Ethan West had it all, great parents, a younger sister who he adored, an amazing girlfriend, best friend, and a college football scholarship.
That was until his entire world turned upside down when his family was brutally murdered.
Fast forward five years and Ethan is the best demon hunter alive, he will stop at nothing to find the demon that killed his parents even if it kills him.
I actually gave this 3.5 stars but as we all know Goodreads doesn't do half stars.
I was genuinely surprised by how much I liked this book. When it fast forwards years ahead I though maybe I would be missing out on important things that happened in Ethan's life. Things that led up to where he is now. That was not the case. I was very impressed by that. I liked Ethan's character. Despite his gruesome past he turned out to be very strong and courageous. Which again I was impressed. Typically we see characters become whiny and down right annoying. Not here :)
I gave this a 3.5 because there were some parts of the book that did not flow well together. Some inconsistencies that made it a little difficult to follow. Over all I did really enjoy the book.
Great job L.A. Shine. Thank you for the opportunity to read this.
WOOHOO! I devoured this book in one sitting! Ethan's journey from college-bound golden boy to demon-hunting avenger had me hooked. The brutal murder of his family is a gut-wrenching twist that sets him on a path of vengeance. I'm obsessed with the demon-hunting world you've created - the action is non-stop and the stakes are high! Can't wait for the next installment to see Ethan's quest for justice unfold!
It's a different type of book and I love it for that purpose. Not something I would normally pick on my own but glad I did! I really hope this will be series because I want to know and go on more hunts. As a teacher I could see some of the moments perfectly and made for me to become more involved. Definitely recommend!
This book has potential to be good. I enjoyed the story the author was trying to tell, but had a hard time reading the book.
Words were constantly misspelled. There were punctuation and general grammatical errors throughout the book (run on sentences, capitalization, lack of commas). The use of double descriptors got redundant. For example, describing someone’s hair as chestnut brown several times in a book seems excessive. The lack of vocabulary overall was disappointing. The same words were used over and over such as “said” or “very.” Incorrect use of your/you’re, there/their/they’re, to/too throughout the book. It was a difficult read overall due to grammar. I had to keep re-reading parts because couldn’t grasp meaning due to misspellings, comma errors, or run on sentences. There were also incorrect words all together, such as “infant of” instead of “in front of” The author did not start a new paragraph when a character was speaking. They occasionally dropped quotation marks at the end of one of the characters speaking lines, so I didn’t know when the character had actually stopped talking. Once I got past all of the basic writing errors, I found the story to be ok. Predictable, but I liked it.
