Now I really really want to reread Air Awakens T_T

I really enjoyed this last installment of the Golden Guard trilogy.
Daniel was one of my absolute favorites in the main series and I'm glad he got his own book, which focuses on how his friendship with Craig was born and how they both landed a spot in Baldair's Guard.

If you've read Air Awakens, you might think that they've always been friends, but that's far from the truth. At the beginning of this book, Craig low-key hates him and Daniel is too
"Of course I do. I have an excellent sense of direction." Daniel did not have an excellent sense of direction.

I really liked this last book of the prequel trilogy Golden Guard to the series Air Awakens. Craig and Daniel were a good duo, The Farmer's War was basically a tale about brotherhood at war. Also, I prefer Raylynn in this one than in Book 2.

3/5 stars. The plot isn't mindblowing, but the characters are very entertaining and likeable (the opposite of The Wicked King by Holly Black, which

"There was really only one thing that drove a man or woman to do something as extreme as fight in a war: love. Be it for the love of another, the memory of a love lost, a rare yet possibly love of country, or more often than not, the most practical kind of love—love of gold."

What a great ending to this prequel trilogy. I loved this story about how Craig and Daniel joined the Golden Guard. Bigger surprise to me though was Raylynn. In the series she is always presented as Baldair's significant other. This is the first time I saw a more fierce side to her that would have me understand how Baldair would be so attracted to her and make her defending Baldair, in the end, make even more sense.

So, I'm going to make a guess that this is about Daniel? Regardless of who it is about, I'm stoked.

This one wasn't as great as the other 2 books but it still was a fun and enjoyable read. I really do enjoy Daniel and Craig, I just wish this book would have done a little more with the War aspect. I liked how this one ended during book 1 of the Air Awakens series. The Golden Guards were the highlight of the original series and I am very happy with this trilogy and how it turned out. I loved how each book focused on each of the members. I enjoyed how it explored different parts of the world. It ...more

I will have a series review of the Golden Guard trilogy up on Books and Ladders on November 29th! It'll be a year since they released and that I read them, but they still hold such a special place in my heart. You can get an omnibus of the series on Amazon!

I think what I liked about this one so much is that in the Air Awakens series we lose track of Craig and focus mainly on Daniel, so I enjoyed getting to see more of Craig and how he and Daniel became good friends in this one. I liked seeing

I've always been interested to know how the bromance between Daniel and Craig came about so I was quite looking forward to this book! From hating each other to being loyal and friends, quite similar to how Baldair and Raylynn relationship first formed. A few spelling mistakes that put me off while reading so docked a star. After finishing this prequel trilogy, I really want to re-read Air Awakens but I don't think my heart is ready for a re-brake T_T

This was a good, quick, fun adventure ride. I enjoyed seeing the natural, believable development of Daniel and Craig's friendship. The plot hit all the important beats and was a fun journey, even when I was holding my breath. I enjoyed seeing the story come full circle to the end of Air Awakens. That was so satisfying. The book was rife with errors, but it did not take much away from it. I lament Tree end of this series as it makes the end of the (known) adventures in this world. I still hold ...more

4 Stars.

Another fun and enlightening installment in the Golden Guard Trilogy and world of Air Awakens overall. I've always loved Daniel as a character and it was fun to see how Daniel and Craig hit it off as friends. The story was fast, interesting and an all round fascinating read. I really loved how this book leads straight into stuff that was happening in Air Awakens and makes me want to read the main series all over again! :)

I can't recommend this trilogy enough for Air Awakens fans looking

"Bittersweet" has been my adjective to describe all three of the "Golden Guard" novellas and it holds true for "The Farmer's War." This may be my favorite of the three due to my love of sweet, loyal Daniel and the expansion of Craig's character, but knowing the outcome of this friendship had me close to tears the entire time.

It was wonderful to see their friendship and loyalties develop from literally trying to kill each other (fricken dang, Craig) to saving each other's lives. It built on the

The last story in the Golden Guard trilogy, this one is told in Craig and Daniel's POVs and tells you how they met and come to be part of the Golden Guard. It's the shortest of the three novellas, but I really liked this one. If you've read the original Air Awakens series, you know a bit of Daniel already as Vhalla's friend— that he's an easterner like her and that he helps her during the war. Craig was a character I didn't really know much of at all from the original series. I knew that he and ...more

After months of dragging it out, I finally made it to the end of The Farmer’s War, thus ending The Golden Guard Trilogy. This whole series was everything I could have hoped for. Emo Aldrik, teenage golden trio shenanigans, Jax snark, Daniel being a precious bean, Raylynn’s backstory confirming she is a badass and THE LOVE OF BALDAIR’S LIFE ??? What more could a girl want!? Along with being a fun ride from beginning to end, it truly adds a whole new layer of depth to the characters in Air ...more

Having already read the original Air Awakens books, I LOVED the golden guard members before I opened the first book. I read all 3 books in four days. It was like coming home! I loved that we got this unique glimpse into the golden guard, something I was hungry for while reading the other books. all of the members are amazing, and learning their story in full was just so perfect ( I guess I had a little higher hopes for Daniels story, but I am still very happy that I got to read more about him!) ...more

More like a 2.5, but since I love this world let’s say 3 stars.

This book hardly seemed necessary to me. I liked Daniel in the Air Awakens series, but Craig I can't really remember as he never seemed like a character in his own right; he just seemed like Daniel's friend. It was therefore great to actually see Craig have some personality and come into his own.
The epilogue, however, did kinda break me (view spoiler)

A short, fun read about two of the Golden Guard. The story was a pretty easy-going read, with Daniel and Craig struggling to work together to achieve their dreams. Their banter is terrific––perfect for anyone who likes some bromance in their books. There was also a hefty dose of action and intensity at the end. I really enjoyed this little novella trilogy that dove deeper into the lives of the beloved Golden Guard, and definitely recommend it to long time fans and readers looking for an ...more

This was so well written and you must read this if you loved the Air Awakens series!! This prequel just gives you stunningly intricate details that Ms. Kove executes so brilliantly! I loved Daniel and Craig and seeing how their friendship was solidified and how they rose to be noticed by Baldair was truly awesome. I can certainly see myself re-reading these books many times over. I can't wait to see what new things will click! I think the cover is very imaginative.

"What place was ever truly safe in war?"

I have to admit, the story line was not something exceptional but it was an entertaining read. Entertaining and bittersweet at the same time. Daniel was one of my favorite characters in Air Awakens series and I really liked reading a bit more about him and the start of his friendship with Craig.

Conclusion, this trilogy was a good companion to Air Awakens series.

Like the rest of the series, this book was great !
I have to say they are not as Amazing as Air Awakens of course but it's a nice addition to the series and I am really happy I have them all.

If, like me, you are in love with Baldair and his Golden Guard, then just rad those books !!!
If you are, like me an unconditional fan of Elise Kova, do not think and read them as well !

This is my least favorite of the 3 books in this trilogy, probably because Craig is such a jerk for most of the book.

I also thought there were some points where things were confused. Daniel led them off course because he didn't really know how to navigate. Then, Craig is leading them while they're being chased, but it's Daniel who recognizes where they are. That felt backwards.

Alittle slow moving but I still adored this book. I could not stop smiling during the epilogue that was my absolute favorite part, I knew exactly where it was going and now having the history behind it and what led to that moment is just amazing. Also I am noticing the repetition of a certain mysterious woman and I need her details!!! That aside I loved this book so much!

Raylynne is now a member of Baldair’s Golden Guard as they engage in the war with the North. She sends two soldiers competing for her favour to carry a message to Baldair. In their travel they come to understand one another as they face a number of difficulties both with their personalities and their environment. This book is a prelude to the Air Awakens series.

Craig and Daniel

I’m betting money that Jax wrote nonsense in that letter assigned to Baldair, which makes Craig and Daniels’ mission hilarious because of the challenges they ended up facing! #TeamDaniel
I enjoyed seeing how and what made up the Golden Guard!

I missed Daniel more than I realized. He is such a sweet guy! I honestly don't remember liking Craig in the other books but he was decent by the end of this one. I want to re-read Air Awakens now. I am not ready to leave this world!!
