When the body of archeologist William Stewart is found floating in the Mantanzas Bay, Robert Robson finds himself caught up in a web of hideous secrets, deceit, and murder woven by the lure of the tinaja and its' terrifying power. At first, his empirical mind refuses to believe the old Indian story, but as he is drawn deeper into Stewart's past, each ghastly revelation points to an unimaginable power and moves him dangerously close to the line that separates right from wrong, fact from myth... and now, that power may be within his grasp.
I just finished another book by Randy Cribbs. I am very pleased. The first I read of his (Ghosts: another summer in the old town)was very good but felt more geared to teen age readers. When I started this one I was not sure if it would follow the same feel. It did not.......it is a well written, intelligent mystery that has a more mature feel to it. Though it could easily be enjoyed by teens as well as adults. It is very much a page turner......I found myself wanting to know what was going to happen next. Always a good sign for a mystery book. :-) Liked the little twist at the end.......leaves you going hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Actually the whole story leaves you thinking..........what if.......... I loved that it had historical aspects as well. Could easily be considered historical fiction. I highly recommend this book to everyone. Great read!!
10 out of 10 stars. Short book but complete---author didn't waste words or add too much unnecessary junk. Story is very interesting and takes place in one of the most awesome cities in the United States.
A mysterious vessel can extend life is found in 1600 Florida by Natives who eventually realize it must be guarded through generations. Jump to today with the death of an archeologist from questionable cause. A novelist is struggling for a story when he gets into the old Indian mystery. I did not expect to like this but I did. The writeup on the back is grandiose. 3.5 but not a 4.
