It was probably one of the shortest book I have ever read, which is not surprising since the book was originally published as an e-book. It was quite humorous and captivating, especially in the beginning of the book. I particularly like how the author inserted some links to videos in the book for us to view by ourselves, though I could imagine a few people who would not like this option. One thing that makes this book different from a lot of other motivational book is that it actually lists down the action you need to carry to make the change you want in building your self-confidence.

"SELF-CONFIDENCE BOOM:" Is a very intriguing book about Self-Confidence that I found interesting. I will say that I knew of many of the items in the book but also learned some new things. I would recommend to anyone interested building up their Self-Confidence or helping someone else. I won this great book on GoodReads and like I do with most my wins I will be paying it forward by giving my win either to a friend or library to enjoy.

The very first thing that got me going when it comes to “Self-Confidence Boom’’ is its title and the cover. I mean when you put a bomb on a book cover that means that you really want to tell something to your readers, right? And this book has a lot of things to tell us and to teach us that is for sure.
The book was written by a Hungarian writer George Zelina and inside of his book Zelina wants to explain to us that every person can develop higher level of self-esteem. Self-esteem is something that we all need in every aspect of our lives: marriage, business, relationships of all kinds, etc. The book opens with the author’s description of his early life and his hitting “rock bottom’’. One can only rise after he hits the bottom and Zelina really gave his 110% to show us and to explain to us that it is possible to achieve greatness in life, regardless of how “low’’ we currently are. This is actually what I love about this book most: the author really gave his best and it is visible on almost every page of his book that what he wants to do is to encourage his readers and to show us that we can do it. It is like the entire book is telling us- “come on, fight, work, it is not over yet’’ and I like it because of that. It is a wonderful book. Five stars.

‘A day merely survived is no cause for celebration’ – Og Mandino

Hungarian author George Zelina is a certified life coach. He writes self-help books on self-confidence, motivation, getting stuck in life and the way out of it, primarily in Hungarian but now well translated by Csilla Harmath and illustrated by his wife, Nora. They live in Budapest. SELF-HELP CONFIDENCE BOOM has been so successful that a motivation group based on the message has been formed!

As George state, ‘Self-Confidence Boom is about a young man’s adversity, overcoming his self-esteem problems while developing and mastering different simple self-confidence increasing techniques, to make them part of his everyday life. Each technique works regardless of gender or age.’ In his Foreword we gain the sense that George is a friend, a man who cares and wants to share his success. ‘Based on my own experience I can tell you that self-confidence can be built the same way you build a sandcastle on the beach: quickly with infantile enthusiasm and with visible, impressive results. It also means we need to be aware of under which circumstances we build our castle so that an unexpected tide cannot tear down our hard work. We should take care of it. If it is needed we should put our arms around it and hold on to it because there will be many times when it wants to collapse and whether it remains the same or not, will stand or fall by You only. Almost everyone faces a period in their lives at least once (if not more) when they cannot find their way. They would like to be happy but don’t know how to get there. I don’t want to talk without rhyme or reason, I don’t want to seem like someone who doesn’t practice what he preaches, therefore I am going to analyze how someone can get to the point where they become self-confident, through my own story. Not long ago I was battling with excess weight and my self-confidence was equal to zero.
etc’

George addresses the importance of building self confidence by grouping his instructions and help into the following categories - People who activate and deactivate you, Positive and negative examples, Self-awareness, I-awareness, Let’s hit the road!, Goals and their importance, Family bonds, Keep your ear to the ground, Gloomy days, The last of the heroes, Humor has it, One list to rule them all, and A new man’s diary.

Throughout this very accessible book George uses quotations from famous people that reinforce his thoughts, references to websites and Facebook to aid the reader, and manages to keep the entire book in a one-on-one basis, securing our attention and trust. George writes so well and shares his own journey to keep us connected that by the end of the book we want to meet him in person. But then as George would probably prefer, take the time to look in the mirror and see the new self-confident and happy person you have become!

As a person with somewhat a lack of self-confidence among other mundane and earthly things, this books gives a brief step by step method on how to come out of your safety zone and notice that there are indeed better things in life to experience and try out.

I'd like to note and suggest the lessening of the author's life experiences, rather than help, it makes the matter a little gloomy as not everyone would want to read through someone's "down times" in life. Instead, those moments in the book must be directed at helping the reader cope and be encouraged that there's more to life and living freely.

These notes aside that I have mentioned, this book is good for anyone who needs a headstart in gaining back their ideals and positivity.

Self-esteem is so easy to lose and so difficult to regain. Children are not born with low self-esteem but as they proceed through life they receive knocks to their image of themselves. I remember being first cut down to size by a teacher when I was five years old – until then I had sailed through life basking in the warmth and security of my family’s rosy view of me. It came as quite a shock to me at five and I don’t think I ever fully recovered. George Zelina shares many personal moments from his battle with low self-esteem as he shows us how to implement techniques to boost your self-confidence and therefore become a more fulfilled, happy person.

I bought this book because I was tired of the same old, repetitive 'you can do it' chant you find everywhere else with no actual guide on overcoming the actual blocks within the psyche that got me down, and I'm glad I did. George not only tells you that you are capable, but actually shows you how to do it every day. Thank you very much for this, and thank you for sharing your own experiences because I have had similar difficulties in my life. I already feel a boost of self confidence and I'm definitely going to try to become a better me.

"Where was I going?"

Women fall in love with your eyes but in reality, they like people who are confident in themselves. Just do it, and feel the power of confidence and yes, you can have this power all the time. This book is more of an overall generalization of self-confidence instead of adding up into it.

I was impressed by “Self-confidence Boom” as it openly and honestly exposed the very low self-esteem of a man. Yes both men and women suffer from low self-esteem but to have a man express his painful moments – in black and white – well that really demands attention. George Zelina’s intention of this book was certainly not to get sympathy points but to use it as a teaching tool, to help people strengthen their belief in themselves.
This book uses the usual motivational quotes as well as it directs you to short videos and websites that broadens your understanding and tempts you to try and improve your self-esteem. I found the telling of George’s life story to be a very powerful part of this book and really a strong motivational tool.

George Zelina explains and teaches the concept of self-confidence meditation, in Self-Confidence Boom. It is an easy skill to learn, and very beneficial. George did not use it during one of his darker weeks and regretted the time wasted while he slumped in sadness and dejection.
George use to live his life merely surviving one day at a time. He didn’t feel he needed to keep himself physically fit if he had a girlfriend by his side, but his self worth was wrapped around what others thought of him. Obviously if you had a girlfriend you must be worth something, but when he found himself alone his self confidence wavered.
I enjoyed learning about self-healing of the soul, and the advantages of distancing yourself during a challenge to get a bigger picture of what will be the consequences of the decisions made through the conflict. These techniques were my favorite; you may find your life changed with one of the other dozen techniques.

Setting a goal to ourselves, no matter how strong our determination is to accomplish that goal, it’s still hard to fight against our fears.
What I love the most about this book is how personal can be, it’s not some guide filled with scientific facts about how to improve your self-esteem, it’s a story about a guy struggling to with his self-esteem, in my opinion at least, I can easily identify with him, especially in high school, in some aspects was my hardest time since I remember, because of how hard was for me to talk and make friends.
It took me several hours to read it and I did it in one go, I’m not ashamed, it’s just so good and humble, it doesn’t try to make a big deal about something I think everyone had been through, and the answer it’s right in front of us, it’s our own cheating heart that makes us cry, but also the only thing that makes us strong and confident.
