"كنتُ واقفًا متجمدًا على ضفة النهر بينما مجموعة ضخمة من الكلاب تنبح بوحشية وهي تقترب مني، ولم يكن الخوف من الكلاب بقدر ما كان المأزق هو الجسد المتخشب، الذي فقد القدرة على الحركة دفعة واحدة. ركب العناد بعد ذلك ودلدل رجليه. كان هناك القليل من الصراخ والكثير من الدموع، وانفطر القلب أكثر من مرة، بدا كما لو أن السعادة تتبدد. كنا على ما يبدو قد شربنا سعادة بعضنا البعض.

Author of Four novels, Rogers (2007), Using Life (2014), And Tigers to my Room (2020), Happy Endings (2023) and another non-fiction book (Rotten Evidence: Reading and Writing in Prison) as well as numerous blogs and other articles. His work has been translated into different languages, including English, Italian, Spanish, and others
In 2016 Ahmed was sentenced for 2 years in an Egyptian prison after a reader complained that an excerpt published in a literary journal harmed public morality. His imprisonment marks the first time in modern Egypt that an author has been jailed for a work of literature. Writers and literary organizations around the world rallied to support Naji, and he was released in December 2016. His original conviction was overturned in May 2017.
Through his carers, he won several prizes including; Dubai Press Club Arab Journalism Award, United Arab Emirates, 2012 for best culture article, PEN/Barbey Freedom To Write Award, USA, 2016.
The Open Eye Award, Germany, 2016. AFAC grants, 2018. His novel Using Life was also Shortlisted at Neukom Institute Literary Arts Awards 2018 Among the best Tales of a Fantastic Future. And was shortlisted at The Saif Ghobash Banipal Prize for Arabic Literary Translation, 2019

دفقة أخرى ممتعة من الحكي، مدهشة وصادمة. ناجي ما حرمش

كتابات ناجي لا تخلو من المشهدية الكثيفة ذات التفاصيل الموصوفة بدقة تخليك تشوف المشهد كامل كما كان في خياله هو. سعدت جدًا بيها وبعودة ناجي للملاعب بالخفّة دي.

المجموعة حلوة , عجبني الحوار مع تروتسكي جدا , الكاتب بيشمئز من المجتمع علي طول العمل , المجتمع كان التوحيد والنور , كان مشهد ذكي .... كمان حبيت فكرة ان البطل شخصية مشهورة , اشباع رغبة انك عايز تتكلم مع ممثل بتحبة , او مش بتحبة تقدر تشبع رغبتةك في العمل الادبي بسهولة , الاول والاخر الكاتب هواله الحكاية , بيقدر يعمل الي هو عايزة مع اي شخص , الحرية المطلقة دفعت الناس انها تكتب , في قصة السنيورة , الكاتب بينفي انها بونو او ايروتك او رومانس , وبيحاول يعمل بناء غريب لقصة نفسية , عجبني تحرر الكاتب في اسماء الاعضاء , الامر الغريب اني شفت في القصة مازوخية من نوع ما هي طلعت نفسية اينعم بس كانت النزعة الايروتيكية الممجدة للمرأة فيها والي ادت لرؤية مازوخية نوعا ما , وفي قصص تانية بتظهر الايرتيكية المازوخية دي , مثلا القصة بتاعت الشرموطة والعربية , أو قصة مريم , دي كانت مازوخية جدا البطلة , بس المميز انها مكنت معبرة عن نفسها جدا , المجموعة نفسية , وكل بني ادم في الدنيا بيتمرجح بين ساد ومازوخ , الاشكال كان في ان المجموعة نفسية , الطابع الايروتيكي سائد , في ملامح جنسية , بس المجمل ان الطابع الايروتك متطبع بمازوخية اظن انها مستحدثة من الواقع الحياتي المصري , مش عارف , بس كانت مجموعة حلوة
