4 Seeing What's Right Before Your Eyes Stars

I am going to make this short and sweet. This is an addictive series because it is such an easy read. We have the theme of a calendar of First Responders being done to raise funds for Harry's House. This will be a safe haven for the kids of Marietta Montana. All of the books revolve around these Responders coming to terms with participating in this...and for some, "Dropping Trou" or taking off their shirts is more difficult than others.
This tale focuses on two people who have a solid history... Keely Andersen has known Jonah Clark forever.... and it all started when she was just 10. He was the same age as her older brother and never treated her as if she was annoying or a pain. He seemed to get her love for the Earth and how she was passionate about science....and when he called her Science Girl, it didn't sting like when she was teased at school... When he said it, it was done with warmth and caring.
Jonah became her Real Life Hero when he saved her from freezing out in the elements.
Keely was a senior in high school and had won a prodigious scholarship the whole town was talking about...Jonah was back for a few months waiting to start Flight School after graduating from West Point.
Keely had become stranded on one of the mountains in a freak April snowstorm and called 911 for help. She knew better than to be out alone and was thinking this was the end. Jonah got the call and found her unconscious. He took her to a nearby cave, warmed her up and literally saved her. When Keely woke up and saw Jonah, her childhood crush went into overdrive. Jonah, unaware of any crush was just really happy she was going to be ok... he had always like Keely and thought she was the smartest person he knew.
Fast Forward to Present- Keely has been traveling the world working with professional organizations which focus on the interest of Science and Earth. The latest project Keely is doing is in her hometown, Marietta. She will be here for a year to measure and analyze the movements of the area...meaning the many earthquakes that happen all the time in the region. She is thrilled to be home... she has missed it so....She truly is a product of Marietta and has been longing to return for some time.
As she is driving her brother's old truck to the town, of course, it would just up and die leaving her stranded. Keely calls her mom to ask for Dad to come. Never one to wait patiently, Keely breaks the major rule of being stranded on a highway-NEVER GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE.
As she hears the noise of a someone pulling up and not her dad calling out to her, she is kicking herself for not being in the locked truck...Luckily, she hears a man asking if she is ok and then a questioning...Science Girl?
Yup, Jonah to the rescue again! Only this time, it is a fully Man Jonah with muscles on muscles and a smile across a face to love forever...
Jonah sees Keely and is stunned by the beauty she has become. He has always felt a kinship with her, her love of the planet and wanting to know everything. Only this time he is feeling a little more than that... and his body is sending him the messages. But his brain is screaming Danger Danger Will Robinson... she is off limits. Best Friend's little sis...No Go...
These two embark on a journey of rediscovery and a realization of how they were meant to be. There is more to the story but I will let you enjoy it with fresh eyes.
As I said earlier, this series is addictive in how all of the many authors have worked the main theme of the Calendar and Charity perfectly...some more than others...but all with consistency. We are given the flavor of Marietta, have reoccurring characters woven throughout and always a HEA for the main couple.

Jeannie Moon's contribution to the Men of Marietta series is my favourite so far. I'm a complete sucker for the older brother's best friend trope, and when you add in the fact that the heroine is an academic and the hero a pilot, then you'll get absolutely no grumbles from over here.
I loved Jonah and Keely together. With a fantastic chemistry, the build-up between them was perfect with just the right amount of push/pull, and when they take their relationship to the next level they create some serious heat together. And I quickly found myself cheering them on because it's clear they were made for one another.
"...it felt like they were on the cusp of something incredible. Something that could change both their lives."
If it weren't for the injection of drama heading toward the finish line--a little left field considering how the story had played out and coming across as created purely to cause conflict before the HEA, this could have easily been a five star read. Nevertheless these little niggles didn't hamper my enjoyment, I love the Clark family and hope we'll see more from them in the future and Daring the Pilot is a fantastic addition to this series. I'm looking forward to seeing what Kaylie Newell brings to the table in Falling for the Ranger.

4.5 - "Just like old times..." Stars!
We return to Montana for the third book in the Men of Marietta series; Daring the Pilot. Best friends little sister is a trope I love to bits, so it wasn’t a struggle to settle in with Jonah Clark’s story.
Jeannie Moon stuck to tried and tested tropes with this book, and the story was all the stronger for it. Jonah and Keely haven’t seen each other in ten years and upon her return to town and his first meeting with her after their time apart, it is clear to him that the geeky Science Girl he once knew is now all grown up, and whereas her teen crush on her brothers best friend wasn't reciprocated, the attraction is fully mutual now.

I liked the fact that the drama was well paced and not overplayed in this one, the excuses for Jonah’s reluctance to appear in the calendar seemed a little weak to me, but to be honest it was the story playing out between him and Keely that I was more interested in anyway, so it wasn’t a major problem in the scheme of things.

"…Big trouble."
Another easy-read that I pretty much devoured in one sitting, this series is turning into an absolute winner from Tule. Kaylie Newell’s offering Falling for the Ranger is up next and I cannot wait to read Todd Harris’ story when it releases in a couple of weeks.

The blurb sold me with the tried and true little sister and older brother’s friend trope. But that was the only thing that was cliche about this read.
I loved Jonah, he was a bad ass with a heart of gold and a real alpha. No man whore jerk who has hang ups and takes it out on the h. He was a man who didn’t need to belittle the h (or any woman) to feel like a man. Seriously, this guy is what all book boyfriends should be molded from.
Keely was a really strong h. She was smart, funny and I loved that she wasn’t the cliched virginal heroine. She wasn’t naive or innocent or tstl. She wasn’t perfect but she owned up to her mistakes and I loved how much I loved these two together!
What I didn't like/hated about it: Their first and only fight came completely out of left field and I wasn’t sure why Keely was that upset about it. It seemed so small of an issue to be blown so out of proportion.
It was resolved in the end and they both own up to their part in the misunderstanding but I was still left confused.
Memorable Moments: I love corny sugary sweet declarations of love and OTT marriage proposals and Jonah & Keely know just what to say to melt me into a puddle of goo. Their ending scene together was too cute! 🙌
Would I recommend? Yes, I loved this author’s easy style and her characters were genuinely good hearted people with a sweet comfy romance and just the right amount of heat. I wouldn’t mind reading Gavin’s story and I curious about Gabe too!

This is a brilliant addition to the Marietta stories, I really enjoyed reading it :) It is the third story in the 'Men of Marietta' series which follows on from the 'Bachelor Bake-Off' series, however I don't think you need to have read any of the earlier books to really appreciate this one. The key elements for this new series are the hunky first responders – cowboys, firefighters, medics, lawmen, pilots, etc – who are to pose for a calendar to raise money to help fund the development of Harry’s house, a community driven project to honour Harry who was tragically killed whilst trying to help an elderly couple. The project is to develop a safe place for children to go before and after school, a place where they can have support, activities and so much more whenever they need it.
The first responder in this story is Jonah Clark, a pilot for the Search and Rescue Team, who grew up in the area before leaving to join the military where he was an army helicopter pilot which involved several traumatic tours of duty in Afghanistan. As a child and teen he was often at the home of the Andersen's where his best friend lived and sister lived. The sister was Keely, a very bright but younger than the two boys but she was sometimes picked on for her intelligence - but the bullies always learnt to leave her alone as Jonah always kept an eye on her to protect her. She's also been away from Marietta to study so Jonah is amazed to discover she's the person he finds stranded by the roadside. It is a decade since they saw each other and she's now all grown up and, to Jonah, irresistible! She's had a crush on Jonah since her teens and it is stronger than ever now they're both adults, their attraction is mutual, their chemistry volatile. Should they give their love a chance or strive to resist?
Jonah is a very reluctant member of the men to be photographed for the calendar and is torn by his desire to help raise the funds needed and his preference for avoiding publicity. As Keely and Jonah reconnect, their memories, experiences and prior knowledge of each other all shine through building their connections. There are still plenty of twists and turns to make this a highly entertaining read, packed with humour, turmoil and romance together with a mysterious person up on the mountain! I have no hesitation in highly recommending this and the other books in the series!

And people who has trouble with forcing the men to wax their chest hair, and how I’d feel if a woman was pressured to do it.
Umm..actually they ARE pressured to do it and are expected to as well, how many supermodels or even everyday model pose unwaxed?
Until you have eliminated a situation for females, DO NOT ask me to answer how I would feel and DO NOT expect me to feel bad for men WHILE women are still enduring it.
Yes, not everyone likes their men waxed, but a lot of women do, and that’s what goes on a photo shoot and that’s what sells. First you stop any sexualisation of women, then ask for people to stop sexualising men.

The Men of Marietta series, like most of Tule's Marietta books, comprises standalone stories, which are, well, great. It's easy as a reader, to dip in and out of this charming fictional town, get sweetened up on a particular pairing as and when you wish. I've enjoyed most of the books Marietta no matter the author and 'Daring the Pilot' is another cute but sweet read of the brother's best friend that never happened until it did.
Having known each other for many years before a lengthy career separation of a decade, their visits back home had somehow always made them miss each other - Jonah in between his deployments and Keely in between her travel and research - until their paths converge once again this time around. And like Eliza Doolittle, Keely Anderson's smart-geek act has become brilliant geek-chic, outdoorsy, artless and near irresistible, and it's giving Jonah is having a hard time in keeping his hands off her.
Mostly, the story loped on as Jonah and Keely found themselves integrating into the small-town community, as characters (probably from previous books) wove in and out of their lives.It isn't sufficiently explained why Jonah suddenly saw Keely as a woman rather than just a best friend's sister, though I would have been happier with a concrete, believable explanation. I liked the chemistry between Keely/Jonah but was less thrilled about the virgin/experienced man trope though, even though neither denied their feelings as they hurtled headlong into this attraction that turned into much more. There's a little talk about double standards between men and women, though not enough to start a pro-feminist treatise...which really isn't what the story is about anyway.
I found myself enjoying this read up until the turn at the end where some out-of-character moments made it go awry, as though conflict was created for the sake of dislodging the notion of a smooth-sailing HEA and bring about the grovelling moment until the actual resolution arrived...in a rushed and abrupt way. It didn't exactly detail the whole experience for me, but I'd certainly hoped for a different ending and a more realistic conclusion that didn't quite involve a hurried wedding because of an unplanned pregnancy.
That said, 'Daring the Pilot' (the title seems like a complete misnomer) is nonetheless a quick but entertaining read, good for a few hours of distraction, as Marietta is always wont to do.

Sigh this book was just terrible. I honestly have nothing positive to say about it.
Keely Andersen hasn’t been home since she left for college touring the world to see all she could and learn all she could. She’s always been an outcast, but she’s been happy or so she thought. Enter her love interest from years back Jonah Clark. Jonah begins to see Kelly as a woman and not just a kid and starts to fall for her.
Ugh I seriously cannot even. This book was terrible. Keely an intelligent independent woman is a moron. She has unprotected sex and decides to say; “whatever happens happens” even though she has no job. She goes into the wilderness by herself even though she’s almost died numerous times out there by herself. Seriously you’re in your late twenties barely, it’s not that hard to have everything and not regret it. This book just made me feel like if you’re a woman who wants more than being a baby machine then you give up everything. I hated that. Jonah was boring as heck and I just couldn’t stand this book.
Keely Andersen hasn’t been home since she left for college touring the world to see all she could and learn all she could. She’s always been an outcast, but she’s been happy or so she thought. Enter her love interest from years back Jonah Clark. Jonah begins to see Kelly as a woman and not just a kid and starts to fall for her.
Ugh I seriously cannot even. This book was terrible. Keely an intelligent independent woman is a moron. She has unprotected sex and decides to say; “whatever happens happens” even though she has no job. She goes into the wilderness by herself even though she’s almost died numerous times out there by herself. The third book on the “Men of Marietta” series (Tule Publishing) is another lovely story with two complex, strong and believable characters, set in the charming Montana town. The hero, Jonah, is this great guy, supportive, encouraging, kind and considerate, who is terribly afraid of waxing. The heroine, Keely, is a “science girl”, with some insecurities, and she’s a great person too. Still, I thought her attitude by the end was a bit far-fetched.
I loved the way Keely and Jonah transitioned from friends to lovers, how they know each other so well and how they turn the attraction and chemistry into something more.
I also enjoyed meeting characters from the previous stories, I’m really loving this series.

Great story. Some of the book would have flowed better if the previous books had been read. The majority of it can be read as a standalone though.

Jeannie Moon offers up another fantastic small town romance in Daring the Pilot. Saved by her brother’s best friend ten years before after getting caught in a freak snowstorm in the woods near her Montana home, Keely Andersen never forgot how safe she felt in Jonah Clark’s arms, back in town to complete her research for her doctorate Keely is once again rescued by Jonah when her truck breaks down on the way into town, and finds that being near Jonah gives her all kinds of thoughts but she is sure he still sees her as his friend’s kid sister. I loved the slow burn of this romance, but what I loved more is how much these two admired one another for their accomplishments and for the people they’d become. While there was no denying the chemistry between them, it was the friendship, the trust, and the mutual admiration that made their relationship stand out. From quiet moments spent talking, to hikes in the woods for research, to sensual sexy moments; Daring the Pilot was simply a well written and thoroughly entertaining romance.

Keely harbored feelings for Jonah even when she wasn’t sure what those feelings were, but as he was quite a bit older than her it never went anywhere and Jonah felt protective of her because of her brother, but that didn’t stop him from noticing she had grown into a beautiful woman. I loved that Jonah appreciated Keely’s love of science made her who she was and he wasn’t afraid to ask her questions or try to understand her world. While Jonah didn’t like that Keely saw him as a hero, he accepted her praise because he realized that if he hadn’t saved her all those years ago he might not have survived the loss of her in his life. I loved the closeness they felt to one another the minute the reconnected, but liked that they didn’t rush into anything and really got to know one another as the adults they are now. I adored Jonah’s family, but Keely’s family grated on my nerves a bit with the way they treated her like a young child especially give the fact that she had traveled all over by herself for years.
Daring the Pilot was sweet, sensual, and with enough tension to make the story interesting. If you love small town romance then you don’t want to miss this one from Jeannie Moon!

“Daring The Pilot” was a sweet read that kept my attention (mostly) until the last page. While it was a bit cliche at times and easy to guess the plot at others the characters warmed my heart and their bumbling made me smile.
I loved Keely’s character and found her endearing and charming while also a good example for women in science. She was whip smart but not cocky. I loved how connected she was with her community and her parents while also forging her independence. I did find that her childhood illness used as a motivator for parental control was a bit odd since Keely had been traveling the world for many years before she made her way back home. You would think that her parents would see her dating a man she’s known her whole life as a safer route than world travel. It didn’t make a lot of sense that they would disapprove of that after so many years of Keely proving she can handle herself. This weird part of the story was off-putting and I found myself pulled out of the story.
Jonah is a mans man for sure. He’s done his fair share of traveling but unlike Keely his venue was a lot more dangerous. I liked him but didn’t love him. I feel like his character needs a lot more work to bring the reader more to his side. After finishing the book I felt like I should of known him better than I did.
A big part of what I don’t like about the story is Keely’s virginity against Jonah’s experience. I don’t like that Keely is presented on one side as this very worldly woman and on the other side is presented as this naive woman sexually. This was another part of the story that felt very unauthentic and I was once again jolted from the story.
I think Moon should take a step back and take a good long look at how she is presenting women.

I struggled with this one, it seemed to take forever for me to get through it, and I’m not entirely sure why. I love Marietta, I like the set up of this series and I loved Keely’s passion for rocks – and yet, somehow, it completely failed to grab me.
Keely seems to be a nice person, as is Jonah, and at times their chemistry was sizzling. I enjoyed most of the first half, actually, as they slowly circled in towards one another. Yes, there was an element of best-friend’s-sister trope, but it wasn’t really important past the first few meetings. Keely is young and attractive, Jonah is brooding and handsome, they’re both free and mostly unencumbered and seem like a good match.
And yet… There were a few things that got to me. Two of which happened around the halfway mark, when Keely and Jonah trek off into the woods and she starts to give him a hard time about not wanting to strip for the calendar, as well as prying briefly into his past. Since I’m pretty sure there are more than twelve first responders in Marietta, I can’t understand why everyone was forcing Jonah to do something he clearly wasn’t comfortable with. Express disappointment and move onto someone else. If the guy doesn’t want to strip, he shouldn’t be forced to. I certainly didn’t hear Keely offering to join him or anything.
As for her prying, he tells her in stark terms exactly why he came home, and she huffily tells him that if he doesn’t want to tell her why, then fine, and proceeds to give him the silent treatment like a petulant child. He told her. What he didn’t tell her was all the horrible details or how bad it made him feel. Which is definitely his prerogative. But she still sulks – and then never mentions it again.
My main problem with all of this was it seemed really out of character for Keely, was exceedingly childish and then proceeded to have absolutely no affect on what followed. Foolish drama for the sake of drama. However, she does something incredibly similar towards the end, so maybe it wasn’t so out of character after all. For someone so smart, she is irritatingly brainless at certain emotional moments.
Then there was the big continuity issue. In the first book, Charlie the photographer has to chase Jonah all over the place before he finally packs her into his helicopter and flies them somewhere remote so he can get the photo shoot done in private. In the second book, her sister Emily arrives and helps her with the layout of the calendar after all the photos have been taken. In this book Jonah’s shoot happens in front of a bunch of people – including Emily, who helps with the shoot. I know all of these books are written by different people, but surely someone should be keeping an eye on the internal continuity, especially concerning characters who aren’t anywhere near Montana at certain important moments. Not everyone will care about this, I know, but continuity errors distract me and throw me out of the story, so I’d rather they weren’t there.
Throw in the sudden weird and baffling behaviour of Keely’s family, her own complete overreaction to a medical moment and the almost creepy way Jonah seems to revere Keely’s innocent outlook on the world, put her on a pedestal, keep quiet on things he has no reason not to share and ignore her over something that his entire personality indicates he would care about, and it’s safe to say this book didn’t work too well for me.
Most of the story is typical, enjoyable Marietta fare, but the main dramatic moments seemed to get blown entirely out of proportion and usually relied on someone acting completely out of character in order to ramp up the drama and angst. Which didn’t endear any of them to me in the slightest.
All in all, this is probably more about me than the book, but I found it sadly disappointing. I’m still looking forward to reading the next in the series, though.

I ended up skimming through the second half of this book. It opened with the far-too overused ‘successful woman returning home after too many years breaks down a few miles from home only to be rescued by her childhood friend who has grown into a sexy hunk’. And that’s about it really. There was virtually no conflict or tension, other than people bullying the afore-mentioned hunk into stripping off for a nekkid calendar photo.
Excuse me?? Let’s put that into context.
How would you respond if you heard about a group of guys pestering a girl to pose topless for photos? (Come on, its for charity, everyone else is doing it, you'll be letting the whole group down, are you a wimp, what's the matter with you..... etc etc etc) Hopefully you would be appalled. Why difference is there to a guy being bullied for not wanting to do it?
And what the hell was it with all the ‘waxing’ talk?? Not every woman likes her men hairless. It was more bullying - again, how would readers feel if it was a woman being coerced into shaving her head by a group of men.
Daring the Pilot? No. Bullying the Pilot. Jonah made it very clear he was uncomfortable with the idea of posing and yet NO ONE stopped trying to make him do it.
I am sick of stories where women seem to think it’s acceptable to humiliate and bully men.
The writing was stilted and clunky, the characters shallow and unformed and some of the dialogue creaked. There seemed to be no explanation of why Keely had come home and there was a distinctly weird account at the beginning that was never really developed. Keely had been sick when she was just a toddler and the best she could figure, her mother never got over it.
I was expecting that ‘childhood sickness’ to play some major part in the rest of the story but it just petered out apart from a later couple of sentences.
Jonah was one of those men who gets a more or less constant erection, Keely was one of those women who can’t make up her mind and acts like a 14 yr old. Once they had got together in bed the story turned into a sex-fest and lost any credibility for me.
I don’t think I will revisit Marietta. I don't actually know if Jonah had his chest waxed and posed for the photographer. I hope he didn't. I hope he finally managed to grow some balls, gave them the finger and told them where to shove their calendar and their bullying tactics.

Keely is a 28 year old geologist back in her hometown while working on her doctoral dissertation when her old truck breaks down on the side of the road. She's rescued by none other than Jonah Clark, her older brother's sexy, one time best friend, on whom she used to have a huge crush. Jonah is a former Army pilot, and now a pilot for the local Search and Rescue unit, so rescuing is in his blood. Well, they don't handle it very well, but thankfully Keely is strong and she puts them in their place and allows herself and Jonah the space they need to deal with their evolving relationship.
I really like Jonah and Keely. He's kind, protective and alpha without being over the top about it. She's smart and independent and doesn't allow anyone to push her around. She reacts badly toward the end after she's been in an accident and she finds out Jonah has gone behind her back in relaying some information to his brother (the town doctor), but she eventually gets over it. Their chemistry is hot, and I like how Jonah allows her to explore her newfound sexuality and confidence. Seeing them fall in love is sweet, and the small town feel of Daring the Pilot isn't so overwhelming in the way that some small town romances can be.

Keely Anderson has always been considered a science nerd, as there was no one smarter than her while growing up. That didn't stop her from having a secret crush on her brother's best friend, as he was her hero. When she graduated she left to do great things, and travel the world making scientific discoveries. Now 10 years later, she's on her way home, when her truck breaks down, and as fate would have it, her childhood hero, Jonah Clark, saves her again. She didn't know that he was back home now after leaving the Army as a helicopter pilot. Jonah is in shock at how well Keely has grown up, but he does everything to keep her at arms length, since she's his friend's sister. I really liked the blurb to this story, but it was so much more than I imagined, and I couldn't get enough. I fell in love with both Keely, and Jonah quickly, not to mention the little town that they grew up in. Jeannie Moon has a talented writing style that caught my attention from the very beginning, and held it to the end. Her well placed humor had me laughing, as the town was filled with so many colorful secondaries. The flammable chemistry between Keely, and Jonah, finally exploded into FIERY HOT sexy scene goodness that no pair of panties will be safe from. I would LOVE to hear more from these two, plus more of the town's hot men hopefully in the very near future! Bottom line, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Daring the Pilot TO ALL!

The on going theme of Marietta, Montana...the genius concept Tule Publishing created to be written for several different series with different author contributing for each series...has provided numerous stories that I have enjoyed tremendously. This story has turned out to be one of my favorites so far. The characters' personalities are so rich and dynamic that they truly come to life in my minds eye. The stories are completely believable with an underlying thread of one town coming together for a cause to memorialize one of their own.
Jonah and Keely are a couple who resonated with me because of the depth of their feelings for each other. Jonah's caring nature made my heart sigh, while Keely's vulnerability was heart breaking at times. As the author wrote their coming together for their HEA, even though I knew it was coming, the way it was written what was unexpected. The tenderness was unparalleled in what I've seen in so many other stories. I was actually saddened when their story ended, I felt that invested in them that I wanted to see their story continue...as I'm sure will be seen in future stories in the series...I just wanted it now!! I take that as a gifted author bringing her characters to life by creating emotions in the reader.

Bummer. I was so excited to read this after catching up on two previous story and Jonah seemed like such an enigma, but Daring the Pilot fell short from what I expected.
While the overall idea of the story was nice, the writing had me floundering as it choppy flow and hops all over the pages. Too bad really, I love the portrayal of the main characters. Brainiac geologist Keely Andersen and mentally scarred former army pilot turned search-and-rescue helo rider Jonah Clark sound like a great pair. Alas, even with alternate POVs I couldn't really get into their characters or found their attraction believable.
Not helping matters were the situation with Keely's family, more so when it's more telling (by Keely) than showing on the supposed reasons or any sorting-out of the matter afterwards.
Perhaps I'm just not familiar with the author's writing style being new to her works. But of the "Men of Marietta series" I've read so far, this novella is my least favorite. I hope the next entry would click better with me than this.

I am loving the Men of Marietta series. I recommend to begin reading book one so you will fully appreciate the Men of Marietta and the hot calendar project. I hav read several books by Jeannie Moon and loved them all. She never disappoints.

A highly enjoyable read. Both Jonah and Keely are back in Marietta after ten years. The flare of attraction they had back comes roaring back. What I enjoyed about this book is you can feel the connection between the characters. Jonah is great hero material and I love how protective he feels about Keely. They have their work cut out for them, but will Keely realize what she could have with Jonah is worth it?

Keely returns home for research on a project after many years and is rescued by her brother's friend, Jonah. Jonah has returned to join the search and rescue team. These two reconnect and find that their pathway in the future may be together.
Love the return to Montana and Marietta with the setting and characters that this author pens.

I had not read any of the other books in this series but it did not seem to matter. I really enjoyed this novel. Loved the characters, loved the budding relationship between Jonah and Keely.
A fairly predictable but enjoyable book. Will definitely read more by this author.

Ho, hum…another Jeannie Moon that didn’t work for me. 😩
Not only was there an abundance of writing that goes against my Less Pecs More Plot mantra, there were an abundance of plot holes - like WHY was there a deadline of three months for the town to raise money for the house they were rehabbing?
Also, the ending made me cranky. The heroine got mad at the hero for a silly reason and broke things off with him. And then the hero was the one to apologize. 🙄
I read the preview of this one and knew I probably wasn’t going to enjoy it but decided to read it anyway because it was the last book by this author I hadn’t read. With this one, I may have tipped over into more books of hers I didn’t enjoy than did, which makes me sad. She used to be one of my favorite authors, but her early writings, and now her most recent books, haven’t landed well with me. I’m not sure how I feel about that…

I loved that Keely was a smart, strong woman and that Jonah wasn’t intimidated by it but instead found it extremely attractive. I’m not a big fan of v-card romances but this one was done tactfully, just the right amount of heat and detail in the intimate scenes. The black moment came a little out of left field and didn’t seem like it should be such a big deal, but I liked that they both apologized for the misunderstanding. I don’t think the calendar modelling was necessary (Jonah was already a little too perfect) but his reticence to do it was cute. I would have liked more about his military background (the guilt was sort of glossed over) and more actual piloting scenes and/or the search for the girl in the mountains.

Keely was always the smart one, and felt she had to live up to everyone's expectations. After leaving Marietta to pursue her education and travel the world researching, she is ready to come home, and her doctoral project is just the excuse she needs. Of course, before she hits town, she breaks down and is rescued, again, by her brother's best friend and her childhood crush. Jonah Clark always felt protective of Keely, especially after saving her life when she was younger.

Keely Andersen came home to work on her dissertation. When her truck breaks down outside Marietta, she's rescued by Jonah Clark. She's always had a crush on this sexy first responder. He was her brother's best friend who never noticed her. Or so she thought. Jonah was her champion. He fought school bullies and saved her life when she was lost in a blizzard. He cares for her. Keely feels the same. What happens next is so romantic. I feel in love with the ex-Army man and his Science Girl. This story is a delicious combination of romance and humor. Jeannie Moon's story kept me reading. The setting makes me happy. I always love coming to this caring town. The Men of Marietta series with its Calendar project is addictive. I can't wait for the next book.

Keeley Anderson has returned home to Marietta Montana to finish her Doctoral research project. When her truck breaks down a few miles outside of town her childhood friend is the one who rescues her. Ex-Army helicopter pilot Jonah Clark was headed to the mountains to prepare for his position with search and rescue when he finds Keeley on the side of the road. When Jonah offers to help Keeley with her project with a hike into the mountains the sparks begin to fly. The two hesitate to get involved since Keeley's brother and Jonah were childhood friends. Eventually they can't stay apart but can they overcome there prying families opinions.
The Men of Marietta series is getting better by the book. Keeley and Jonah are my favorite characters of the series so far. This book will not disappoint.
