Koskakohan ilmestyy seuraava?? :)

Moving from a crib to a big bed of your very own can be more than a little bit scary. In this picture book, originally published in Great Britain, Flynn has mixed feelings about the change. He keeps postponing the moment he has to sleep alone, claiming that there's a walrus in his bed. It needs a snack, needs extra blankets, needs some milk, and even needs to be comforted. Flynn's parents are sure that he's the one who is using all these excuses to put off the inevitable, but as the last illustration shows, maybe his excuses were legitimate. Youngsters will get quite a kick out of the story as will their parents, and they will certainly want to take a look at the end papers, which might support Flynn's contentions about his bedfellow. The illustrations are filled with colors and images that show Flynn's parents growing increasingly annoyed and the walrus placidly tolerating Flynn's efforts to make him content enough to go to sleep.

I've bought both of Ciara Flood's previous books for my nephew and nieces, and they absolutely love them, so I decided to buy this latest book for them as well. It's beautifully illustrated, as are all this author's books. The story is a lot of fun. It's a cleverly written story, and it was a hit with the children. If you're looking for a gift for a child, this book is perfect. I'd also recommend Ciara Flood's other books: Those Pesky Rabbits and The Perfect Picnic.

It’s bedtime and Fylnn has his very own big boy bed. Yet, there is one very large problem, there is a walrus in his bed. Now it’s up to Flynn to figure out how to get the Walrus to sleep. From feeding the walrus to singing and giving him blankets, poor Flynn has just about had enough; until he gets an idea. Adorable and sweet, There’s A Walrus In My Bed is a perfect goodnight read for any little one transitioning to new surroundings.

Is the Walrus in Flynn’s bed real or a figment of his imagination, as he tries to delay sleep in his brand new big kid bed?
Moral: Trust your kid.
Length: The story moves along at a nice clip, even though the walrus never has anything to say.
Favorite Line: “‘Perhaps Walrus shouldn’t have eaten all those snacks,’ Dad muttered.”
Overall Impression: This is one of those delightful, implausible tales that lead to wonder and enjoyment. Walrus is not going to vacate that bed anytime soon, and it’s nice to see Flynn do everything he can to help him feel at home. And where would your young one want to lie their head down on any given night? Walrus thinks the same way.

We know children "tell stories", the parents in this book seem to think when Flynn's new bed is delivered (coincidentally by Wally & Russ Beds), that Flynn is exaggerating about the walrus in his bed.
Finally near the end they find out differently. Check out the end papers for the extra clues to this story. I don't think they should get a new bathtub!!
The illustrations remind be a bit of "No Jumping on the Bed" by Tedd Arnold.

This is a really good jape - a young lad makes his parents convinced he's having a problem sleeping in his new bed, but it's not the usual issues - the cause is that he's sharing it with a giant walrus. Kids will really like the illustrations, the pure farce of it - and of course the moral that parents should flippin' well listen to kids and help them out rather than immediately assume they're crying wolf. Four and a half stars.

What a cute book! I love the story and the fun illustrations! I'm a sucker for illustrations that not only add to the story but also provide lots to discuss and items for children to find. The parents believing the child is only making up excuses to stay up (and WHO hasn't done that before!) only to discover...well, I don't want to ruin the story. It's worth the read!

Genre: Fiction
Thie book could be used with a Kindergarten grade level. One unique feature of this book is the text changes in size throughout the text to distinguish between the child and Walrus. The change in text size would make for a fun read aloud!

Such a fun book about a child not wanting to go to bed. A great feature about this book beyond the fun illustrations is that the child and the walrus dialogue is in different formats making it fun to read with groups. Great for a young Elementary classroom.

Flynn has a serious problem, there's a walrus in his bed! As much as Flynn would love to snuggle down for the night in his small-just-right-for-him bed he cannot because of the very needy walrus occupying more than all of it. What is a boy to do?

I found this book really sweet and would love to read this to children. It follows a really funny story of a young boy not being able to go to bed because there’s a walrus in it. I think that children will really like it.

That's funny story of a kid who couldn't sleep in his new bed. He made up a story that in his bed there was a walrus. I thought the story very related in real life because many children had their imagination about anything.

Okay, so the whole time it's kind of a question mark, is the walrus real or not? So I appreciated that it was real, because I don't like those books where it winds up all being pretend. Fun pictures and worthwhile story.

I read this to the pre-schoolers in the library story time and they loved it. They were fascinated with the Walrus.

Cute story, beautifully illustrated about bedtime. Flynn is having trouble going to sleep in his new bed because there is a walrus in his bed...

This one is a hit with both Mama & the two-year-old - adorable illustrations, very funny (the parents are VERY relatable), and everyone loves saying the word 'walrus.'

A funny bedtime story about a little boy who can't go to sleep in his new big boy bed because a walrus has moved in! Cute and funny ending..
November 27, 2023
This is a really funny bedtime story! Kids will love seeing this ginormous walrus taking up all the bed space, and all of walrus's bedtime needs (snacks, lullabies, snuggles...) are very relatable.
