So, I have to admit, short stories/novellas are somewhat of a double-edged sword for me. Typically I either find myself struggling to connect with the characters because of the shortened timeline or I’m left wanting more because the author has managed to grab my heart. No shocker here, Cover of Night fell into the latter category.

Laura Griffin, or rather Ethan and Karly, will demand your attention. Like the two predecessors in the Alpha Crew series, this is a high-octane, teetering on the edge

I'm absolutely loving this series! The suspense is thrilling and the attraction between the main characters are hot. I love the writing. Very mature storyline and mature characters. The only thing I don't like is how abrupt the author ends these novellas. They feel like a full story until the very end. It's the only reason I don't give a full 5 stars. I would love it if the author gave us a few more pages once the couple make the decision to be a couple. They would be 5+ stars if we go

Karly’s career has taken a positive, upward direction when she’s to cover the US Ambassador’s trip to Thailand at a paradise-like resort. It soon turns into a nightmare when terrorists invade and take over. Karly manages to escape their clutches and proves to be a useful source of information and help for the Navy SEAL Team sent in for reconnaissance and rescue. Ethan, one of the SEAL operatives, is struck by Karly’s resourcefulness, and in amongst the chaos of the situation they share

I am so happy to see a new book in this series. SEALs. I just love SEALs, especially when they are doing in fiction what I hope they are doing in real life: kicking Tango ass and kissing the pretty girl. Hot romance and killer action/suspense give this novella has just what it needs and nothing more.

This was a very well done novella. I was really excited to win a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway because I have been wanting to try Laura Griffin's writing for some time. I discovered that I really enjoy her work. This story really did a lot in just a few pages and left me feeling very satisfied in the end.

Thank you Mindy Lou Who for hooking me up with Laura Griffin’s Alpha Crew! This is my first book by this author but OMG it was awesome!

Ethan and his team come across Karly on a mission. She is struggling to help a group of hostages, as well as a new friend, to escape from a terrorist group. But she’s got to survive long enough to do so first. When she’s discovered by Ethan she is tossed into the center of a top secret reconnaissance mission that quickly turns from fact gathering to rescue. Unfo

Cover of Night was a fun, sexy romantic suspense book that was a quick and enjoyable read.

Journalist Karly Bonham is on her first assignment overseas where she’s to write a piece on the new US ambassador to Thailand. On the final day of her trip, the resort island she’s staying at is taken over by terrorists, but Karly manages to get a message of warning to the outside. Soon elite SEAL team Alpha Crew, including Navy SEAL Ethan Dunn, arrive on the island for a rescue mission. Ethan is

This is the 3rd installment of the Alpha Crew series, but can also be read as a standalone story. This is also the 4th book that I have read from this author this year and love the adrenaline, intensity and fast pace of her stories.

The Alpha Crew is a group of Navy Seals who do their job to protect and serve their country. They are in a resort area to try to save lives as there is a hostage situation involving terrorist. Ethan is one of the Seals who finds Karly, a journalist, who was at the res

Okay, this is a well written story, different from the 'Tracers' series, but a cut above your average SEAL story. The summary only scratches the surface of the storyline. It ends far too quickly, however, and could have used more depth.

My issue here is the same as with the first two "books" of this series. This was not a full length book, it was yet another 128 page novella. I believe the publisher should be upfront that they are not giving the reader full length books.

Once again, a solid 4 st

I thought that the most interesting aspect of this book was the way that the two lead characters met. Karly Farnham is a journalist visiting a resort in Thailand where the new Ambassador to that country is staying. She is on assignment to interview him. When the resort is taken over by terrorists, some of the tourists are killed and the rest taken hostage. Karly is out on a dive boat when the attack occurs, giving her the opportunity to escape and hide. She is found hours later by Ethan Dunn, a ...more

Laura Griffin is one of my top favorite romantic suspense authors. She's one of the few I've read who can write both sides of the plot well. And even when I don't connect to the story or plot, I always enjoy the book because her writing is so solid and engaging. The reason this book didn't work as well for me was likely due in part to it being a novella. It's difficult to write a romance into a novella unless the characters previously knew each other, which these two did not. And truthfully, I w ...more

I enjoyed this book. Karly and Ethan meet under intense circumstances, and share a connection. And, I loved that while that connection was acknowledged, it really was never inappropriate or to such a degree where I felt that it didn't make sense that the events would occur, no sex against the wall during the gun fights or other silliness that just made no sense.

I liked their relationship, and the idea that it was a one night stand, at first. And t

This story is too short. I wanted more. A great story and wonderful romance.
Laura Griffin’s ‘Alpha Crew’ series has been a very different read so far from her ‘Tracers’ series. The books in there are short, action-packed, with significant time lapses between several chapters and in many ways, a very, very distilled and disappointing version of a military/paramilitary romantic suspense novel.

The short length of the book does the whole story a disservice. I’ve no doubts about Griffin’s writing to begin with, nor with her ability to handle intricate plot lines and elabora

Ok so if you like military romance, especially SEALs, you'll really like this one. This is the third installment of Alpha Crew and a being the complete action buff that I am with some romance thrown in this was right up my alley. The only reason I didn't rate this five stars was because I caught on to a key component of this thriller fairly early on. It's still thrilling and a crazy ride from beginning to end and so worth the time to read it!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I totally enjoyed this romantic suspense novella which was basically fast paced exciting action with a love at first sight romance. It had a good plot. (view spoiler) It's only drawback was that it was too short. Journalist Karly's crowd is attacked by terrorists and Navy SEAL Ethan comes to the rescue.

Another great story by Laura Griffin!

The Alpha Crew's new romantic couple is Ethan Dunn and Karly Bonham.

Karly is a journalist who flew to Thailand to interview the well-liked and desirable United States ambassador. She has developed a good rapport with him and his daughter. Everything changes when a group of terrorists attacks them. Karly is trying to keep herself alive when help arrives in the form of the Alpha Crew. She immediately feels a connection with Ethan, one of its members.

I wish I had been told this was a novellas series. I wouldn't have been nearly as disappointed with the pace of the story and better able to write a review.
As a reader I would have like this to be a full length novel because of the different story lines involved. I still have questions what happened to the other people in the story? What was the terrorist end game? The author gives readers action scenes as well as strong female lead. The story felt unfinished leaving readers

Once again, a SEAL team faces danger and puts their own lives on the line to save other people from harm. The Alpha Crew series is about a group of men who are tough and ready to tackle any risks, and when a member encounters a particular woman, his protective instincts are often all about her. I have always enjoyed reading about these courageous individuals and the women who come to love them, and this novella series has plenty of suspense and romance to keep me entertained. Fast-paced and thrilling, Cover of Night quickly jumped into its suspense with fully formed characters and brought the intensity from the get-go. Even as a novella, both Ethan and Karly were strong, present characters that felt fleshed out even without any back story or build-up, and then Griffin brought the two together in a live-or-die situation and allowed them the space to catch a foothold with one another.

Outside of the action, Griffin didn’t shy away from the effects of a traumatic situa

My only complaint about this third installment in Laura Griffin's Alpha Crew is that it ended too soon. The action sequence in the first part of the story was intense and reminiscent of the best of Brockmann's Troubleshooters but Griffin makes her team all her own. The romance is hot and happens over a short period of time but given how they met (during a terrorist attack) it felt ok to me. The glimpse into Karl's work as a journalist was interesting and I liked that they both lived in the same ...more
