotions so typically human shared by the characters. The evocative language used it's just another example of how the pages bring you to identify with the storyline and share tears over tears with Ronya, Roark, Henry, Terra, Evie, Iris, Ito and all the Anthemite for the third time. If you enjoyed other books such as This Savage Song or 1984, you should read Vinyl, Radio and Siren too. If you like to read distopic urban fantasy trilogies, you should read these books. There are actually limited cases where I won't suggest you to read them because indie published doesn't mean less worth that classical published and Sophia has earned her spot in my personal list of favourite authors long ago. May your song guide you home!

I picked up Vinyl to read as a part of @where.fiction.meets.reality monthly posting of #whereFRIENDSmeetsreality January’s prompt was to pick up a first book in a series. And boy did I choose well ... I couldn’t not read the other two after finishing the first one! Ronja and Roark are wonderful characters, as are Terra, Evie, Ito, Iris, Henry and sooo many others.
What a great story of hope and fighting for the future.
I love the end of Siren too ... it ties everything up really nicely, no guessing or cliffhanger for the reader as to what happens next.
If you enjoyed The Divergent series, Maze Runner and The Hunger Games you won’t be disappointed with this intriguing clever dystopian young adult world created by Sophia Elaine Hanson.

The amount of feelings I have for this trilogy as a whole is a LOT. So many things tore my heart apart. Mended it. Stepped on it. Hugged it back together. And the process repeated. I’m so in love with this world, the characters, and the lessons in them. I have tattoo ideas cause of these books. I have ridiculously high standards now because of these books. My heart is so full and I just want everyone to read these books. No matter how many times I SOBBED.

This series could be classified into many different genres, so no matter what type of books you like most you can surely find an element of it in this trilogy. With the first book I got what I was expecting, a dystopian with steampunk elements and romance. With this final book it sometimes felt more like a epic fantasy novel. I have never read any dystopian like this one. It’s different from every other book I’ve read in the genre in all the best of ways.

With pretty much every other dystopian the answers you get don’t add up, in this case all the answers to my questions are satisfying. Throughout the entire trilogy everything makes sense, there’s no obvious plot holes, or stupid explanations about why the world is the way it is. The world building is great, layers are added with each book,t there is a whole world that gets explored rather than just one continent like in many other books.

I'm always a fan of books about groups of people, this one has a wonderful diverse cast of characters to root for. I liked literally all of them, and loved the banter between them, if you like books with squads of lovable sassy people you'll like this. I was impressed by the beautiful writing, Sophia is a wonderful storyteller, she has a lovely, strong and distinctive writing style. This whole trilogy has been a delight to read, more so than I expected, each book is compelling and hard to put down. These books are vastly underrated they deserve a lot more attention.

Surprised to the end

This is a bitter sweet review. The conclusion of the trilogy was both rewarding and heart wrenching. This story has not just been about struggle and survival, but also about love and loss. With a larger number of characters than most authors manage to make you care about the ending of the story shows how important all their relationships are.

Definitely a good conclusion to one of my favorite book series in a while. The only reason I'm rating this lower than the previous ones was that I had a hard time getting motivated to finish it. This night have been because I was pretty tired while reading it and I was trying to get through it fast to read another book.

I will say I started this with a sour feeling as I didn't like the sudden ending revelation of book 2. Siren made up for that. What a fantastic end to trilogy. I only wish we had had a bit more Ito and a bit more Terra as their parts of the story really important.
