I’m a fan of the Little Black Dress

I think I may be the WORST reviewer for Anthologies. When I was asked to review Little Black Dress, I was all – Sure, sure, I’m honoured to be asked… Inside my head, I’m screaming – Bloody, bloody, bloody Hell! I am soooo going to stuff this up.

See, I start every anthology with the intent to stop after each story and get my feelings down. Yes, I was determined that THIS time I would act professional and review each instalment individually.

HA HA HA HA HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Well, it didn’t happen. I got to the end of Abby’s story (first cab off the rank) and thought I’d just click to the next page to be prepared…and…

Here I am at the end of the book!!

Bloody Hell…I did it again!!

This anthology was AWESOMELY BRILLIANTLY SPECTACULARLY…GOOD! Seriously, I’m not just saying that because it’s raising money for a worthwhile cause. I’m not even just saying it because I’m a fan of these authors. It’s just me saying – Here you go, I’ve done the research and found four stories that gave me SSS – Smile, Squirm and Sigh…or maybe… HHH – Hot, Humorous and High (Book high, no drugs were taken or misused in the reading of Little Black Dress).

Anyways, my summaries are brief and pretty much stick to my reactions and feelings. Each of these short stories left me with a big goofy smile on my face.

Abby’s story was all about reconnecting with her husband when life and drama made it seem like love and commitment weren't a priority anymore. I think, if you’ve ever been in a long-term relationship, we’ve all faced this one. A great reminder that whatever challenges you face, it should be faced together, holding hands and supporting each other.

The second story is about Abby’s little sister Lucy and what happens after her “biggest crush” sees her now as a very sexy adult instead of the pesky little sister of his best friend. This one is funny and super sweet. I had the sighs and “ain’t love grand?” heart flutters with this one.

The third story introduces us to Katie who is trying to thwart her parent's devotion to getting her hitched by introducing her to “blind dates” at the family dinner’s. Now, the main reason she’s not keen on the blind dates is because she has serious feelings for her partner facing crime and fellow police officer, Ethan. Two police officers and one of them is seriously bossy in the bedroom. I like bossy in the bedroom….HUBBA HUBBA!!

The last story we meet the very funny Win. OMG!! I busted out laughing a couple of times in this one. Seriously, Win and Max and their straight talking CRACKED ME UP!! Winnie is asked to attend a work function with a friend and decides to make things interesting. Win dresses and acts the part of serious government contract worker, Winnifred. She meets and falls for Max as Winnifred. What will happen when he finds out who she really is and what she’s really like???

All of these stories have one thing in common…a Little Black Dress. This thing is magical. Whoever wears this dress seems to have the best night (and sex) of their life.

I seriously (I know I’ve only said that word 20 billion times) recommend Little Black Dress. I’m kind of hoping, seeing as it’s raising money for a good cause, the authors will think about doing more of these. They were that good.

I loved this!!!!

What an amazing anthology!  Not only is it a fantastic read,  but the proceeds supports Gilda's Club.

I love how the stories are weaved together through the "magic" of the "Little Black Dress".

Each book highlights a separate couple,  and of course they leave you wanting more!  I could only hope we get more from these characters.

Absolutely no cheating or OW/OM drama!   Sweet and hot,  I adored every minute of it!

4.5 stars

I really enjoyed Little Black Dress Anthology. All four stories are fun, sexy, and heart-warming and will make you smile.

First story is Abby's Angel by Sarah O'Rourke. I haven't read anything by Sarah O'Rourke before but after reading this it won't be the last. This story had so much heart.

The second story is Lucy's a Dreamer by Brynne Asher. This was a lot of fun and I loved Vaughn. There is nothing better than a hero that knows what he wants.

Story three is Kiss Me, Katie by Sarah Curtis. It is the sweetest story in the bunch and my favorite. I really found the connection between Katie and Ethan believable and I really wish there was a full length novel about them. I just loved it.

The final story is Winnie Mae by Layla Frost. It will make you laugh out loud and is extremely hot.

All net proceeds go to Gilda's Club Rochester how help support those living with cancer, their friends and family. Another reason to read this book.

Overall a fantastic read for a fantastic cause. Highly recommend.

4.75 'Lucky LBD' Stars

What a wonderful anthology that besides being for fantastic cause, really touch all the right spots of the Romance genre!

It’s always hard for me to review anthologies, specially because I rarely go through all the stories given my literary ‘pickiness’, but this Little Black Dress really was the exception. All the stories got me hooked in the most diverse ways, and I adored the fluidity to which we go from one story to the other. The only thing missing for me even considering the short length of the stories – and the reason for this not being a full five stars – was the lack of at least an hint of an ‘epilogue’, maybe just a statement/paragraph into the couples future, perhaps even in the adjoining story. That really was the only point, because apart from that it was perfect!

The LBD really was a natural and thought out connection between all the storylines, and goes to show that no matter the kind of girl you are, a Little Black Dress always hits the spot – in this case, literally!!! ;)

ABBY’S ANGELS – SARAH O’ROURKE

The perfect start for this anthology!

I adored Abbigail and Whitlock’s story! For me it’s incredible refreshing reading a story about a married couple, and specially one as devoted and loving as these two.

Because while Abby hadn’t been his first lover, he’d known the moment he tasted her lips for the first time that she would be his last. She’d be his everything. Until he took his last breath.

Their story touched me deeply, and the serious and in depth issues of their married life couldn’t have been more beautifully written or had a more dreamy outcome. But rest assured that just because were talikng about a couple on a decade old marriage doesn’t mean any less steam. Quite the contrary! Who knew an apparently uptight and by-the-book college professor could be such a dirty talker?! These two really burn down the sheets, it’s a wonder how the lucky little black dress survived to pass along to Lucy!!!

“You know damn well that after months of celibacy, the last thing I want to do is waste my cum by exploding in your hand. It belongs inside you. Deep, deep inside you, Abby girl,”

LUCY’S A DREAMER – BRYNNE ASHER

After a more serious uptake on a relationship, Brynne Asher gives us a more light hearted and humorous version of one with Lucy – Abigail’s free spirited younger sister.

Vaughn had been her teenager crush, her brother’s best friend, her dream man, so when she wakes up next to him after a torrid night of incredible sex, let’s just say that that her flighty nature takes over. But worry not, because Vaughn knows exactly how to handle that.

You can bet this fine ass the first possible moment I can get you alone, I’ll be working on your feng and your shui.

OMG, these two really gave us some laughing out loud moments, specially Vaughn, which surprised me in the best of ways. Who can resist a man who knows what he wants and doesn’t allow any obstacle – specially in the shape of a big brother – to stop him from getting it, or in this case her?!

“Never wanted anything as much as you.”

In the end Lucy realizes that there’s no point in avoiding confrontation or fighting the unavoidable, because sometimes, it’s more than worth it, and dreams do come true!!!

"You’re my dream, Vaughn Isaac Rowe. I’ll never want anyone but you.”
"Just so you know, you’re the best thing I never knew to dream.”

KISS ME, KATIE – SARAH CURTIS

I seriously adore this trope! What is it about two people in love/lust for one another and doing patrol together in a small police car that pushes my buttons?! Don’t really know the reason, but it totally works for me!

Katie and Ethan have been working alongside as partners for over six months. Six months where they got deeper and deeper under the other’s skin, and fell in love. The problem was that both were afraid to loose they well earned friendship, and that the other didn’t reciprocate their feelings.

The golden opportunity presented itself to Ethan when Katie asked him to pretend to be her boyfriend. He accepted, of course, but pretending was the furthest thing from his mind…

“You’re not going to give me a tour of your house first?”
“You’ll get your tour when I fuck you in every room.”

One kiss, one touch was enough to explode their repressed desire for one another, and from that moment on, there was no turning back. Not that any of them wanted to. LOL

“No, sweetheart, wrong fairy tale. You’re the enchanting Siren, luring this captivated fool to his untimely death with your tempting song.”

Loved both the main characters, but Ethan thoughts really were a special brand of sexy and steamy deliciousness!

“Six fucking very long months of watching you,” his face drew closer, “wanting you,” closer, “waiting for you, ’til I fucking needed you more than my next breath.”

WINNIE MAE – LAYLA FROST

Layla Frost really creates the sassiest, strongest and funniest female main character, and Winnie is proof to that!

“Yes, it keeps me busy. But that’s what I like. I’m a doer, you know?”
It was a massive lie. I was a sleeper.

But even the totally kickass, deeply independent and sexual uninhibited Winnie can catch the surprise of her life after a supposed one night stand, an unforgettable one at that, when against all odds, and internal struggle, it becomes so much more than that.

After an apparently successful and regretful ruse, the problem was coming clean and showing her true colors. What she had no idea was that her shiny personality shone through no matter the elaborate artifice.

“I think you’re perfect as you are,” I said. “Minus the Cinderella act. Although, I think she left a glass slipper behind, and not undies.”

Who knew she was the one getting the shock of revelation, because Max – one sexy devil, btw – only ever saw the true Winnie, and there’s was no doubt that he more than liked what he saw!!!

And that office sex scene… SCORCHING!!!

“I love having your actual hands on me. My imagination is a poor fucking substitute.”

I loved all of these stories and want more of each of these couples. I loved how the Little Black Dress traveled through this group of women letting each have a piece of the magic. One of my favorite anthologies. Usually when I read them there's a story or two I don't like. With this one, I loved them all.

Overall 3.5 round up to four

Abby's Angels by Sarah O'Rourke

What happens when a married couple stops communicating and many assumptions are made. Abby and her husband Whitlock are at a standstill in their marriage. They have gone through some really rough times in recent years and they have been shutting each other out here and there. But that is about to change when Abby's little black dress makes a reappearance courtesy of her sister dragging it out of the depths of her closet. What magic will this little black dress bring back to this couple?

I have to say this one was well done but it had some things that kept me from loving it. It had a wonderful and extremely sweet ending but I also thought it had so really sad moments too. I also wasn't feeling the humor in the beginning but I can struggle with humor in a book. If you like one with some heart then you will love this story. Hero and heroine pov

Lucy's a Dreamer by Brynne Asher

Lucy is a dreamer who hasn't quite figured out what direction to apply her many skills in yet. While her and her sister Abby are involved in and getting ready for their brother's wedding, one of her long ago dreams in the form of an old crush is also coming to the wedding. Lucy decides to borrow her sister's little black dress but she is in for a surprise when it puts her in her old crushes sight and no is not is Vaughn's vocabulary.

Another well done story that was quick with some humor. It was in the heroine and hero's pov. I struggled with this one personally because the heroine got on my nerves. I do wish it had more to it or more solid ending so I think that was another struggle for me too.

Kiss Me, Katie by Sarah Curtis

Katie is in a huge bind. Her loving and well meaning parents have been bringing blind dates for her during their monthly family dinners. She has a plan to try and stop her parents match making by selling them that she is in a relationship with her hot and sexy partner. The only problem is she has to ask him to play along and she needs something to wear. So she borrows her friend little black dress and doesn't know that her partner Ethan is all to happy to help with her parents because of his own plans.

I thought this was super cute and hot. I liked the couple and really wished it was longer. It was heroine and hero pov too and have to say my favorite since it is my type of read.

Winnie Mae by Layla Frost

Winsome Winnie Mae is a talented artist. She is doing a huge favor for her friend and roommate by going to her friend's business office Christmas party. It isn't her idea of a good time but to help her friend she goes. She dons her borrowed little black dress and decides she can play the business woman for the night along with some funny stories thrown in. She meets Max and stays in her character for the night not thinking that she will get lucky or when that one night stretches into more that her funny stories make things a little complicated when she finds out who Max is.

This one was really funny and seriously hot. I struggle with humor in books but in this story I did find it funny. I wished this one was longer too. This was mostly from the heroine's pov with a little from the hero pov. It was a nice funny light way to wrap up all four stories.

So why the overall rating? I wished I got more from each story and I like some more than others. But I can say they are all solid reads that I think everyone will have their favorite story but still enjoy the whole book as each story brings it's own flavor.

-4 Stars for Abby's Angels
A bit heartbreaking at first but what a beautiful ending!

-4.5 Stars for Lucy's A Dreamer
I love that this story is about the sister from the first book. And Va-Va-Vaugn! Man, I loved how he chased Lucy!

-4.5 Stars for Kiss Me, Kate
Officer Ethan Pierce. Need I say more? A man in uniform and he grunts. Can't get better than that!

-5 Stars for Winnie Mae
I am such a fan of quirky characters and Winnie was a hilarious cartoonist! Max was a stuffy but hot business man. These two made for an unlikely pair and I loved them together.

I loved that each character came from the story before and how they all borrowed the same lucky little black dress. This was a fun read!

3.5 stars!

I don't really read anthologies BUT the reviews from trusted friends did it for me. Curiousity is my middle name. We have four stories and I will try to rate each one.

Book 1 - 3 stars - Abby's Angels by Sarah O'Rourke

About a married couple Whit and Abby. They both feel numb after suffering 3 miscarriages and a failed attempt at adoption. They have grown apart for months and both of them don't know how to bridge the gap. With the help of the Little Black Dress, they finally reconnected and got their family in the end.

Book 2 - 4 stars - Lucy's a dreamer by Brynne Asher

This is Lucy's story. Abby's sister in book 1. She borrowed the little black dress for her brother's wedding rehearsal. She was running late, saw Vaughnn ( one of her brother's groomsmen and closest friend). They met again after 10 years. After having too much drink at dinner, they both ended up in bed. I really love Vaughnn's antics just to get Lucy's attention. Really loved and enjoyed this.

Book 3 - 4 stars! Kiss me, Katie by Sarah Curtis

Katie is in a bind. Her parents want her to settle down and have kids because they are worried about her being a policewoman. So, she asked her partner Ethan to be her pretend date and introduced him to her parents. For their date, she was wearing the little black dress she borrowed from Lucy. It all worked out in the end. Always a favorite of mine.

Book 4 - 2 stars - Winnie Mae by Layla Frost

I am sorry I didn't like this one as much. It was hot, yes but I just couldn't connect to the characters.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read.

Abby’s Angels by Sarah O’Rourke
Abigail & Whitlock’s marriage has been strained lately due to some very unfortunate loses & Abby feels like all is lost. Whit has missed their third appointment with a marriage therapist & Abby doesn’t know what else to do. Her younger sister Lucy comes over to help Abby sort out her feelings. After Abby shares everything with Lucy, Lucy comes up with a plan for Abby to reconnect with her husband. The plan involves Abby wearing the LBD she wore on their first date & seducing her husband back into bed. The LBD does the job & both Abby & Whit are able to let each other know both verbally & physically how much they mean to each other. After Abby & Whit nap from their love making, Whit shares a surprise/secret he has been keeping that has kept him at a distance from his wife. Abby is scared when Whit begins to explain but when the whole story is relieved both of their lives are going to change forever.

Lucy’s A Dreamer by Brynne Asher
Lucy borrows her sister Abby’s LBD to wear to her brother’s wedding rehearsal. She wakes up the next morning in bed next to her brother’s good friend Vaughn Isaac Rowe. Lucy can’t believe her luck (or maybe it was the LBD) because she crushed on Vaughn hard when they were younger. Lucy makes a quick escape before Vaughn has a chance to wake up, she does have a wedding to get ready for. She spends most of the day trying to avoid Vaughn while the wedding party is taking pictures all over San Francisco. She is trying to act as if nothing happened between her & Vaughn. But Vaughn will have no part in her avoidance & makes himself her groomsman partner as they walk down the aisle (he isn't supposed to be her partner). When it is time to head to the reception Vaughn books a hotel suite & informs Lucy they are either going to talk or f*ck. It is Lucy’s choice. Much to Lucy’s surprise Vaughn shares his feelings with Lucy & she is elated.

Kiss Me, Katie by Sarah Curtis
Katie has a family dinner she must attend & asks Lucy if she can help her out with an outfit to wow her audience. Katie is not much into fashion or dressing up so she needs her friends help. Lucy lends her the lucky LBD. Katie’s parents have been after her to find a man & settle down. They’re not happy she became a cop & think if she has a family she’ll quit the force. Katie has a plan to trick her parents into thinking she has done just that by having her partner, Ethan Pierce, pose as her boyfriend. They have been partners for the last six months & during that time Katie has grown to actually wish there was more between the two of them. She doesn’t want to ruin their partnership or friendship so she keeps her feelings to herself. Ethan agrees to play the role of her boyfriend & does a very convincing job at dinner with her parents. At the end of the night Ethan decides to take Katie home but to her surprise they end up at his house. He explains to Katie that it is her choice to stay or go but that he wants her there & so much more.

Winnie Mae by Layla Frost
Winnie’s roommate Emma wants her to go with her to her company Christmas party. It is a new job for Emma & she doesn’t know anyone so she wants Winnie there for support. Winnie decides to ask Katie if she can borrow the LBD for the occasion. She is really not in the mood to go shopping & wants an easy fix the ‘what to wear’ problem. Once at the company party, Winnie pushes Emma to go & talk to a young man she works with that has caught her eye. While people watching the party goers a man approaches Winnie & asks if she would like more wine. She declines but starts up a conversation with him. She goes into her Winifred routine playing that she is some top executive with some real important job. Winnie plays the role masterfully because this is something she has done before & doesn’t think twice about it thinking she will never see this man, Max, again. Winnie & Max end up leaving to party together & have a wild & satisfying night of the best sex either of them has ever had. Winnie believes it to be a one night thing yet Max has different ideas & makes it clear he wants to see her again. After some time Winnie realizes she likes Max & must tell him the truth about who she really is & see if he can forgive her for the story she told. Much to Winnie’s surprise Max has already figured out that Winnie is not Winifred but wants her for who she is anyway.

LBD is a fun read of four stories that lend to each other with the lucky LBD bring the man of each of the woman’s dreams to them -- this LBD is lucky!! Each author does their story justice with good writing, humor & a lot of steamy action. Each story is a mini romance with a HEA ending. The ladies (the authors) need to be commended for donating all net proceeds to Gilda’s Club, Rochester. My father suffer from leukemia & I know from personal experience how important it is to have support for both the person living with cancer & for their families. My hat is off to you ladies & thanks!! This book is meant for mature readers.

Loved it. Besides the fact that it’s for a great cause (seriously EFF CANCER), the stories are just enough to whet your appetite for each of these authors’ writing. I definitely recommend it for fans of contemporary romances in general and these authors in particular.

I adored this book! These 4 talented authors intertwined stories of four lovely ladies and how that LBD helped them all snag their men. I loved all the h's. I can't even pick a favorite story because they were all good. The H's were hot as hell, too! All the stories were short, steamy reads.
The best part about this book is all proceeds go to Gilda's Club-Rochester.
To the authors-please consider doing this again. I would read it again in a heartbeat!

Little Black Dress

If you’re a fan of humorous, steamy novellas this book is for you. However, if you’re a fan of helping friends, family and loved ones as well as those battling cancer, then this book is DEFINITELY for you. You need to one click RIGHT NOW! All proceeds from the sale of this book are going toward Gilda’s Club. With all the one clicking so many of us do, sometimes without a second thought, this is the time to click without hesitation.

Abby’s Angels – Sarah O’Rourke

Abby and Whit are struggling in their marriage. They have had some seriously bad times that have resulted in an emotional separation that Abby is fighting with everything within herself to overcome but Whit seems to not be responding to anything. Fortunately, Abby’s sister Lucy has the solution. Out comes the LBD and well, let’s just say Whit does love the memories that little black dress holds. This novella is fast paced and steamy. Lucy is hilarious and her banter with Abby was so entertaining. Whit definitely redeems himself in a big way. Loved the solution and the epilogue is just icing on the cake.

Lucy’s a Dreamer – Brynne Asher

Lucy Gladys Adair is not good at adulting. After a wedding rehearsal hook up with Vaugh Isaac Rowe, the boy/man she has crushed on since middle school, she slips out believing that’s all it’s ever going to be. However, Vaughn is not done. He doesn’t do one nights and now he’s got to make Lucy realize that he wants more. The day is a hilarious display of the Master of the Bullshitters, the Feng Shui Fraud and the Will impersonator. You’ll have to read it to find out more about the many faces of Vaughn. And believe me, you want to read it. Vaughn is yumminess personified. This little nugget packs a lot of story into such a short space.

Kiss Me, Katie – Sarah Curtis

Oh my lord! Officer Ethan Pierce is one hot cop! And Katie has been in love with him for months. Partners at the San Francisco police department they have both kept their growing feelings to themselves. That is until Katie has to defend herself against her family and their persistence that she settle down with a husband and children. This offers the perfect opportunity for Ethan to make his move. And that little black dress, it only adds fuel to the fire. I loved that these two had had time to get to know each other so their next step was built on a foundation of trust and respect. This is a great little novella that I just didn’t want to end. I would’ve loved to have had more of Katie and Ethan.

Winnie Mae – Layla Frost

Max has been ‘Winifreded’. Yes, that is my made up word for the stunt Winnie Mae pulls on the handsome stranger she meets at a Christmas party. Winnie is a quirky fun heroine that lives pretty much by her own rules while making fun of herself and her antics and actually making a living while doing so. Unfortunately, her Winifred joke lands her in a position that keeps getting tighter and tighter. (Are you thinking dirty thoughts? Well, you could be right!) Max is not who he seems and Winnie will learn that after having to make a hard decision in order to try and keep him. This little ditty was hot and different from anything I’ve read before.

To the authors of this incredible anthology written with love and care, thank you ladies for giving of your time and talent to help those that are struggling daily. Y’all are the best!

5 STARS!

What a fantastic anthology this was! The premise was fresh and fun, and the stories were all entertaining and sexy. A collaboration such as this is not an easy thing to pull off, but these authors did a fabulous job blending their stories together with a single commonality. These four completely different short stories were all tied together by the common thread of one very special little black dress and the implied romantic magic each of the heroines experienced while wearing it.

The stories were varied and unique, all of them quick reads that still packed a sweet and steamy punch. A married couple still very much in love but drifting apart following their struggle with infertility. A wedding hookup turning into a happily ever after for a woman who's always crushed on her big brother's best friend. A police officer warding off her parent's matchmaking efforts with a decoy boyfriend in the form of her sexy older partner, who is determined to turn this fake relationship into a real one. A quirky web cartoonist donning a faux corporate persona to tag along with her roommate to her office holiday party and winds up landing the big boss. Each of these stories was romantic and sexy, and they all worked well together to keep me smiling and happy from cover-to-cover.

I'm a huge fan of Sarah O'Rourke and Layla Frost, so when I heard they were teaming up together on an anthology, I was beyond excited to get my hands on it. Once I learned it was to a charitable anthology for the benefit of Gilda's Club, an organization that is very dear to me and my family, the deal was sealed, there was no way I wasn't going to be a part of it, even if just as a reviewer and buyer of it. Having the opportunity to read stories by Brynne Asher and Sarah Curtis was the added bonus of discovering new-to-me authors whose books I'm now very much looking forward to reading. All of this combined to make Little Black Dress a giant win for me.

Full of humor, heart and heat, Little Black Dress was a truly enjoyable way to spend an afternoon! I loved this anthology, and the fact that I was able to support Gilda's Club through the purchase of it made a feel good book feel even better.

This was a flirty and fun little collection that is definitely worth your time. It also benefits an amazing charity, Gilda's Club. Cancer is an ugly word, but the people who fight it are beautiful. <3

Abby's Angel, Sarah O'Rourke 3 stars
While still fun, this was my least fave of the stories. Abby just rubbed me the wrong way. But by the end, I was engaged by this sweet story of a couple finding their way back to each other.

Lucy's a Dreamer, Brynne Asher 3.5-4 stars
Unlike Abby, I quite liked her sister Lucy, but I liked Vaughn even more. I loved how once he made his mind up, no force on earth was going to keep him from having what he wanted. Which was our Lucy, of course.

Kiss Me, Katie, Sarah Curtis 4 solid stars
This was by far my favorite! I loved Katie and Ethan, I loved that they were cops and partners, and I adored how Ethan twisted Katie's little deception for his own ends. Plus, he was super hot, just the perfect blend of Alpha and sweetheart.

Wnnie Mae, Layla Frost 3.5 stars
I think I would have liked this one better if it had been a smidge longer, I was only really getting a sense of Max at the end and what I did was pretty awesome. Winnie, of course, was a blast. I love female characters with no filter.

Magical LBD 4.5****

This anthology was awesome and the way the stories intertwined with this "magical" dress was fantastic. This is the story of four ladies who with some meddling from family and friends, and the assistance of a sexy black dress, has their dreams realized.

These stories are the collaboration of four authors and all net proceeds will be donated to Gilda's Group, a non-profit, which offers networking, emotional, and social support to those living with cancer, family, and friends.

Sarah O'Rourke: Abby's Angels
This story is about Abby and Whit. They have been a happily married couple, but the pressures of becoming parents has caused a separation. Can they find a way to reconnect and realize their dreams of becoming parents?

Brynne Asher: Lucy's a Dreamer
Lucy is Abby's younger sister and she is part of her older brothers wedding. She was nervous about seeing Vaughn, who she's always crushed on, but not only is he her brother's best friend, but he's always seen her as a little girl. That is until he spots her after years of not seeing her. Vaughn is shocked to see that Lucy is no longer a little girl.

Sarah Curtis: Kiss me, Katie
Katie is Lucy's friend and she needs advice and help from her friend. She is a cop, but her parents hate her career and figure if she finds a man, she will get married, have kids, and quit being a cop. The only man Katie is looking at is her partner of six months, Ethan. Little does Katie know, that all Ethan has been waiting for is a chance to show her exactly how he feels about her.

Layla Frost: Winne Mae
The last story is about Winne Mae. She is Katie's neighbor. She is attending a work function with her roommate and meets Max. They hit it off, but she has passed herself off as someone else, and she has no idea who Max really is.

This was a very hot and sweet enjoyable read.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR ABBY'S ANGELS BY SARAH O'ROURKE ONLY :

Abby has been happily married to Whitlock Lehigh for over 10 years. They've always been madly in love with and passionate towards one another. Abby is 31 and Whit is 41, she met him when she was a student and he was a Professor. Lately things have been strained between them, starting with Whit forgetting their ten year anniversary. He's become cold and distant so she suggested marriage counseling and even though he agreed he's missed all three sessions that she's scheduled. Whitlock is a Professor of economics at UC Berkeley, he loves his wife more than anything in the world but he is keeping something from her. Abby is at the end of her rope so she asks her younger sister/best friend, Lucy to come over so she can vent and get her advice. Lucy loves Whit like a brother and knows he would never cheat on Abby. So she comes up with a plan and tells Abby to seduce Whit and to ask him right after sex (because that is when men are most honest) what is going on. Abby has been through a lot, she's had 3 miscarriages, and one failed attempt at adoption but she doesn't talk about it instead she keeps it bottled up inside. While I do love reading about a couple meeting and getting to know each other I also love reading about couples who are already married at the start of the story. I wish this story would have been longer but that is my only complaint. It was so heartbreaking and bittersweet and I cried my eyes out at the end.

4 stars. This is a good little anthology! This anthology includes 4 stories each by a different author including a little black dress. It is like the Sisterhood of the Traveling Black Dress, which I thought was a really cute and unique idea for connecting the stories!

Abby's Angel's by Sarah O' Rourke - In the first story, Abby has been going through a rough spot with her husband. She has undergone infertility, miscarriages, and a failed adoption. She and her husband have grown apart because of those tragedies. Abby has tried to get him to go to counseling, but he has blown it off. She is heartbroken and feels like her marriage might be over. Her sister, Lucy, convinces her to try one last time to seduce, and then confront her husband. She decides to wear her little black dress that she wore on their first date. They are able to work things out between them and end up with a bright, happy future.

This was a heartbreaking story to start off the anthology with. I felt really bad for Abby and I shed a few tears for her. I did not love that her husband was keeping a big secret from her. She took it all in stride, but, if I were her, I would have been mad! I did like the way everything turned out for them though. They were really sweet together.

Lucy's A Dreamer by Brynne Asher - Lucy is Abby's sister. She borrows Abby's LBD to wear to their brother's rehearsal dinner for his wedding. There, she runs into Vaughn. He is her brother's best friend who she always crushed on growing up. The sparks fly between them and they spend a hot night together. But come morning, Lucy is afraid that Vaughn only wants a one night stand so she runs. The day of the wedding, throughout the festivities, Vaughn chases Lucy and tries to corner her so he can get her alone and make his intentions known.

Lucy and Vaughn were hot and sweet together. She had always dreamed of him and compared all other men to him, so she was happy to have her dreams come true. And Vaughn says "I'm glad I never knew to dream of you, Lucy. I'm not sure I could have waited, that pain might have been too much for me. Just so you know, you're the best thing I never knew to dream." Swoon!

Kiss Me, Katie by Sarah Curtis - Katie is Lucy's high school friend. She is a police officer and a tomboy. Her parents are constantly trying to try to set her up on blind dates and harping on marriage and babies. Katie decides to get her parents off her back for a bit, by pretending she has a boyfriend. She approaches her partner, Officer Ethan Pierce, who she is very close to. So close, that she's secretly in love with him. Ethan jumps at the chance to play her boyfriend at Sunday family dinner, because he's secretly in love with her too! So Katie borrow's the LBD from Lucy and it works it's magic for the couple. They play a couple so convincingly that they believe it themselves.

Katie was super sweet. Ethan was hot and he knew to take the risk on letting her know his feelings for her. They were a really cute couple!

Winnie Mae by Layla Frost - Winnie is Katie's friend and neighbor. She is a cartoon artist. She is quirky and tattoed. Winnie draws herself in her cartoons and writes funny scenes about her life. She agrees to go with her roommate, Emma, to her work Christmas party. Winnie is not the "corporate" type, so she borrows Katie's LBD to wear to the party. She covers her tattoos with a wrap and puts her hair up so she looks more conservative. Winnie meets, and has immediate chemistry, with Max at the party. She decides to goof around and makes up stories to tell him about being a big shot executive in "mergers and aquisitions" (which she has no idea what that is). She thinks it doesn't matter because she won't see these people again. Winnie and Max do decide to leave together, though, and have a hot night together. But Winnie runs out in the morning before Max wakes up. But Max isn't letting her go that easily. They end up texting all the time, which leads to them talking on the phone, and finally they get together again. Both want more from each other, but first Winnie has to come clean about her lies!

This story was my favorite! Winnie was such a fun, cool character. An artist, snarky free spirit, I just loved her. She and Max had immediate chemistry and great banter. Max saw through her lies to see who she really was right away. They just clicked and fit together so well. I wanted more from these two!

I was excited to read this anthology by some of my favorite authors. It was a great collection of short stories. Overall, they were fun, sweet and sexy! Reading it left me with a warm happy feeling! Proceeds from this anthology will be donated to Gilda’s Club, which offers support to those living with cancer, too!

It all began with a little black dress . . .

Sweet baby . . . I experienced so many emotions as I read this anthology: tears, laughter, love to name a few.

Tears; yes I cried because Whit and Abby's story hit me hard.

Laughter: you can't have an O'Rourke, Asher, Curtis, Frost anthology without those moments that make you laugh, giggle, and hoot out loud. Goodness gracious, there were moments I was laughing so hard, I thought I was going to wake my husband.

Love: dear, Lord, these women know how to give you the perfect aphla-male that will have you sighing and falling in love, not mention, the perfect women who know how to keep them on their toes.

To say I love this anthology composed of interconnecting stories is putting it mildly . . . I AM COMPLETELY, UTTERLY, AND MADLY IN LOVE with the Little Black Dress!

The Little Black Dress (LBD) is the common fabric that links these 4 stories together. Each story has a different author, but the same LBD contributes to the plot. Each woman sees the LBD as the solution or part of the solution for their circumstance. Sometimes it rekindles love thought to be gone, sparks interest in a long-time crush, gives a woman courage, or leads to an unexpected encounter. In all cases, the heroine gets her HEA and the LBD is handed off to the next lucky gal.

This was a very enjoyable, sexy read and I highly recommend it. As a bonus, proceeds from this book will be donated to Gilda’s Club, Rochester. So go get your LBD on ladies!

This is a genius idea from these authors to create a story that intertwines with the next. Was done in away for me that was seamless and enjoyable. The characters in each story had a lot of depth and even though each story was short, got enough for them to be relatable and believable.

Enjoyed it!

Little Black Dress is an anthology containing four short stories by authors I like; Sarah O’Rourke, Brynne Asher, Sarah Curtis and Layla Frost. Each story stands on its own, but the women in the stories know each other. There is another common factor; the same little black dress all four women wear to get their men. If you enjoy books by these authors, you’re going to love these hot and sweet stories.
“Four women, four stories, and four happily ever afters… And it all started with one little black dress.”

Abby’s Angels is the story of Abby and Whit, a couple that’s been married for ten years. They always had a very loving, passionate relation, but lately all seems off. Afraid her husband is having an affair, Abby thinks the worst and doesn’t know what to do. Whit has a good reason to be so secretive lately (in his own mind), but he senses his wife isn’t happy with him. When all is out in the open I wanted to smack Whit. I understand his thinking to a certain degree, but if I was Abby, I would have been a lot angrier.
“Abigail Layne, that little black dress rocks. And the woman inside the dress could rule the world if she ever chose to try. You’ve got to believe in Whit, but more importantly, you’ve got to believe in yourself. You got this.”

Lucy’s a Dreamer tells about Lucy and Vaughn, who have known each other for a long time. Vaughn is the best friend of Lucy’s older brother, and Lucy always had a big crush on him. When they meet after a decade at the wedding of Lucy’s brother, Vaughn is surprised the annoying girl is gone, and that Lucy changed into a beautiful woman. From that moment on he’s all in, but convincing Lucy is a wee bit more difficult he thought it would be.
“Last night when his eyes caught mine and didn’t let go, every nerve ending wrapped in my perfect dress went abuzz. I was a hummingbird in a beehive. Little did I know it was nothing compared to the way he would make me tingle later on.”

Kiss Me, Katie is about Katie and Ethan, two police officers who are partnered up for the last six months. They are attracted to each other, but both don’t do a thing about it since they’re colleagues. So, friends it is. When Katie needs a pretend boyfriend, of course she asks Ethan to help her out. But pretending to be in love while you actually are, both Ethan and Katie find it difficult…
“I’ll need to touch you.” His voice was a hoarse whisper. “Maybe even kiss you.” He deliberately let his lips graze her ear. “Do you think you can pretend to like it?” “I…I…”

Winnie Mae tells the story of Winnie and Max who meet at a company party and share one hot night together. Winnie is sure she won’t see Max again, but it doesn’t take long before he starts texting her. Max and Winnie text a lot (some is a bit naughty), and the couple finds out they actually like each other. All they have to do is meet each other again and talk to face to face…
“MA7: Did it hit midnight, Cinderella? I didn’t recognize the name. WinnieM: Who is this? MA7: Max.

I was more than a little surprised, and not just because I’d never given him my contact info. Curious, too. Beyond that, though, I couldn’t deny how happy I was. He’d been in the back of my head all day.”

As already said, all four stories are short, sexy and funny. Yes, all are predictable too, but given the length of each story I don’t mind at all, I didn’t expect complicated storylines. I like the couples and their stories, they put a big smile on my face. I give Little Black Dress 4 stars.

Holy vagina, penises and orgasm. This may have been short but wow it certainly packed a punch. Chemistry and attraction off the chart. The little dress that could and did. Miss Asher I will be needing the full novel thank you.
