Pilar Harrison, a free spirit, product of a deadbeat dad, and crackhead mother, moved away from, Mount Olive, MS to Florida, after her college graduation, and the death of her grandmother. Pilar thought that life in Florida would be great, since it is nicknamed, The Sunshine State, but little did she know, dark clouds would surround her, after getting involved with Brandon ‘Blizzy’ Lewis, who had his own set of problems; women and gambling.
Barak ‘Duke’ Ramses, a native of Egypt, and next in line to be crowned King. At the age of 16, his father, dropped him and his younger brothers off in the United States, as an effort to make them men, and find their own way. Duke made a way for himself, and his brothers, after opening up a chain of pool halls. After Blizzy, one of his faithful customers, and best friends, started stealing money from the company and the customers, putting the Florida location in jeopardy of being shut down. Duke sends one of his brothers to take care of Blizzy, not knowing that Pilar was only inches away and witnesses the murder.
After being caught and begging for her life, Duke spares her, but not before putting a strict detail on Pilar, making sure she doesn’t go to the police. Pilar gets fed up with being followed, and ends up moving into Duke’s house, against the wishes of one of his brothers, who also thought that he was not fit to be King.
After getting to know Pilar personally, Duke starts to develop feelings for her, but he can’t act on them, due to the secrets that he has. Will Duke risk it all and act on his feelings for Pilar or will he walk away and leave behind an affair that could lead to something special?

This book held my attention from the very first page. Pilar is a sweet girl and just had a hard life. Duke should have just been honest. I'm definitely reading part 2 because I need to known what going to happen next.

This was my first read by the author and it was a good one. I wasn't sure what to expected, but I knew I loved this Pilar character! She had a DGAF attitude and didn't care what she said. When I was introduced to the character Brandon I thought he was going to be alright but that didn't last for long. Duke! I had a love/hate relationship with him. This was a good read and I can't wait to see what happens in part 2.

Urban's Beauty and the Beast
I absolutely loved reading this body of work. The dynamic between Duke and Pilar were nothing short of an urban version of Beauty and the Beast. As you read you see how Pilar changes him and opens him up and shows him a side of love he never envisioned. In between their hate/love relationship, Duke shows Pilar what it is to be loved, cherished, needed and wanted. This a great read-a must! Looking forward to see what happens next!

Pilar has been so much. I love that she has Swan and have added Lee, Mirah as friends. I truly hope that Pilar don't self destruct when she find what's up with Duke. This may really set Pilar back. I think there's something up with Duke's brother Baraki. He may be the father of Edwina baby. Plz don't let the king harm Pilar because I know she's going to the engagement party.

She is as real as it gets, down on her luck, kindhearted , a good friend, educated, but cold towards relationships.

This was a good ready. Duke was so mean but i liked him. I just wish he was truthful and told Pilar the truth. Baker i got on my nerves and swan was my girl. Blizzy well he got what was coming to him. I’m glad Swan finally accepted new friends into the fold lol. A few errors by not many.

Best read so far this year.
The relationship started with so much tension but you can tell what will eventually happen. I was sneaking bathroom breaks to finish this book. I definitely need more. Duke and Pilar are both strong minded and strong mouthed so the interactions are interesting.

Reading all the things that Pilar went through literally made me sad. She is a strong girl. Im wondering how she is going to react to the news she just received. Ready for Part 2!!!! Overall this was a really good book!!

Omg I loved this book... I loved all of the characters because they were easy to fall in love with. My favorite characters were Pilar and Duke.... This book started off at steady pace and picked up more and more as it went along.. I felt so bad for Pilar because she had a hard time while growing up and no one seemed to care, but her friend Swan.. I didn't care for Brandon at all I think that he got exactly what he deserved, even though I think that he did care for Pilar a little bit but his addiction got the best of him. Duke, Duke ,Duke what can I say about him...hmmm, when he was first introduced into the storyline I thought he was a complete jerk but he kind of grew on me... I wonder if we will find out more about the homeless man Charlie in book 2... The was a true page turner...on to book 2

Great storyline Bianca. This book had my attention from beginning to end very well written. Pilar is like so many girls who have experienced so much heartache whether it be from relationships or just childhood who build up a wall to protect then being hurt again. I feel Duke was able to get her to lower her guard a little but I feel for Polar once the truth comes to light. I think Pilar will go over the deep ending knowing the man she has finally opened up to is no different from the people from her past. I love Pilar and Swan friendship. Swan is a true ride or die friend.

Now the drama begins! I'm very concerned because Pilar is going to be very hurt and bothered about this situation that is happening, after all that was confessed to her. I just hope that Pilar will not become a scorned and bitter woman. I just want to know why take her to your country, when you know the consequences? This story is sad, heart warming and beautiful at the same time. Right now the hurt is going to be revealed. That little thing might unleash God knows what on Egypt. On to the next installment. Everything done in the dark always comes to the light. Duke did a great job at breaking down Pillars walls but a terrible job being honest. I don't know why Duke dropped that timeline with Edwina so quick if the times didn't match up. Like his secret all hers will spill out if she is being shady. Love the friendship between Swan and Pilar though, they are hilarious and weird at the same time.

This book started off good with a steady pace yet as it flowed it pick up and didn't stop until the end. There were alot of errors, but it didn't take away from the storyline. Loved the interaction between Duke and Pilar from the very beginning and it intensified throughout the book. Can't wait to see what unfolds with them in PT.2

I been sleeping on Bianca books but NOT anymore.... I read a book a day and you know how you just Love some author better then others. But my daughter's been telling me I need to read her books. So yes I'm a BIG fan of Bianca now. Don't miss out like I was doing..... she is great!!!! About to get the next book NOW. Keep them coming and I will continue to read them.

I don’t know how I feel about this book so far. I can’t say that I even have a favorite character. There’s just so much I do not like about the interactions in the book but understanding at the same time the differences of other cultures. I still don’t know how to gage an emotion,maybe after book 2.

This one was okay but at times I was ready to stop reading. Pilar was too out there and Duke did give you enough to be into him, this is one of those you don’t really care if they get their happily ever after or not. I’ll read the next on to find out just who Charlie is and what Prince has to say.
