From the creator of Bunny Drop comes an all new modern day fable!

High school student Yaneko loves sleep so much she can barely wake up of her own accord–until she’s roused by a sleep spirit known as Nerimu. Yaneko must accompany him as he heads off to work, granting the gift of sleep to people (and animals!) of all ages. But what is his true purpose? And why has he chosen Yaneko to be his assistant? This could very well be the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

The heavy linework of the art and recalcitrant personality of the main character made me pick this up at the library despite my initial reservations about starting yet another teen paranormal romance. And I was right about all three things: I enjoyed the art; I liked the main character; and all the rest was super generic tropes as the socially isolated teen heroine comes under the sway of an inappropriately old supernatural being and starts expanding her circle of friends.

I could see other readers getting more mileage out of this than I do.

This was just okay. While the concept interested me I found myself less interested in Yoneko or Nemiru's interactions.

This could become something more intriguing down the road, but as of right now there's no hook to keep me going with it.

An entertaining read with fun little references to Sleeping Beauty.

Yaneko loves sleep. But when a sleep spirit named Nerimu gets tired of fighting to wake her up every morning, Yaneko learns there's much more to the world of sleep. She tags along with Nerimu and finds herself helping people and animals get good sleep, aiding Nerimu's rival, and making some friends along the way. As she learns more about the world of sleep spirits, she starts questioning whether she'd like to become one too.

A really sweet book. I loved the unexpected friendship. In this volume we see Yaneko and Nerimu's relationship develop. What starts as a relaxed slice-of-life kind of story builds nicely to add backstory and complexity.

A great start to the series. This book is weird in the best of ways. Can't wait to read the next volume.

I liked it! Along the lines of Chi Sweet Home and Flying Witch, it's more low-key rambling exploration through characters, than any epic story, but it is well done. Very endearingly awkward, introduces characters at a good pace, keeps my interest. The premise is light, but enough, with just a touch of melancholy that makes the story well-rounded. Art is straight-forward and clean. If you're looking for something to cleanse your palate, this is a perfect choice.

I rather enjoyed this quirky little manga about a sour girl with no friends who becomes the assistant of a surly slumber spirit, and how helping him and helping others starts a ripple of small changes in her own life. Her thorny bedroom decor is a great motif for her prickly personality and the distance between her and the rest of the world. I'll probably pick up volume 2 - but first, a nap!

A chill, laid-back read that feels very comfortable and safe; just like a good nap. Pull up the covers and fluff some pillows, but don't expect anything too exciting this volume.
In all honesty though, I was not expecting the amount of depth the story gives its characters, especially considering its setting and plot. I am definitely looking forward to the next volume.

I have no idea what to make of this story. I'm not crazy about the artwork, but it suits the story, which is really a bizarre tale. I like it, though . . . I think because I have trouble sleeping and understand a lot of the undertones (and overtones). Very strange . . .

I liked this manga, it was unexpected as I had never heard of it before, I just saw the cover and I was like ‘Nice’ and I actually liked it. There was some parts of it that were a bit odd but I guess all manga has its odd moments. 😊

The comedic style reminds me of Rumiko Takahashi, but I don’t know what it is about Unita that she connects young girls with old(er) men. Odd.

I really liked this book! It's not super deep or super fluffy, but a nice mix of both. It's cute on the surface, with darker undertones - there's something there beyond the gags.
